Cristiano Ronaldo inching closer to huge €200m Al-Nassr contract

Cristiano Ronaldo is very close to agreeing a huge €200 million per season deal with Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr. The Portugal international has been released by Manchester United, and is now a free agent.

Al-Nassr tried to sign him during the summer of 2022 as well, but were not able to convince him to leave Manchester United. But now that he has left by mutual agreement, a free transfer could be on the cards for the veteran.

Cristiano Ronaldo close to accepting Al-Nassr contract

The deal offered to the striker is of 2.5 years, and will make him one of the best-paid players in the world. In the interview with Piers Morgan which led to his exit from United, he claimed that he sees football as more of a business now.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has achieved everything there is to achieve playing club football. He has also won the Euros with Portugal, with the World Cup being the only prize that he hasn’t won.

With Bayern Munich removing themselves from the list of possible destinations for the veteran, it seems that Al-Nassr will be the ones to sign him. His entourage maintains that he is completely focused on the World Cup with Portugal, and that a decision on his future will be made after the tournament.

Clubs in MLS have also been linked with Cristiano Ronaldo’s signature, but taking into consideration the words of the man himself – a big payday in the Middle East before he hangs up his boots seems like the best option.

With that in mind, here are the top five best paid players in the world if Ronaldo accepts the contract:

  1. Cristiano Ronaldo: 200 million dollars, 260m on the field
  2. Kylian Mbappe: 120 million dollars, 110m on the field
  3. Leo Messi: 120 million dollars, 65m on the field
  4. Neymar Junior: 87 million dollars, 55m on the field
  5. Mohamed Salah: 53 million, 35m on the field
