Inter Milan part ways with Christian Eriksen after being banned in Serie A

Inter Milan have reached an agreement with Christian Eriksen to terminate his contract. The Danish midfielder would not be allowed to play in the Serie A, and as a result, letting him go was the only option the club had.

The midfielder has not stepped onto the pitch since suffering a heart attack on the pitch during the Euros. He has been training and keeping himself fit for the time being, and has been linked with a return to former club Ajax as well.

Eriksen is now free to choose his new club, and could join any club as a free agent. With the January window coming up, we might be seeing the player feature for another club very soon.

What happened to Christian Eriksen?

Christian Eriksen went down to the ground unchallenged during Denmark’s first Euro game against Finland. The referee instantly called for the medics, and after a lengthy interval, he was taken to the hospital. There, he had to be fitted with a defibrillator device.

Although he was released from the hospital a few days later, he would not be allowed to play in Italy again due to the laws in place. One of the reasons behind the cardiac arrest could have been the extreme number of games that the player featured in over the past season.

Eriksen is one of the greatest players that Denmark has ever produced. And in a few months, we could be seeing him back on the pitch in a league where he will be allowed to play.
