For years, comic book fans have trained themselves to stay glued to their seats after the credits roll. DC Studios seems ready to break that habit. Early reports from Clayface screenings say you can head out the moment the film ends.

What the Reports Say?

According to reports from first screenings, Clayface has no post-credits scene. That follows Supergirl, which also skipped one. It’s a notable pattern for a universe that’s only released a handful of theatrical films.

Fans had hoped for a hint about the DCU’s Batman, but it looks like James Gunn and Peter Safran would rather tease future projects on their own terms.

A Different Approach to Post-Credits

The DCU hasn’t completely avoided extra footage. Superman had a post-credits moment, but it was a fun blooper reel rather than a serious tease. On TV, Creature Commandos and Peacemaker Season 2 both included mid- or post-credit scenes.

Then Supergirl skipped the tradition entirely, and Clayface is reportedly doing the same. It’s a clear shift from the Marvel playbook, even though Gunn directed the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, and each of those films had a post-credits scene.

Is It the Right Move?

It might be. Marvel’s post-credits teases have often gone unanswered, with big reveals like Harry Styles in Eternals and Brett Goldstein’s Hercules in Thor: Love and Thunder never followed up on. That made some fans question whether any of those scenes mean anything.

By dropping them, DC avoids making promises it can’t keep. It also fits Gunn and Safran’s slower, more measured slate, which doesn’t have dozens of interconnected films that need constant promotion.

What to Expect From Clayface?

The film is a villain origin story. Harries plays Matt Hagen, an actor whose face is scarred in a violent event. He then undergoes an experimental treatment that turns his flesh into shapeshifting clay. That body-horror twist is the real draw, and it doesn’t need a teaser to sell tickets.

Fans looking for Batman clues will have to wait, but a film that stands on its own can be refreshing.
