Barcelona all set to announce the signing of Sergino Dest

After battling it out with Bayern in the transfer market, it seems Barcelona have finally managed to come out on top. As reported by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Sergino Dest will officially sign for Barcelona within the upcoming few hours.

The reported fee that the Catalonian club has paid for the Ajax right-back is rumoured to be around €22 million. In addition, Desti will be getting more game time with Barcelona as well.

While Bayern wanted to sign Dest as a backup for Pavard, Barcelona needed a direct replacement for Nelson Semedo. It is easy to see why the youngster picked Camp Nou as his favoured destination. The promise of minutes on the pitch for one of the biggest clubs in Europe is simply too good to turn down.

With Ronald Koeman carrying out a rebuilding project at Barcelona, Dest fits right in. He is young, promising and has time on his side. Romano reported on Twitter that Dest would sign a 5-year-deal with Barcelona that would keep him at Camp Nou till 2025.

The player is set to sign the paperwork in the upcoming few hours. Whereas the officials at the club are working out the unveiling.

Nelson Semedo recently signed for Premier League club Wolves. The Portuguese right-back joins fellow countryman and manager Nuno Espirito Santo at the Molineux. Following the poor performance against Bayern in the Champions League last season, it is easy to see why the club sold him.

While Sergi Roberto is the only natural right-back at the club as of now, Dest will challenge him for minutes. It is only fitting that Koeman has options at hand for rotating the squad and handing out minutes to youngsters.

Eric Garcia is reportedly the next target for Barcelona. The La Masia graduate has been vocal about his desire to return to Barcelona and it is likely that the Catalonian club will negotiate a fee with Manchester City soon.
