Cody Gakpo scored the first of two late goals for Netherlands as they defeated Senegal 2-0 to start their 2022 World Cup with a win.
The Dutchman has been in fine form this year, and has already racked up 33 goals and assists across all competitions. As a result, a move to a top club is certainly on the cards for him in the summer of 2023.
Cody Gakpo expected to move from PSV Eindhoven in 2023
A Premier League transfer was almost done for the winger this summer. The likes of Southampton, Leeds United, Manchester United and Arsenal were all interested in signing him.
However, they were unwilling to match the €50 million asking price that PSV Eindhoven had placed. Next summer will also see the same price tag quoted for Cody Gakpo. However, it now seems like a bargain compared to the other huge deals that take place in the transfer market.
Arsenal could lead the race to sign him in the summer, despite having a strong interest in Mykhaylo Mudryk during the January window. After the World Cup, we should have more clarity about the clubs interested in Gakpo.
