The opening half was tense with little separating the two sides. Both teams created early chances, with Gladbach’s Robin Hack rattling the crossbar with a stunning long-range effort. Dortmund gradually grew into the game but struggled with possession, creating turnovers that kept the hosts hopeful.
Gittens’ Moment of Brilliance

Late Drama and Controversy
Gladbach’s persistence paid off when Tim Kleindienst was pulled back in the box during a corner. After a VAR review, Kevin Stöger stepped up and calmly slotted the penalty down the middle in the 71st minute to restore parity.
The drama intensified in stoppage time when substitute Tomas Cvancara received two yellow cards within minutes of entering the match, reducing Gladbach to ten men.
Key Statistics
Dortmund dominated possession with 58% of the ball and registered 15 shots compared to Gladbach’s eight. However, the result means Dortmund remain without an away win this season, having lost four and drawn two of their six away fixtures.
