Nintendo reportedly working on a powerful Switch model

In the market for handheld gaming devices, it is completely evident that Nintendo is the undisputed champion amongst all. Though we have seen startups like Aya, launching their Neo product with success, and also we have heard that Microsoft is working on a portable machine.

But, the fact remains that Nintendo is the undisputed champion in the market. We have long heard the reports that Nintendo submitted a revised Switch model to the FCC. But, recently, we have started hearing rumors about Nintendo working on a more powerful version of its Switch.

According to sources, NVIDIA will soon stop producing the Tegra X1 ‘Mariko’, which Nintendo uses in the Switch and the Switch Lite. So, if the recent reports are to be believed, Nintendo plans to equip a new Switch to a 7-inch OLED display, which would be quite the upgrade from the 6.2-inch IPS displays found in the current Switch and Switch Lite.

The unavailability of the Tegra X1 ‘Mariko’ implies that Nintendo would need to revise both the Switch and the Switch Lite. The new Switch might also be equipped with an OLED display to run at 720p, not 1080p.

According to the rumors going around, the new Switch will be a more powerful version of the current console rather than a next-generation model. If a Switch Pro or Super Switch comes to market this year, then we doubt that Nintendo will release a next-generation console for at least another couple of years.

TSMC to set-up R&D center for its 3nm node is Baoshan, not a manufacturing plant

Earlier reports were making rounds over the internet that the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is planning to construct a 3-nanometer (nm) chip fabrication facility in Baoshan, Hsinchu. The company has outright denied such reports and rumors, and also stated that it is currently building a 3nm production facility in Tainan city.

The report which previously indicated construction in Hsinchu stated that owing to strong demand for 3nm products from American companies such as Apple Inc and Intel Corporation, TSMC was adding production capabilities in the province.

TSMC also stated that, while there are no plans to manufacture 3nm products in Hsinchu, the company will nevertheless research the process node in the city. The Tainan plant will enter trial production later this year and scale up operations in the second half of next year.

While the world is suffering from a shortage of semi-conductor supply, tech giants around the world are looking at TSMC for the solution to their problem. It is also rumored that Intel Corporation will contract TSMC for its next-generation processors.

Earlier we have also heard the rumors that Apple Inc is working with TSMC to research the 2nm node in Baoshan, and the pair will be involved in mass-producing the process node in the city. If this little rumor turned out to be true then we will have truly next-gen processors soon in the market.

However, as of now, we don’t know much information about the rumored 2nm process nodes, but the market has started to adapt to the 5nm nodes. With the latest products coming out from AMD and Apple, 5nm is slowly being adopted in the market. So it’s still quite a while before the market is ready for 2nm.

As reported earlier, TSMC will set-up its R&D center for the 3nm process nodes, and it will start its operations once the company hires 8,000 specialists for the facility.

Tokyo Olympics to go ahead without overseas spectators

0

Foreign spectators may have been prohibited in Tokyo Olympics.

As per the report by Japanese news agency Kyodo, the Japanese government has decided to exclude overseas spectators from attending this summer’s Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics following the outbreak of the Corona Virus pandemic.

Though nothing is official till now, the government and the Japanese organizing committee of the Summer Games are expected to hold a meeting regarding this matter. Hopefully, the decision will be confirmed by next week.

However, if this news proved to be true, then it can cause a great loss for Japan financially as well. Already the one-year postponement of the games has caused the cost to balloon to at least $15 billion. At first, the organizing committee was expecting to make 90 billion yen from ticket sales. But if the foreign spectators are not allowed to enter then, the committee has to re-think to minimize the deficit.

Seiko Hashimoto, president of the Japanese committee told the reporters last week, “We would really like people from around the world to come to a full stadium, but unless we are prepared to accept them and the medical situation in Japan is perfect, it will cause a great deal of trouble also to visitors from overseas.”

The Olympic is scheduled to start on July 23. It will continue till 8th August. Whereas, Paralympics is between August 24 to September 5.

Edinson Cavani reportedly not happy in England

0

Edinson Cavani’s Manchester United career could be cut short to a single season-long spell if recent rumours are to be believed. According to the Sun, Luis Cavani, Edinson’s father has indicated that the striker is not happy in England and is holding out for a return to South America.

Here is what he had to say, as quoted by the Sun:

“My son does not feel comfortable in England and wants to be close to the family again.

“Edinson is going to end up playing in South America. I want Edinson to play in a team that fights for something important.

“Edinson had many conversations with [Boca vice-president Juan Roman] Riquelme and he would like to play for Boca.

“He was always seduced by the idea of playing in Boca. If he returns to South America he is leaning towards Boca.”

“By the middle of the year he will return to South America. My son’s idea is not to continue there, he wants to return.”

During his time at Manchester United, the Uruguayan has managed to score 6 goals and assist two in his 18 appearances for the club in the Premier League. Cavani signed an initial one year deal with United with the option to extend the deal for another year.

However, if Luis Cavani’s words are true, and the player is in fact not content with life in England, then we could be looking at another chase for United to sign a classy back up striker to support the likes of Rashford, Martial, James and Greenwood who race past on the wings.

Google honours the man who invented the N95 mask, Dr Wu Lien-teh

Google honoured Dr Wu Lien-teh, a Chinese Malaysian epidemiologist who discovered the N95 mask over a hundred years ago, with a personal artwork on their search graffiti.

The N95 mask was originally invented due to the deadly status of the Manchurian plague that struck China over a century ago. This prompted Wu to develop a sort of protection against the highly infectious disease that had claimed over 60,000 lives at the time.

Up

Working towards that end, Wu developed a surgical face covering, made of cotton and gauze to filter the air people inhaled. This was the inception of the mask we know as the N95 mask today, which is heavily used to prevent people from contracting COVID-19.

