Manchester United are expecting Cristiano Ronaldo to stay at the club beyond the January transfer window. This is due to a lack of interest from other elite clubs, as reported by ESPN.
This summer, clubs like Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Napoli and Roma were rumoured to be interested in signing the player. But, no transfer went through for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner and he ended up staying at Old Trafford even though he missed the pre-season under Erik Ten Hag due to personal reasons.
Cristiano Ronaldo expected to stay at Manchester United until the end of the season
The Portugal captain came on as a substitute in four of the last five games in the Premier League. And he has been relegated to the bench for the most part of the season, particularly in the league.
However, in the Europa League, Cristiano Ronaldo has enjoyed a lot of playing time. He played all three games for Manchester United in the competition, and has scored one goal while providing one assist in the competition.
Erik Ten Hag is not willing to let the veteran leave during the January transfer window since he won’t have a significant budget to work with. Which means that he won’t be able to sign a favourable replacement either. So, unless a good offer arrives, it seems like Ronaldo will be staying at Old Trafford till the end of the season.
