Boyfriend on Demand: Star-Studded Cast Elevates Jisoo’s Virtual & Real Worlds

Netflix’s Boyfriend on Demand (premiering March 6, 2026) boasts one of K-drama’s most ambitious ensemble casts, with Lee Soo-Hyuk, Yoo In-Na, and Gong Min-Jung anchoring a supporting cast that transforms Jisoo’s dual realities. Director Kim Jung-sik assembled this star-studded lineup to showcase Jisoo’s versatility across multiple romance scenarios while grounding her character in authentic human connections.

Lee Soo-Hyuk portrays Si Woo, a third-generation chaebol who gifts Jisoo’s Mi-rae extravagant, dazzling dates in the virtual world. His character represents one extreme of the “ideal boyfriend” fantasy—wealthy, attentive, and seemingly perfect. Yoo In-Na takes on a specialized role as the “dating manager,” the person responsible for matching Mi-rae with her ideal virtual scenarios, serving as the bridge between fantasy and reality.

Boyfriend on Demand: The Boyfriend Universe Cast Breakdown

Gong Min-Jung and supporting cast members create the real-world ecosystem grounding Jisoo’s fantasy escapes. While the virtual boyfriends—also featuring Jay Park, Kim Young-dae, Lee Hyun-wook, and Lee Sang-yi—represent escapism, these actors anchor Mi-rae to actual human relationships and workplace dynamics.

Director’s Versatility Strategy

Director Kim Jung-sik emphasized that his primary creative focus was showcasing Jisoo’s range across different scenarios. “I focused most on portraying the many charms Jisoo has in the most versatile way possible. To do this, I used different occupations and added subtle variations to her character in the virtual world so that her acting style would feel distinct from Mi-rae in reality.”

This means viewers don’t just see one version of Jisoo—they experience her as a webtoon producer, a student on a romantic campus date, a luxury-seeker, and a woman caught between fantasy and authentic human connection.

Reality vs. Fantasy Dynamic

While virtual boyfriends provide escapism, the slow-burn connection between Mi-rae and Kyeong-nam (Seo In-guk) builds alongside her virtual dates, gradually blurring the line between perfect fantasy and imperfect reality—the drama’s central emotional tension.
