What’s the Story About?

Also known by its French title Marcel et Monsieur Pagnol, the film follows legendary French playwright Marcel Pagnol at age 60, disillusioned and struggling with memory loss. Commissioned by ELLE magazine to write about his childhood, he’s visited by “Little Marcel” — his younger self — and together they revisit his early life in Provence, his first loves, and his journey to becoming one of France’s greatest storytellers.

Chomet, a four-time Oscar nominee known for The Triplets of Belleville, brings his signature hand-drawn charm to this poetic, nostalgic tribute to classic cinema.

The English dub features Matthew Gravelle, Lu Corfield, Jonathan Keeble, Celyn Jones, Jess Nesling, and Flora Montgomery. The original French version stars Laurent Lafitte as Marcel Pagolo and César Award winner Géraldine Pailhas.
