ICYMI: Elon Musk does something very Unusual of him, Delete a Tweet

0

Does the American electric vehicle company, Tesla Inc., have the potential to be a $1 trillion company? It’s an opinion that got Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeting early Friday, only for the billionaire to do something fairly unusual for him: delete a tweet.

The exchange started via a tweet by an account that regularly uploads promotional posts about Tesla and “Full Self-Driving,” popularly known as FSD, a package that is sold by the company along with its driver-assistance system Autopilot. FSD is controversial because of Tesla’s mixed messaging — even though it is supposed to be autopilot, the company tells drivers who use it that they need to be fully attentive.

“FSD is the biggest thing ever,” the user @WholeMarsBlog wrote. “Tesla is going to be bigger than Apple.”

Musk replied that he thinks there is “a >0% chance Tesla could be the biggest company.” After another user wrote that they loved “the direction of that arrow,” Musk responded: “Probably within a few months.”

Musk then quickly deleted the latter post leaving people wondering if he thought better of sending it or was he asked to take the tweet down.

According to Bloomberg, in late morning trading on Friday, Tesla shares declined as much as 4.6% and as of 12:55 p.m. in New York, the stock was down 3.7%.

In 2018, as part of a settlement reached with the U.S. SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) related to Musk’s tweets about taking the company private, “Tesla agreed to employ a securities lawyer to review executives’ social media posts and make sure they’re consistent with disclosure policies and procedures.” Tesla also specifically agreed to oversee communications by Musk and to pre-approve anything containing information material to the shareholders or company.

Hours before Friday’s exchange that led to Musk deleting a tweet, the National Labor Relations Board ruled that the American EV maker repeatedly violated U.S. labor law and needed to make Musk delete a tweet in which he talked about punishing workers if they unionized. That post has not yet taken down by him.

Tesla's Musk speculates about passing Apple

Tesla has a long way to go to pass Apple Inc. as the world’s biggest company, with a roughly $600 billion market capitalization compared to the iPhone maker’s market value at about $2 trillion.

Netflix to Launch 40 New Anime Shows after Blood of Zeus Success

The world’s largest paid streaming service, Netflix Inc., is set to step up its fight against AT&T Inc. and Sony Corp. for original content that appeals to Asian viewers by launching 40 new anime titles this year and almost double its number of Japanese-style anime releases.

According to Bloomberg, Netflix announced this move on Saturday during a virtual animation expo from Japan — “where half of Netflix’s 5 million subscribing households watch an average of five hours of the shows each month.”

Asia is one of the world’s fastest-growing streaming markets and this move by Netflix is a part of a push for original content to appeal to audiences in that region as its home market of North America reaches a saturation point. Following the success of the anime movie “Demon Slayer,” which was last year’s fourth highest-grossing film all over the world and Japan’s best-selling title ever, entertainment companies are increasingly vying for a slice of the $23 billion industry.

“We want to be able to pride ourselves as being the top entertainment destination with good quality content,” Taiki Sakurai, Netflix’s chief anime producer, said in an interview. “The growth of our business is directly connected to the growth of our anime.”

Growing its base of customers in Asia is also crucial if Netflix is to sustain its recent growth amid Disney+ and Amazon Prime, its rivals in the region, spending more on producing content.

“One of Netflix’s biggest advantages over its competitors is generating local, original content based on its extensive user data,” said Pooh Chuang, an analyst at Taiwan-based President Capital Management Corp. “Doubling down on original anime will help this localization campaign and strengthen its users’ attachment to Netflix.”

There has been a growth of about 50% a year in global viewing of anime shows, Sakurai said, with half of Netflix’s 200 million global subscribers watching at least one anime show in recent months. Four years ago, when Sakurai joined the company. he was the only employee working on anime; the team has now expanded to 12 members, a testament to the firm’s dedication to the format, he said.

Some of Netflix’s most-popular titles now include anime series. Among the platform’s 10 most-watched series in about 80 countries is “Blood of Zeus,” launched last year. “Among the series, Netflix will release this year are “Yasuke,” about a legendary African samurai in feudal Japan, and “Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness,” based on a Japanese horror video-game franchise created by Capcom Co.”

According to a report last year by the Association of Japanese Animations, the worldwide market for anime, including box-office takings, TV fees, and merchandise, almost doubled over the decade to 2019, reaching $23 billion. By 2025, that’s estimated to grow to more than $36 billion, India-based research firm Million Insights said in a report last year, that this growth will be driven by increasing penetration of streaming platforms and the rising popularity of Japanese smartphone games.

BeoPlay HX headphones by Bang & Olufsen promises 40-hours of playback time

Over-ear headphones are still in fashion and are still one of the most preferred choices of media playing ear devices. As it has been witnessed by the latest headphones launched by Apple, the demand for over-ear headphones is still strong.

