Jaguar Land Rover to become net-zero carbon business by 2039

Tata Motor announced that its British luxury unit Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) aims to become a net-zero carbon business by 2039. The Ratan Tata led organization also mentioned that clean-hydrogen fuel-cell power being developed for JLR

“Development is already underway with prototypes arriving on UK roads within the next 12 months as part of the long-term investment program.”

The company also stated that future models of its Jaguar would be exclusively built using pure electric architecture. By 2030 Jaguar and Land Rover also promises to offer pure electric power. It is also anticipated that around 60% of Land Rovers sold will be equipped with zero tailpipe powertrains.

The company also stated that “In the next five years, Land Rover will welcome six pure electric variants as it continues to be the world leader of luxury SUVs. All Jaguar and Land Rover nameplates to be available in pure electric form by end of the decade; first all-electric Land Rover model in 2024.”

Automaker also said that JLR is trying to be positive cash net-of-debt by 2025 with a “value creation approach delivering quality and profit over-volume.” The company also stated that it is trying to re-imagine the plan for both Land Rover and Jaguar Brands’ electrification. Tata Motors is allowing JLR to explore potential synergies on clean energy, connected services.

“In order to realize its vision of modern luxury mobility with confidence, the company will curate closer collaboration and knowledge-sharing with Tata Group companies to enhance sustainability and reduce emissions as well as sharing best practices in next-generation technology, data, and software development leadership.”

The IPL 2021 will be as per regular schedule, i.e. it will start in March-April like all the previous years. Before the commencement of the tournament, they are having a mini-auction for the 8 franchises.

The IPL 2021 Player Auction is now underway in Chennai from 3 pm IST.

South African all-rounder Chris Morris started a bidding war between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore initially. He has a very low base price of INR 75 lakhs.

Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings entered the bidding very late when the price was already around INR 13 crores.

Finally, he was sold for a whopping INR 16.25 crores to Rajasthan Royals. He will now play under Sanju Samson in IPL 2021.

Chris Morris becomes the most expensive buy in the entire IPL history. Rajasthan Royals’ bid of INR 16.25 crores was the highest. He is followed by Yuvraj Singh, who was bought by Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) for INR 16 crores in 2015. KKR’s Pat Cummins is third on the list with INR 15.5 crores.

Royal Challenger Bangalore’s buy of Glenn Maxwell for INR 14.25 crores is also the fifth most expensive buy in IPL history.

We can clearly see the IPL franchises are not holding up and are spending with free hands for their desired players in the IPL 2021 mini-auction.

Kylian Mbappe mocked FC Barcelona defenders Jordi Alba and Gerard Pique for their ‘behavior’.

Kylian Mbappe was the star man against FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League’s Round of 16 clash. The Frenchman scored an incredible ‘hat-trick’ as his side won the game quite comfortably. Paris Saint-Germain thrashed FC Barcelona by 4-1 at their home.

Mbappe stole the show. But Mbappe was involved in a fiery clash with FC Barcelona defender Jordi Alba and Gerard Pique.

The conversation started when Mbappe told the young Barca defender Sergino Dest to stop touching him at a first-half set-piece. Then Jordi Alba tried to mock the Frenchman by saying, “You’re getting to big for yourself.”

In response Mbappe told Alba in Spanish, “In the streets, I kill you!”

Then Alba told Pique, “He’s learning, the bugger is learning.” In response to that Pique interjects, “But who are you going to kill?” Mbappe then repeated, “On streets I Kill you!”

Many reported about the incident between the Frenchman and the Spanish defender. Pique was mocked later in social media as he pulled back Mbappe’s shirt as the young Frenchman threatened to break away for a counter-attack. 

After the match, Mbappe praised his team’s performance. He said, “Tonight, it is magnificent but we have not won anything yet.”

“I am happy. I always want to give the best of myself. I have not always had that success. But never in my life will I hide.”

The second leg of this fixture will be on 10th of March.
