Brighton defeated Arsenal 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium to seemingly end their hopes of winning the 22/23 Premier League title.

Following their defeat, Manchester City are four points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand. The Sky Blues could be guaranteed their third league title in a row if they win their next game against Chelsea, regardless of what result Arsenal get.

Julio Enciso opened the scoring, being at the right place at the right time. Jakub Kiwior went down to one knee, after his boot seemingly slipped out. And this left Enciso with a free header, to make it 1-0.

Denis Undav scored the second, after Leandro Trossard’s botched clearance landed at Undav’s feet. He chipped the ball over Aaron Ramsdale to make it 2-0, with Arsenal still unable to break through in attack.

Pervis Estupinan scored the third, after Ramsdale parried the ball into the defender. He got onto the scoresheet after assisting Enciso’s opener, capping off a remarkable performance.

The Seagulls were resolute in defence, and barely allowed the hosts to get a shot on goal. Gabriel Martinelli had to be withdrawn early on in the game, which made it even more difficult for Mikel Arteta’s men. Leandro Trossard did have an opportunity to score against his former side, but his effort hit the crossbar. The former Brighton man had an evening to forget as it was his error that led to the second goal.

Reiss Nelson came the closest afterwards, but his effort went narrowly wide, in what was Arsenal’s best chance.

Although the Gunners have qualified for next season’s Champions League, they will be very disappointed with the way that they have let the title slip. Their next game is against Nottingham Forest, followed by Wolves to end the season.
