At the all-digital CES 2021 (11th January – 14th January), HP has announced on Monday, the Envy 14 aimed at mobile content creators. The Envy 14, which is a lower variant of the Envy 15 launched last year, offers a combination of Tiger Lake-U processors and NVIDIA GTX graphics and comes with a 14-inch IPS touch display that is colour-calibrated out of the box.
The Envy 15 launched by HP last year came with a 45 W Comet Lake-H CPU and an RTX 2060 Max-Q GPU. The Envy 14’s spec sheet does not seem to list too many configuration options which are unlike the several other HP devices launching today. Envy 14, which offers a highly colour-accurate display, is powered by the Intel Tiger Lake Core i5-1135G7 that is paired with 16 GB of soldered DDR4-3200 RAM, 256 GB of NVMe storage is offered by the default configuration.
According to Notebookcheck’s report, “an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti Max-Q drives the 14-inch 16:10 1,920 x 1,200 IPS touch display that has a brightness of 400 nits and is rated to cover 100% of the sRGB colour gamut.” HP says that the Envy 14’s display being calibrated to attain a Delta E of less than 2 right out of the box makes it the company’s most colour-accurate 14-inch laptop to date. The Palo-Alto-based company also offers the Display Control app to set the display settings based on the creative scenario.
An Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201 card that also offers Bluetooth 5 ensures no network connectivity issues. The port selection comprises a combo audio jack, 1x Thunderbolt 4, 2x USB 3.1 Type-A, and 1x HDMI 2.0-out with a present microSD card reader. The 720p webcam offers HP Enhanced Lighting with an integrated privacy shutter of the Envy 14 that uses the display brightness to enhance selfies for video calls.
A 4-cell 63.3 WHr battery keeps the device ticking for about 16.5 hours, which HP says is thanks to the dynamic power-sharing between the CPU and GPU via HP Dynamic Power. The company claims that the battery can be charged from zero to 50% in about 30 minutes. Other features include a backlit all-in-one keyboard, a fingerprint reader, and HP’s suite of apps for consumer devices.
