The launch of the Nothing Phone 1 created a lot of buzz and excitement in the smartphone market. While it had typical specs and the latest Android software, what set it apart was its unique design and the impressive Glyph interface. Now, with rumors of the Nothing Phone 2 on the horizon, expectations are sky-high for another groundbreaking device.
In an interview earlier this year, Carl Pei confirmed that the Nothing Phone 2 is scheduled to launch in 2023, with a focus on the US market. While specific details about its features, pricing, and release date are still unknown, fans anticipate another standout feature in the form of the Glyph interface. As for the launch timeline, speculation suggests a possible release in late 2023, with July being a potential month based on the original release of the Phone 1 last year.
Moving on to the features and specs, rumors indicate that the Nothing Phone 2 could offer an OLED display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, up to 12GB of RAM, up to 256GB of storage, a 5000mAh battery, and the latest Android software. Notably, the Phone 2 may upgrade from the mid-range Snapdragon 778G chip to a flagship-grade Snapdragon 8-series chip, potentially the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.
The battery capacity is expected to increase to 5000mAh, with faster charging speeds, possibly around 65W. The OLED display is also rumored to be of higher quality with an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate.
While pricing details are still speculative, considering the premium offering of the Nothing Phone 2, it is expected to have a significant price increase compared to the Phone 1. Two variants are anticipated, an 8GB + 128GB storage version and a 12GB + 256GB storage version, with estimated prices ranging from ₹49,999 to ₹54,999.
Should you wait for the Nothing Phone 2?
Despite the possibility of a higher price, waiting for the Phone 2 seems like a reasonable choice. If you have a budget of around ₹30,000 to ₹35,000, the Nothing Phone 1 is a good option. However, if you have a higher budget and are familiar with Nothing’s capabilities and innovative designs, the Nothing Phone 2, with its flagship-grade chipset, enhanced Glyph interface, larger battery, high-refresh-rate screen, and potentially upgraded camera system, could be a game-changer in the smartphone market.
