Chelsea are advancing in their attempt to sign Marc Cucurella from Brighton in the coming days. Personal terms have been agreed with the player, and only a transfer fee needs to be agreed with the Seagulls in order to make the transfer final.
The 24-year-old was initially pursued by Manchester City, who did not want to meet the £50 million price tag. Their offer was only worth £40 million, and as a result, they decided to walk away from the deal since the difference in valuation was too much.
Marc Cucurella talks accelerating with Chelsea
Levi Colwill is being discussed as part of a separate deal in order to accelerate talks for Cucurella. The 19-year-old spent the last season on loan at Huddersfield Town in the Championship and has attracted a lot of praise.
However, he still needs Premier League experience and could leave to join Brighton. But, it remains to be seen whether the move is a loan deal or a permanent one.
Marc Cucurella joined Brighton only last summer, and has several years remaining. But, he has handed in a transfer request and is close to leaving the club to play Champions League football with one of the top clubs in the world.
The player was very impressive on the left flank, and created a lot of chances. He would fit very well into Thomas Tuchel’s system, and would provide competition for Ben Chilwell in the team. He can also play left centre-back, and will be a great fit for the 3-man central line that Tuchel uses.
