Chelsea and PSG are the frontrunners in the race for Inter Milan star Achraf Hakimi. The Parisians had a €60 million bid rejected since the Serie A champions are holding out for an amount worth €80 million.
The Champions of Europe, on the other hand, are willing to interest Inter in a player plus cash deal involving Marcos Alonso. The former Fiorentina man has long been rumoured to return to Serie A, and Inter Milan are willing to take Chelsea up on their offer of £52 million-plus Alonso.
They were previously offered Andreas Christensen and Emerson Palmieri, but have shown more interest in the Spanish wing-back. Alonso, 30, emerged as a pivotal player in Antonio Conte’s Chelsea and is a very attack minded wing-back, with numerous goals in Blue to show for it.
Inter are in a dire financial situation which caused them to part ways with Antonio Conte despite winning the Serie A. In an attempt to raise funds to keep things at the club stable, they are willing to let go of Hakimi, who only joined Inter from Real Madrid one year ago.
The Moroccan is arguably the best wing-back in the world, and also has the ability to play on the left-hand side. Reece James is rumoured to be developed into a right centre-back, much like club captain Cesar Azpilicueta, while Hakimi takes over the wide spot.
PSG are also keen on securing the player, with Serge Aurier viewed as an alternative. Big updates regarding Hakimi’s future are expected in the next few days.