In recent news, we have the BeoPlay HX, which is the latest over-ear headphones by Bang & Olufsen. Coming for US$499, the headphones combine aluminum with lambskin leather, and have memory foam ear cups for added comfort.

The BeoPlay HX headphones just weigh 285 g and are lighter than the Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 and the Sony WH-1000XM4. Apart from being light-weight the device also comes with a 1,110 mAh battery, which B&O claims will last up to 35 hours with active noise cancellation (ANC) on, or 40 hours with the technology deactivated.

B&O claims that the BeoPlay HX’s four microphones deliver an improved noise cancellation compared to the third-generation BeoPlay H9. According to sources, the BeoPlay HX can automatically adjust the ANC settings depending on how loud the background noise is surrounding you.

The device is charged using a USB Type-C and supports up to Bluetooth 5.1. The headphones also support aptX Adaptive, AAC, and SBC. The aptX Adaptive cannot reach the 576 kbps bitrate of aptX HD ( which it will replace), but its peak of 420 kbps relies on an improved codec that supposedly sounds as good as aptX HD.

The BeoPlay HX is available to order in black now. B&O will be releasing a white model at the end of April and a brown model in May.

Apple patents new cooling design for its future MacBook’s

Apple’s M1 chips brought along with them major performance and battery boosts and most importantly there was hardly any heating issue to be found with the machines. But henceforth Apple is hinting that the hitting issue might be eventually back. According to sources, Apple is looking into ‘Deployable Feet’ for the MacBook Pro as an enhanced cooling solution.

To confirm the news, the Cupertino giant has filed a patent that details how the company will make this happen. From reports, we know that the patent application is titled “Deployable Feet for Display Articulation and Thermal Performance.” The patent highlights moving parts within the MacBook Pro which will lift the rear of the device for better cooling. The feet move under the laptop and raises it by 3.8mm to increase the airflow underneath.

According to the Cupertino giant, the deployable feet will take less space compared to fans and other cooling means. This will ensure that the MacBook Pro stays thin and light with better heat management. The cooling method will contribute to the laptop’s performance as less strain is put on the processor.

according to the patent, “the deployable feature can at least partially define a vent when deployed.” It increases natural airflow under the laptop the deployable feet will be integrated with Mac’s software. This will permit the processor to push better performance.

The electronic device can include a sensor that detects at least one temperature or a processing speed of the electronic device and provides the signal in response to the detection. The electronic device can further include a fan, wherein the speed of the fan is at least partially based on a state of the deployable feature.

The company is also known for filing patents but not moving ahead with them. So if the commercial importance of such a design is deemed unworthy then Apple might very well discard the project.

Twitter reacts as Penguins were spotted at the newly built Santiago Bernabeu

Real Madrid has not played at their home stadium since the outbreak of the coronavirus. Fans have not been able to attend matches in Spain since March 2020, and Los Blancos have subsequently been playing their home matches at their Alfredo di Stefano stadium – which is usually reserved for their Castilla side.

Madrid was granted permission to start the major construction operation at the 73-year-old venue in March. They have taken the opportunity of the absence of fans to move ahead with plans to modernise the 81,000 capacity ground of Santiago Bernabeu.

But a recent video has went viral as Penguins were seen at the Santiago Bernabeu. It has left the whole world in doubt thinking about what the penguins were doing at the Bernabeu.

In this video you can see the Penguins were just walking around calmly. This has caught the attention of everybody and many of them have tweeted about this.

Apple Car to make night-time self-driving safer with the LiDAR system

We have longed heard the news that Apple’s production of its Apple Car is going smoothly enough and also that, the Apple car could push the Cupertino giant over the US$3 trillion market cap barrier.

However, there is still low general public trust in autonomous (self-driving) electric vehicles (EV) at the moment. One can state that safety is the best reason to trust in future automated vehicles (AV) that can boast of higher levels of technology, and hence, Apple has been considering this crucial factor for its Apple Car.

In the filing of its first patent, Apple wants to make sure that the Apple Car is highly visible, especially at night, without breaking existing headlight restrictions. The patent entitled “nighttime sensing” suggests the implementation of long-wave infrared (LWIR) and near-infrared (NIR) sensors. The sensors would be able to detect potential collision objects at a much greater range. According to sources, the possible viewing range goes from 60 m to 200 m (197 ft to 656 ft) from the front of the vehicle with this suggested system.

Reports indicate that to make the self-driving night trips safer, the Apple Car will also utilize a “waveform design for a LiDAR system with closely-spaced pulses.” LiDAR, which stands for “laser imaging, detection and ranging” or “light detection and ranging”, targets objects with a laser and then measures the time it takes for a pulse to return to the sensor.

We are also hearing the news that the self-driving Apple Car AV/EV could be launched as early as next year or in 2023. However, more conservative predictions have settled on 2024/25 and even 2028.
