Brothers: Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson’s New Apple TV+ Comedy Explained

What happens when two real-life best friends discover they might actually be family? That’s the premise driving Brothers, Apple TV+’s buzzy new comedy that’s already generating Emmy-season chatter thanks to its unlikely, heartfelt pairing.

What’s Brothers About?

Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson play heightened, fictionalized versions of themselves. When Woody’s daughter’s wedding collapses, he moves his family into Matthew’s sprawling Austin ranch for a reset. Things spiral when Matthew’s mother, Ma Mac (Holland Taylor), accidentally lets slip a decades-old secret — the two lifelong friends might actually be biological brothers. As Woody chases the truth, Matthew juggles a chaos of his own: a possible run for Governor of Texas.

Brothers: Overview

Why It’s Must-Watch TV?

McConaughey and Harrelson previously shared the screen in HBO’s True Detective, and their real off-screen friendship is the emotional core of this show. With Eisenberg (an Emmy-nominated, Peabody-winning writer known for The Office) at the helm, Brothers blends celebrity mythmaking with genuine family comedy — a fresh, self-aware twist that’s rare in star-driven sitcoms.
