BTS Named Their Comeback Album ARIRANG — So Why Is Every Song Title in English? ARMY Has the Answer

BTS dropped the tracklist for their long-awaited comeback album ARIRANG on March 3, 2026 — and what followed was a fandom split between explosive excitement and genuine confusion. An album named after one of Korea’s most beloved traditional folk songs carries 14 tracks with fully English titles and a production roster stacked with international names. Some fans love it. Others are furious. And ARMY is in the middle of it all, explaining why the outrage might be premature.

What’s on the Tracklist BTS ARIRANG ?

The 14-track lineup reads: Body to Body, Hooligan, Aliens, FYA, 2.0, No. 29, SWIM, Merry Go Round, NORMAL, Like Animals, They Don’t Know ‘Bout Us, One More Night, Please, and Into the Sun. SWIM is the lead single. Every title is in English — not one Korean word in sight.

The tracks were produced by international heavyweights including Mike WiLL Made-It, Flume, Diplo, El Guincho, JPEGMAFIA, and Ryan Tedder, among others. All seven BTS members contributed to songwriting, with RM having a hand in every track except the interlude.

Why the Backlash?

Many netizens felt that the English song titles and foreign producers didn’t match the album’s traditional Korean name, leaving the concept feeling unclear. Critics argued BTS were abandoning their Korean identity at a moment when the album title actively invokes it. Some pointed to the irony: Arirang is a symbol of Korean cultural heritage, yet the music inside it appears to be pitched squarely at the Western pop market.

Adding more heat to the situation, BTS came under fire for working with “problematic” producers, including Diplo, who has sexual assault allegations against him.

Why ARMY Says: Wait Before Judging

Defenders of the album have been loud and logical. Supporters noted that English titles are common in the BTS discography, pointing out that judging song language through titles alone may create confusion — several past songs carry English titles but contain Korean lyrics throughout.

Big Hit Music stated that Arirang “captures BTS’ identity as a group that began in Korea,” and the album is the band’s first complete group release after each member completed mandatory military service. For ARMYs, the name alone carries that weight — the songs inside it haven’t even been heard yet.

The album marks BTS’ first complete studio effort in six years, following 2020’s Be. For more BTS comeback updates, tracklist analysis, and K-pop coverage, head to TechnoSports and explore our latest K-pop news.
