Charli XCX Says “I Do” to The 1975’s George Daniel in Intimate London Ceremony

Pop sensation Charli XCX has officially tied the knot with George Daniel, drummer of The 1975, in a beautiful ceremony that had fans buzzing across social media. The “Brat” hitmaker exchanged vows with her longtime love in what can only be described as the perfect blend of intimacy and rock star glamour.

Charli Wedding Details: A Low-Key London Affair

The couple married at London’s Hackney Town Hall on July 19, 2025, choosing an intimate setting that reflected their down-to-earth personalities. Videos circulating online show the newlyweds taking photos with friends and family outside the venue, with Charli stunning in a traditional off-the-shoulder wedding gown.

From Studio Collaborators to Soulmates

The couple first collaborated on No Rome’s “Spinning” in 2021, began dating in 2022, and announced their engagement in November 2023. Their love story reads like a modern fairy tale – two musicians who found their perfect harmony both professionally and personally.

Their engagement was announced via a now-deleted Instagram post featuring Charli’s diamond ring, with the caption “charli xcx and george daniel fucking for life!!!” – perfectly capturing the couple’s playful, authentic relationship dynamic.

The Mystery of Matty Healy’s Absence

One detail that caught fans’ attention was the notable absence of The 1975’s frontman, Matty Healy. While Healy had joined George’s stag celebrations in Ibiza days earlier, he flew to Los Angeles the day before the ceremony to support his fiancée Gabbriette, who had film commitments.

Specifically, Matty was attending a screening of “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” in which his fiancée Gabbriette stars. The absence wasn’t due to any drama – just conflicting schedules and prior commitments.

A Match Made in Musical Heaven

George Daniel isn’t just any drummer – he’s a founding member of The 1975 and has been instrumental in Charli’s recent musical evolution. The couple’s shared passion for pushing creative boundaries has not only strengthened their relationship but also elevated both their artistic careers.

Their collaboration extends beyond personal life, with George contributing to Charli’s critically acclaimed “Brat” era, proving they’re truly a power couple in the music industry.

What’s Next for the Newlyweds?

The couple had previously planned to wed in Italy, a place that “holds a special place in their hearts”, suggesting they might still have a celebration planned for later this year.
