The trade dispute between China and the U.S. had a significant impact on semiconductor industries based in China. But due to dire circumstances, even the Taiwanese Semiconductor Manufacturing Company suffered a loss due to U.S. restrictions. Hence, it was forced to set up a fab factory on U.S. soil.
Recently the city officials of Pheonix, Arizona, approved the government support for the TSMC’s $12 billion chip plant. It is termed a step in bringing high-tech chip manufacturing firm to the U.S. Pheonix’s city will provide around $200 million to develop roads, sewers, and other infrastructure. Reports claim that at least one traffic light with a $500,000 will be included in the bill.
“We appreciate the continuous bipartisan support from the U.S. federal, state, and city governments. It gives TSMC and its supply chain partners the confidence this and other future investments will be successful,” stated TSMC’s officials.
TSMC establishing a manufacturing plant in the U.S. is very important to the country as TSMC is a major chip supplier to some of the biggest tech companies in the U.S., including Apple. The administration finds its disadvantages to having major of its technologies being manufactured outside its country. Hence, the fab of TSMC is very important to the U.S. Not to mention that it will create about 1,900 new jobs over five years.
“It is remarkable that this came to fruition during a pandemic. The payoff is huge. TSMC will create 1,900 high-tech jobs and foster thousands more related jobs in the semiconductor supply chain ecosystem,” stated a representative from Pheonix.
Apple is no stranger to facing lawsuits and getting sued. But, it’s rare for you to see the company issuing an apology. The last time it made such a public statement was in 2017. It was when the customers realized that it had been throttling the speed of older iPhones.
The Cupertino-based giant stated it was to protect those phones from aging batteries and then offered a $29 replacements for the showers. But it was slammed by a lawsuit and had to agree to pay $500 million of class action settlement.
Now it seems that the iPhone maker has to pay a second installment. It will have to pay it to 34 US states, and some will be $113 million. The attorney generals of 34 US states have sued Apple for hiding the throttling and battery degradation news from iPhone owners.
They argue that by concealing these issues, Apple wanted to spend a year profiting off of people. iPhone users thought they needed to buy a new iPhone, whereas they only really needed to replace their battery. By doing so, they could easily avoid throttling or unexpected shutdowns.
Of course, Apple has denied that and the settlement news means that the issue won’t be dragged to the court to determine whether there was any actual wrongdoing. The settlement (PDF) is not yet fully approved by a judge, but there’s still a chance that the states might see their money soon.
iPhone users had to apply for their $25 worth of the $500 million class-action settlement, but the process of payment is still underway. A fairness hearing is scheduled on December 4th, which will decide whether the settlement was handled properly or not.

The pandemic induced lockdown has forced many professions to move online and has increased their dependency on technology. The most noticeable impact was seen in education, and it resulted in both teachers and students adopting notebooks and Chromebooks for online teaching.
With the increase in demand for Chromebooks, most prominent players in the market are rushing to increase their profits. Recently, a new Chromebook by Google has made its appearance on Google Play Console. The last Chromebook model to be released by Google was the Pixelbook Go, powered by Intel. But the new Chromebook will be powered by AMD.
According to sources, the new device will be powered by the AMD Ryzen 3 3250C. It is a dual-core processor that comes with four threads. It has a peak clock speed of 3.5 GHz. It will also feature a Radeon RX Vega 3 GPU along with 4 GB of RAM and a 1,920 x 1,080-pixel display resolution. The display will have a pixel density of 160 PPI. But the show will only be 13.7-inch with a 16:9 aspect ratio.
Google has dubbed the new Chromebook as the Zork. Over the months, Zork has been benchmarked on Geekbench with different processors like the Ryzen 7 3700C, the Athlon Gold 3150C, and the Athlon Silver 3050C. There are rumours of 8GB and 16GB models of the device, but Google has not clarified whether it will release all the models.

The Covid-19 pandemic has already affected the economical condition of every sector of the world. The football world is not an exception. Some small clubs have already faced multiple crises. Now, some big clubs have started to face the same situation.
Manchester United may suffer a £191.5million in revenue loss this season. It is predicted that Manchester United will have a 19.5% year-on-year reduction in revenues.
The estimated revenue of the Red Devils for the 2020-21 season is £473.4m. It is the lowest revenue for them since 2015.
United faced an economic loss of £49.08m between April and June. Another loss of £34.8m is recorded between July and September this year.
In the latest press conference, Manchester United chief Ed Woodward published the annual revenue of the club. There is a 19.5% drop in revenue from the same quarter last year which is equal to almost £109m because of close door matches. There was also a decrease in commercial revenues of 25.7% which is almost about £59.7m.
Woodward said, “While the Covid-19 pandemic continues to cause significant disruption, we are optimistic that the recovery and normalization phase is gradually coming into view.”
“The club’s resilience and our strong commercial business continue to provide a solid foundation and gives us confidence in our long-term outlook beyond the pandemic, both on and off the pitch.”
UK government is planning to allow a section of fans into the stadiums. If it finally happens then there will be a percentage of matchday revenue will be collected. But that will not be enough for sure.
New Delhi, India, Nov 19, 2020 – Today, Skullcandy, the original lifestyle audio brand, announced the launch of Crusher® Evo, the newest model in the famous Crusher franchise.
Crusher Evo delivers an unprecedented immersive audio experience — combining two notable audio advancements: an improved version of Skullcandy’s patented Sensory Haptic Bass and Personal Sound from Audiodo™, a progressive audio personalization technology enabled through the Skullcandy App.
