Chelsea have been a completely different team since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel at the bridge, and the German has sorted out the issue that plagued the Blues significantly, their defence. While a good attack can win matches, a good defence is what wins titles. And Tuchel’s 3 centre-back approach has made Chelsea the second-best defensive team in the league.

Their only competitors on that front are current table-toppers Manchester City, and while it might be too late to catch up to Pep Guardiola’s team this season, the next one is set to be a campaign where Chelsea will emerge as true title contenders irrespective of whether or not they sign Erling Haaland.

The Norway international has made it clear that he does not intend on joining Chelsea, but that has apparently not stopped the Blues from trying. Chelsea’s midfield, consisting of N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Billy Gilmour, Mason Mount and Kovacic has plenty of quality to rotate throughout the season and still maintain the level of threat.

Moreover, their attacking options include Callum Hudson-Odoi, Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic out wide while Timo Werner, and potentially Tammy Abraham will be there next season. Olivier Giroud could be on his way out of the club since his contract is set to expire this summer and the Blues will be hoping to land a replacement for him in the summer.

Werner himself has started to look like his old self and has started to regain confidence and considering the options and the quality that Chelsea have displayed on the pitch, it is only a matter of time before they start finishing their chances and scoring more than two goals per game under Tuchel.
