BSA Gold Star 650 Scrambler Unveiled at Motorcycle Live 2024

Following Royal Enfield‘s success with its 650cc range, Classic Legends-owned BSA Motorcycles has revived the iconic Gold Star 650. The Gold Star 650, which was launched in India for a base price of INR 3 lakh (Ex-showroom) has now been joined by a Scrambler variant that was unveiled at the Motorcycle Live 2024 show in Birmingham UK.

New BSA B65 Scrambler Debuts, Set to Compete with Royal Enfield Bear 650

BSA previously revealed a Scrambler version of the Gold Star 650 earlier in December 2022 at Motorcycle Live in Birmingham, although that model was more concept than a production vehicle with several features missing. The B65 Scrambler, on the other hand, seems much closer to a production machine with all the parts in place for homologation. Now, whether BSA is launching this version or not, we are not sure but that could tip-off to challenge the recently unveiled Royal Enfield Interceptor Bear 650.

While both bikes share a rich brand heritage, have similar displacements and similar levels of performance. The dual-tone paint scheme (via Mindful Motorcyclist video) on the Gold Star 650 Scrambler’s fuel tank complements a retro aesthetic via finned features on the aforementioned liquid-cooled engine.

Other notable revisions include a new up-swept exhaust, a redesigned handlebar with a cross brace, a new subframe, and a sport-tail section. A completely digital instrument cluster will come in place of the existing analogue twin-pod unit, along with upgraded switchgear.

It also gets race number side panels, a minuscule front beak and exposed telescopic front forks with gaiters to enhance travel and ground clearance. The bike rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wire-spoke wheels wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres.

Powering the bike is the same 652cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC unit with an output of 45 bhp and 55 Nm of torque through a 5-speed gearbox that also gets a slipper clutch. The powertrain gets a changeup to better fit the Scrambler style. Just as the Interceptor Bear 650 tasted success, BSA can think of launching this model shortly.
