Cinebench, the famous benchmark test used by PC aficionados to analyse the CPU performance of their computers, has received a substantial update, according to developer Maxon. The essential thing to note is that the forthcoming Cinebench 2024 release will include GPU benchmarking. Cinebench hasn’t had this capability since version 15, which was released a decade ago.

Cinebench 2024 is made to work with a wider variety of hardware setups, which i am sure everyone knows about.

The new version supports the x86/64 architecture (Intel/AMD) on Windows and macOS as well as Arm64 architecture. Which means it has also extended its support for Apple silicon on macOS and Snapdragon SoC on
Windows.

Cinebench renders a picture repeatedly for a defined length of time and measures how quickly your hardware can do it. Surprisingly, it appears that the benchmark tool will utilise the same image for CPU and GPU testing. This means you’ll be able to see how much better your GPU is than your CPU in image rendering.

The press statement states the new 2024 version would “extend its reach to Apple silicon,” which lets assume means that it could run on Apple’s M2 CPUs, as R23 already supports the M1. There’s also a new desktop interface, so i guess that’s something new. Cinebench 2024 is also using Redshift, Cinema 4D’s default rendering engine, whereas R23 uses the standard renderer.

If you want to try out the new version, you can get it from Maxon’s website. Well, that’s that all for now folks, it will interesting to see new benchmarks from Cinebench 24.
