CD PROJEKT RED’s latest revenue report states Cyberpunk 2077 as its most profitable game yet

The creator of Cyberpunk 2077 is by any chance not a small company, CD PROJEKT RED might have not the best start with the release of their Cyberpunk 2077, but that doesn’t mean that the company is a failure. And the latest revenue report from the company clearly states that the developers are running in profit.

CD Projekt RED’s near-final estimated earnings for the financial year 2020 reveals record sales with revenues of 2139 million PLN ($563 million) and net profit of 1154 million PLN ($303 million). However, the final results of the company will be shared on Thursday, April 22nd.

Last year, CD Projekt RED only managed 521 million PLN in sales revenues ($137.17 million) and 175 million PLN in net profit ($46.07 million). Earlier in 2015, with the release of The Witcher III: Wild Hunt, the studio registered revenues of 798 million PLN ($205 million) and a net profit of 342 million PLN ($88 million).

Despite having lots of issues, starting with crashes on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles and a substantial amount of launch bugs, Cyberpunk 2077 was still hugely successful for CD Projekt RED. Analysts state that the game turned out to be the biggest digital game launch ever, and not even the refunds meaningfully affected the aggregate sales.

The developers behind Cyberpunk 2077 are working tirelessly in improving their game and the continuous updates have managed to fix the many impending issues of the game. Update 1.21 landed earlier this week on all platforms, delivering a bunch of fixes to crashes and bugs.

According to sources, CD Projekt RED is also working on free DLCs and the next-gen console update for Cyberpunk 2077. It’s not just that, but the developer studio is also in the works of developing, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt for the next-generation consoles and it will arrive in the second half of 2021. This time the adventures of Geralt of Rivia will feature ray tracing, much faster load times, and other visual and technical improvements.
