Christian Eriksen returns to football! 6 month contract with Brentford with option until 2023

Christian Eriksen has returned to club football, joining Brentford in the Premier League seven months after playing his last match. The Danish midfielder has been signed on a six-month contract with the option of extending it until June 2023.

He suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch in Denmark’s first Euro game against Finland last summer, and has since been out of action. Inter Milan had to let go of the player in December, since footballers with an ICD are not legally allowed to play in the league.

Brentford sign Christian Eriksen on a free transfer

“I am looking forward to working with Christian again. It has been a while since I last coached him, and a lot has happened since then. Christian was 16 at the time and has become one of the best midfield players to appear in the Premier League.

“He has also won trophies all over Europe and become the star of the Danish national team,” Thomas Frank said.

The Brentford coach is familiar with Christian Eriksen, having worked with him in the Denmark U17 system. He went on to make his full debut for the national team at the age of 18, and has since become one of their best ever players.

All medical tests have been completed to sanction the return of the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder to the Premier League. And now, it is only a matter of time before we see him back on the pitch in England.
