Brazil will be without Gabriel Jesus and Alex Telles for the remainder of the 2022 World Cup, after the pair sustained injuries. Their absence has been confirmed, and they will play no further part in the tournament for the national team as they won’t be able to recover in time.

The Arsenal striker complained of pain in his knee after the game against Cameroon, and will not be able to play until January.

Brazil to miss Gabriel Jesus and Alex Telles for rest of World Cup

Telles also sustained an injury in the game against Cameroon, and will not be fit in time to contribute any further. As a result, it is a big blow to Tite’s squad, trimming their depth, which was one of their many advantages.

However, Richarlison has performed remarkably in the centre-forward role, keeping Gabriel Jesus on the bench until the last game against Cameroon. Alex Sandro has also been the first-choice for Tite at left-back, which softens the blow to a degree.

But to lose two quality players will always be difficult for any squad to deal with. And Brazil are no exception to that. What remains to be seen now is whether they can go forth despite missing two important players.
