Canon on Friday introduced the EOS C70 as its latest member of the EOS family in India. Canon EOS C70 is a new video focused camera and comes with Canon’s RF lens mount and is also compatible with a new Mount Adapter EF-EOS R 0.71X that makes it compatible with a wide range of EF series lens. The EOS C70 has a compact and lightweight form factor and comes with support for up to 4K at 120fps using its 35mm CMOS Dual Gain Output (DGO) sensor.
Canon EOS C70 features a 35mm CMOS DGO sensor and is capable of shooting 4K videos in 4:2:2. The sensor is designed to read each pixel at two distinct gain levels which deliver enhanced results without any hassle of post-production. The EOS C70 is powered by Canon’s homegrown Digic DV7 image processor that comes with support for 4K at 120fps and 2K at 180fps and it also offers Canon’s proprietary Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology offering fast autofocusing alongside the intelligent tracking and recognition system. It also has the face detection autofocus which improves focus tracking further.
The CMOS Dual Gain Output sensor comes with the ability to capture High Dynamic Range (HDR) images while keeping the noise low.
The EOS C70 is using the EOS iTR AF X algorithm which is supposed to improve subject detection and tracking while also bringing support for head detection.
For connectivity, Canon EOS C70 offers a headphone jack, USB Type C port, and dual SD card slots. It also comes with a removable top-mounted handle. The EOS C70 has a wide range of controls and ports including XLRs, audio control dials, Timecode IN/Out, full HDMI terminal, and direct control functions to enhance the recording experience.
There is no word on the Indian pricing yet by the Canon but in the US it retails at $5,499 (Rs. 4,05,270) while the EF-EOS R 0.71 mount adapter can be purchased for $599.99 (Rs. 44,210).
