Commission fees could push Erling Haaland as the most expensive player in history

0

Erling Haaland is the talk of transfer town, and despite there being a release clause in place which comes in starting from 2022, valued at €75 million, the Norwegian is being heavily linked with an exit from Borussia Dortmund this summer itself.

His agent, Mino Raiola and father had recently been spotted in Barcelona and Madrid, travelling to Spain to discuss projects and potential plans for the player if he chooses a club with the representatives of Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Manchester City lead race for Erling Haaland from England

In the meeting with Barcelona president Joan Laporta, Raiola and Alf Inge Haaland made it clear that a sum worth €40 million had to be paid as commission to the two, with both of them demanding €20 million each. Adding to the expenses involved in transfer fees and the fact that Haaland would want a salary worth €30 million for his contract, the deal becomes an astronomically expensive one to carry out in the current financial climate.

As outlined by Raiola himself, there are only a handful of clubs that have the financial strength to invest in an asset like Erling Haaland. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool and PSG are among those clubs, and of them, the two El Clasico giants are reportedly the ones that Haaland himself favours.

Whether or not the deal will be carried out this year is something that remains a question mark still. Borussia Dortmund’s ability to qualify for the Champions League next season will also affect the decision that will be made by the 20-year-old at the end of the campaign.

OnePlus 9 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra vs Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max: Premium Smartphone Comparison

The three big smartphones from different houses are present in the market and we will see which one suits us more. We are seeing the battle between the  OnePlus 9 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max. These three smartphones are the most hyped premium smartphone of the year as they offer premium quality services and the brands related to these smartphones are popular among the mass. People always compare these three smartphones as all three offer mostly the same performance but have their own magic in them.

Display

OnePlus 9 Pro offers a longer 6.7-inch QHD+ LTPO display and has a high refresh rate of 120 Hz. Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra hosts a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED edge display and has the same refresh rate of 120 Hz. Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max is the largest iPhone which attributes a 6.7-inch OLED Super Retina XDR OLED panel but has a refresh rate of just 60 Hz.

Processor

Galaxy S21 Ultra and OnePlus 9 Pro are run by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 mobile processor. On the other hand, iPhone 12 Pro Max is powered by the A14 Bionic chipset.

Camera

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra houses a 108MP wide-angle sensor, a 12MP Ultra-wide sensor, two 10MP telephoto zoom lenses and Laser Auto-Focus. OnePlus 9 Pro also features a quad rear camera setup. This includes a 48-megapixel Sony IMX789 primary sensor, a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 secondary sensor, an 8-megapixel telephoto shooter, and a 2-megapixel monochrome sensor. Apple’s iPhone 12 Pro Max houses pro-grade 12-megapixel triple rear cameras.

Talking about the front camera, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra has the strongest 40 MP front snapper when compared to the OnePlus 9 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max which hosts a 32 MP lens and a 12 MP lens for selfies respectively. OnePlus 9 Pro cameras are built by Hasselblad which is a famous Swedish camera manufacturer. They captured the lunar landings during NASA’s Apollo missions and will bring its iconic colour science to the OnePlus 9 Pro. Thus, improving the total quality of taking pictures for the users.

Battery and Fast Charging

OnePlus 9 Pro houses a 4500mAh battery which is paired with Warp Charge 65T fast charging. Samsung’s new smartphone is backed by a robust 5000 mAh battery pack which comes along with 25W fast-charging support. The iPhone 12 Pro Max packs the weakest of the three, a 3687 mAh battery cell along with 20W fast-charging support.

Price

The OnePlus 9 Pro comes in two variants with two different prices:

  • 8 GB + 128 GB: Rs. 64,999
  • 12 GB + 256 GB: Rs. 69,999

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra has two versions:

  • 12 GB + 256 GB: Rs 93,639
  • 16 GB + 512 GB: Rs 116,200

iPhone 12 Pro Max has three variants:

  • 6GB + 128GB: Rs 125,900
  • 6GB + 256GB: Rs 134,900
  • 6GB + 512GB: Rs 155,900

Our Thoughts

Even though the iPhone comes with a Super Retina XDR OLED panel, it has a very low refresh rate as compared to the OnePlus 9 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. When it comes to processor, the OnePlus and Samsung has the strongest mobile processor in the form of Snapdragon 888 for Android devices but its performance is still weaker than Apple’s A14 Bionic chipset.

In terms of camera, it is a close fight between Samsung and the OnePlus but we would like to go with the latter due to the presence of Swedish manufacturer Hasselblad. Samsung edges out OnePlus in the battery domain and again Apple fails to show great specs. There is a huge difference in the prices of the three smartphones.

To make a parallel comparison we can take the 12 GB + 256 GB model which is way expensive for Samsung and Apple when compared to the OnePlus 9 Pro. Due to all these points, the OnePlus 9 Pro will be our choice. Do your own analysis to come to your conclusion and do let us know.

Liverpool’s title defence is over after Manchester City beat Leicester City

0

Avenging the infamous 5-2 defeat at the Etihad earlier on this very season, Manchester City defeated Leicester City 2-0 in the return fixture held at the King Power Stadium yesterday. Gabriel Jesus and Benjamin Mendy were on the scoresheet for the visitors as they eased past Brendan Rodgers’ Foxes this time around.