The Sensory Haptic Bass feature has long been the defining attribute of the Crusher franchise and is widely recognized as the only audio experience of its kind. New Crusher Evo boasts a further refined version of the hallmark platform with more multi-dimensional haptic vibration patterns across a wider range of bass frequencies.
Commenting on the India launch, Amlan Bhattacharjya, CEO, Brand Eyes, Official Distributor of Skullcandy in India – “Skullcandy fans have always loved Crusher because it truly delivers a one-of-a-kind immersive bass experience. It allows users to not only listen to their music or movies, but actually feel them. Crusher Evo takes that immersion to an even higher level than ever before.”
Together with the Sensory Haptic Bass improvements, Skullcandy has partnered with Sweden-based Audiodo to offer Personal Sound: A groundbreaking capability to tune Crusher Evo to users’ unique hearing profiles.
A Crusher Evo user simply connects the headphones to the Skullcandy App, then takes a quick audio test to determine their unique Personal Sound Profile in both left and right ears. The Audiodo technology then automatically adjusts the incoming audio levels to optimize the sound of the headphones to each individual user’s profile. The remarkable result is that users typically hear layers and sounds in their audio that were never perceptible to them before.
“We know that everyone’s hearing is different,” says Amlan. “So it’s no surprise that what one person may deem as ‘great sound’ may not be great for someone else. The Personal Sound feature enables everyone to find that ideal balance of audio levels that are matched precisely to them and only to them.”
When the two advancements are combined, Skullcandy fans will enjoy an experience unlike anything else available on the market.
“The result of bringing together our patented Crusher haptics with Personal Sound by Audiodo™ is something that’s pretty mind-blowing the first time you experience it. In testing, we found it really enjoyable to see how surprised people are when they hear and feel what they’ve been missing. There’s just nothing like it,” Amlan concluded.
Of course, Crusher Evo is also designed and engineered with a wide range of features to meet the everyday lifestyle demands of today’s audio consumer, including:
Long-lasting 40 hours of battery life.
Rapid Charge technology — delivering 4 hours of play on just a 10-minute charge.
A full suite of media controls directly from the headphones. Users can take calls, change tracks, adjust volume controls and activate native device assistants (Google, Siri, etc) — without ever touching their phone.
Built-in Tile™ finding technology that allows Crusher Evo owners to easily “ring their headphones” to locate them if ever lost.
Flat-folding and a collapsible design for easy portability.
Streetwear-inspired carry case.
Auxiliary cable for non-Bluetooth connectivity (ex: watching or listening to content on aeroplane consoles).
Crusher Evo is available for purchase on Skullcandy.in for Rs.12,999/-.
The Cupertino giant has recently switched to Apple M1 chip for all of its products including MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and the Mac mini. Well, is it because of the performance improvement only that Apple ditched Intel? Partially true enough but in the meantime, Apple is reportedly saving about $2.5 Billion by switching to M1 chip and its for 2020 alone.
As reported by Wccftech, the report has been calculated by IBM AI strategy lead Sumit Gupta, who claims that Apple’s M1 chip will cost for the company between $40-50 per unit. If this is the case the price difference could be huge when compared that cost to a $200 Intel Core i5 processor for the previous-gen MacBook Air or even the MacBook Pro.
Obviously, this will help Apple save a lot of money on all of the new Macs and here’s a cost breakdown provided by Gupta:
ARM-based Apple M1 processor cost: $50 (might be closer to $40)
Intel Core i5 Dual-Core for MacBook Air: $200 (maybe $175)
Intel Core i5 Quad-Core for MacBook 13-Entry: $250 (maybe $225)
Costs of MacBooks with Intel:
MacBook 13-Entry: 8.6 M units x $250 = $2.15 B
MacBook Air: 5.4 M units x $200 = $1.07 B
Total = $3.2 B
Costs of MacBooks with ARM-based M1:
MacBook 13-Entry: 8.6 M units x $50 = $268 M
MacBook Air: 5.4 M units x $200 = $429 M
Total = $697 M
That is a saving of $2.5 Billion for Apple […]
This is a huge saving for Apple and we expected it to reduce the MacBook pricing and as for the fact the price remains the same, Apple is expected to make more profit than ever! However things look good on paper, Gupta admits that these are estimates and could change in the future.
As we know the 5nm based M1 chip is a very complex silicon with components like the GPU and unified RAM. The complexity with which Apple has developed could eventually mean it would cost Apple a lot more than $40-50, still Apple has made a wonderful chip and in the years to come we can expect more from the company.
The lockdown and home quarantine induced by the pandemic has made everyone dependent on digital technology. With the digital streaming and gaming industry seeing an increase in usage, more tech companies try their best to establish some profits in the field.
Gigabyte recently announced that its next-gen AORUS gaming boxes are almost here and will be launched soon. The company claims that the Box is aimed at offering extreme levels of performance. The company will launch its AORUS gaming box with RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 cards, according to sources.
However, the company has only provided spec details of the RTX 3080 model gaming box. The size of the Box is 300 x 140 x 170 mm, and the gaming box weighs around 3.8 kg after the installation of the card. The company has also included an RGB light strip on the eGPU and a different I/O than its previous gaming models.
The gaming box will have three DisplayPorts and two HDMI connections along with a Gigabit Ethernet port. It will also sport two USB 3.0 Type-A ports. It also comes with a USB 2.0 Type-A port on the front, and it has support for the Thunderbolt 3 port on the back.
The company offering only thunderbolt 3 is disappointing, and the device will only provide 40 Gbps of bandwidth with Thunderbolt 3. Not to mention, the device only has support for PCIe third-generation technology. The pricing is not yet been disclosed, and the gaming box’s availability remains a mystery. But considering the demand for gaming hardware, the product is expected to be released soon.
