Call of Duty declares war on cheating devices! Black Ops 7 Season 02’s RICOCHET Anti-Cheat update targets Cronus Zen and XIM Matrix with behavioral detection, plus Microsoft Azure-powered security for Ranked Play.

Zero Tolerance for Input Modification Devices

Activision confirmed that devices like Cronus Zen and XIM Matrix—sold openly at retailers—are officially banned as cheating tools. These third-party input modifiers simulate machine-perfect aim and recoil control, creating unfair advantages that undermine competitive integrity.

RICOCHET Season 02 Anti-Cheat Updates

Feature	Implementation
Targeted Devices	Cronus Zen, XIM Matrix, similar tools
Detection Method	Behavioral input analysis (not hardware)
Ranked Play Security	Microsoft Azure cloud attestation
PC Requirements	TPM 2.0 + Secure Boot (existing)
Industry First	Cloud-based remote attestation for gaming
Enforcement	Account bans for detected violations
Scope	Black Ops 7 + Warzone

How Behavioral Detection Works

RICOCHET doesn’t search for specific hardware signatures—instead, it analyzes input timing, consistency, and precision patterns. The system identifies recoil control and aim behavior that exceed human physical limits through standard controllers or mice.

Since devices like Cronus Zen are highly configurable with no single signature, the anti-cheat detects classes of machine-driven behavior regardless of configuration changes. Season 02 targets the most common device setups as a foundation for ongoing evolution.

Ranked Play Gets Industry-First Security

When Ranked Play launches, RICOCHET introduces remote cloud-based attestation using Microsoft Azure Attestation. This verifies PC integrity before matches begin, building on existing TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot requirements to set new industry standards.

Most players won’t need setting changes—the majority of PCs are already compliant. Activision provides a Secure Attestation Wizard to help players verify configurations and fix issues quickly.

Addressing the “Accessibility Device” Myth

Cronus Zen and XIM Matrix manufacturers market their products as accessibility tools, creating confusion about legitimacy. Activision clarifies: these are cheating tools, period—not permitted under Activision’s Security and Enforcement policy.

Call of Duty includes genuine in-game accessibility options and supported hardware for players with different needs. But devices that provide unfair competitive advantages through automated input modification don’t qualify as accessibility solutions.

Not a One-Time Fix

Team RICOCHET emphasizes this isn’t a one-and-done solution. The detections establish a foundation that will continuously evolve and expand until input modification devices no longer provide advantages in Call of Duty.

As device manufacturers update firmware to evade detection, RICOCHET’s behavioral analysis adapts to recognize new patterns—an ongoing arms race prioritizing fair play.

Current Anti-Cheat Effectiveness

RICOCHET has kept the vast majority of Black Ops 7 and Warzone matches cheater-free since launch. For most players, this means competitive sessions play out without encountering cheaters—a testament to existing protections now enhanced for Season 02.