Manchester City now stand 14 points clear of their local rivals, United, who have accumulated 60 points from their 30 games so far this campaign. And while Pep Guardiola’s men look set to be the winners of this unpredictable campaign of the Premier League, the more concrete fact is that we are guaranteed new champions of England this season.

Liverpool are mathematically out of the title race, and their version of the highest achievement possible this season is now a top-four finish, which will be remarkable considering the way their performances have dipped this season. But much more of the blame must be given to the never-ending list of injuries at the club.

Klopp has had to fight the most hectic season of his career without two of his first-choice centre-backs, Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez for the majority of the season. Moreover, injuries to the people filling in, namely, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have not made things any easier for the German coach.

And considering that titles are won on defence, it is a clear example as to why Manchester City are at the top of the league while Liverpool stand outside the top four at this point.

Real Sociedad end their 33-year curse with Copa del Rey win

Real Sociedad wins their first major trophy in the last 34 years with Copa Del Rey win Real Sociedad won the final with a 1-0 scoreline against Athletic Bilbao.

It was the rescheduled 2020 final at the Estadio de La Cartuja between the two sides. Both teams have tried their best from the very first minute of the game. It was Mikel Oyarzabal for Real Sociedad who broke the deadlock at 63rd minute from the spot. It was the only difference between the side after 90 minutes.

After the match, Mikel Oyarzabal said, “It’s a beautiful day on which so many things come to your mind. Giving this victory to our fans was the best thing we could do.”

“There are many people who would like to have been here and there are many friends and family who left us in the worst possible way. This is for everyone, we felt their presence. There’s nothing like this feeling.”

Athletic Bilbao’s Oscar de Marcos described the loss as a massive blow. He said, “It’s very tough for us, this was a match we were so excited about and thought we could win.”

“It’s very painful whenever you lose a final, regardless of who you lose to. It’s a very sad day for us.”

However, David Silva, who joined Real Sociedad last summer from Manchester City, had made a record with this win as well. He won the FA Cup with Manchester City in his first season which was the club’s first trophy in 35 years. This time he is part of Real Sociedad’s first major trophy in 34 years.

Manchester United planning to let De Gea go to promote Henderson

0

According to a report by the Mirror, Manchester United are planning to release David De Gea from his contract at the end of the season. The main reason behind this stance is due to the fact that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is willing to invest his trust in Dean Henderson as the undisputed number 1 for the Red Devils going forward.

De Gea has been Manchester United’s favoured man between the sticks for the majority of the last decade, and the 30-year-old’s time at the Old Trafford is possibly nearing completion this summer if the club can pay him a major chunk of his contract.

The Spaniard earns £350,000 per week, and will have two years of contract left with the club this summer. Hence, the amount that United will have to pay out to De Gea will surely be one that is sky-high to say the least.

De Gea has been prone to errors recently, much more than he has been during the majority of his career with Manchester United. Moreover, the emergence of Dean Henderson from his time at Sheffield United saw Manchester United rush to give him a new contract worth £100,000 a week, and that investment alone is an indication of their faith in the young Englishman.

Lastly, United will be hoping to be able to sell the player ideally, to have funds coming in rather than going out due to letting one of their key players go, but right now, no interested suitors have stepped up.

SMIC paid an incentive of $3 Million Housing Unit to its chief who was about to resign

According to recent sources, the co-chief executive officer of China’s Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) Dr. Liang Mong-Song, who earlier in December, threatened to resign from the company has decided to stay with SMIC.

With the company retaining its co-CEO, it has also bought the executive a $3.4 million “living quarter” for domestic living purposes. The company revealed the incentive in its latest annual report filed with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange at the close of last month.

The incentive was a huge investment from the SMIC, and the gifted hosing quarter has made Dr. Liang’s, total compensation for the year $4.9 million, after being combined with his annual compensation of roughly $1.5 million. Additionally, Dr. Liang also received roughly 1 million SMIC shares in the form of options or restricted stock units.

All this was brought forth due to the appointment of Dr. Chiang appointment to SMIC’s board. His appointment had angered Dr. Liang who felt that the board’s decision to proceed with the appointment without informing him was disrespectful. In his letter, he announced his intention to resign once the appointment was made.

The duo has an estranged history with both being former TSMC employees and their opinions regarding SMIC’s future are also different. Dr. Liang believes that SMIC needs to focus on developing advanced chip manufacturing process nodes such as 7nm and 5nm, on the other hand, Dr. Chiang believes that the company needs to focus on scaling the production of mature processes such as the 14nm and 28nm nodes.

In its annual report, SMIC also stated that its 0.18μm process technology accounted for the bulk of its sales in 2020, but it lost some share to the 50/55 nm manufacturing node. The sales from the 28nm and 14nm nodes grew their contribution to 9% last year from the 4% they commanded in 2019.

Details of the process provided by SMIC state:

The development of the [NO TYPO] second-generation FinFET technology low-voltage process has been completed. Compared with the previous generation technology, the density of transistors per unit area is greatly improved. At present, risk production has been entered.