Wu was the first-ever person of Chinese descent to attend Cambridge University. He was later appointed as the vice director of the Army Medical College in 1908. He was also notably awarded the 1935 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine due to his work on the possibility of controlling the pneumonic plague.

The Chinese Malaysian practised medicine up until the final years of his life, and eventually passed away due to a stroke in 1960 at the age of 80.

It is his work that has encouraged the developments of facial protection not only for consistent use for medical practitioners but also for the common people. Most can now be seen having N95 masks on their faces to reduce contamination and exposure to the coronavirus pandemic that still hasn’t been eradicated yet.

Russian modder successfully pushed RTX 3070 with 16 Gigs of VRAM

A modder in Russia who goes by the name of VIK-on has successfully upgraded the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 graphics card with 16 GB GDDR6 memory. The modder had the RTX 3070 running with twice its original memory capacity.

The process of replacing the memory modules takes a lot of technical expertise and we have seen quite a few of them in recent times. Earlier in 2019, Teclab modded the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti to support 16 Gbps modules as it featured 14 Gbps modules for stock.

But, what VIK-on has done here, is not a memory speed upgrade but instead, a capacity boost. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 originally comes with 8 GB GDDR6 memory & while we have heard several rumors of a higher capacity Ti variant in the past, but that does not seem to be the case anymore.

So VIK-on decided to replace the 8 GB memory modules with 16 GB memory modules. The memory modules are the Samsung-made K4ZAF3258M-HC14 having a density of 16 Gb that makeup 2 GB capacity per module.

Since NVIDIA has a very hard lock on the BIOS which even manufacturers can’t even modify, the modder went with a different approach. He decided to trick the strap set which had to be configured manually. Each strap set comes with a unique number of bits that determine which memory modules are being used. The 00000-bit strap is for Samsung 8 Gb (1 GB) modules, 00001 is for Micron 8 Gb (1 GB) modules while the 00110 strap set supports 16 Gb (2 GB) modules.

The initial boot-up gave out a few errors where it won’t load a different application without Furmark running in the background. Since Furmark is a very heavy stress test for the GPU, the final performance of the graphics card wasn’t that great. But EVGA Precision’s clock-locking method fixes the issue and the card runs in its full potential with 16 GB capacity.

Takeaways from Juventus’ loss against Porto

0

Juventus won the battle against Porto yesterday in their second leg Champions League Round of 16 fixture, but ended up losing the war to 10 men of the Portuguese outfit.

Federico Chiesa was the man on the night for the Bianconeri, scoring two outstanding goals to pull Juventus back and troubling the opposition throughout the night with his constant movement off the ball. Not to mention his silky footwork that left the goal exposed to the winger on many occasions.

Chiesa had the chance to score a hat-trick on the night, having dribbled past the opposition’s goalkeeper. However, a last ditch effort from Pepe saw to it that the player did not get the ball into the net, and deflected it out for a corner successfully.

Juventus full-backs Alex Sandro and Juan Cuadrado were also very active, putting in crosses throughout the game and exposing the opposition on multiple occasions. The latter also got really close to winning the match for the hosts, with a shot on goal that almost curled into the goal but hit the crossbar.

Juventus’ first costly mistake was conceding the early penalty for the visitors to put themselves ahead. Pirlo’s decision of starting Merih Demiral over Matthijs De Ligt was also a questionable one considering it was him that conceded the penalty after all. Moreover, there were a few more chances where Marega was in the clear, but was stopped by Szczesny charging out.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus have now failed to progress into the quarter finals of the champions League for two years in a row. In the case of the former, it is the first time in 15 years that this has happened. And for Juventus, we could be looking at a trophy less season if things keep going on choking in this way.

FIFA 21: Is the 91-rated Joe Hart Flashback card worth doing?

0

Joe Hart is famously remembered for his Manchester City days. After many successful years at the Etihad Stadium, he left the club for Burnley in 2018. The England international joined Tottenham Hotspur in 2020 on a free transfer but has not featured for the club often.

EA Sports often come up with flashback cards in FIFA 21. This time they have introduced a 91-rated GK Flashback card remembering Joe Hart’s heroic days.

Requirements:

  • Number of players from Manchester City: Min 1
  • Squad Rating: Min 85
  • Team Chemistry: Min 60
  • Number of Players in the Squad: 11

SBC Expiry date: 20/3/2021
Expected price: 150k-200k FIFA coins

Read: Is the 93-rated Carles Puyol ICON SBC card worth doing?

Is the card worth doing?

An 85-rated SBC for the 91-rated Joe Hart Flashback card is definitely a very lucrative one. Comparing with the other SBCs, this comes at a very low price and is definitely a value SBC.

I would recommend you all to do this SBC and get the Joe Hart Flashback card. As for me, the card fits perfectly into the team replacing Marc Andre Ter Stegen. And I would tell you later why I’m using Hart despite Ter Stegen being one of the best in-game cards.

Even if the Hart card doesn’t fit into your team, you can put the 91-rated card into another SBC as well. So this a win-win situation. This SBC is an absolute bargain.

Now, coming to the part, why I am using Hart ahead of Ter Stegen!

As you can see in the comparison above between Hart and Ter Stegen, Hart’s statistics come out on top in 4 categories while Ter Stegen only has a slightly better Diving and Kick, which doesn’t make any differences.

The Hart card is also very good in-game, and I have played FUT Rivals matches with it, and he has been making some outstanding saves. I am eagerly waiting to play the FUT Champions matches with him to see how he performs.

So, now lets see Hart’s statistics in details.

Joe Hart is 6’5″ tall, which gives him a perfect height to save shots aimed in the top corners. I have given him a Wall chemistry to boost his Diving, Handling and Kicking. I felt it was the best choice, but you can definitely apply some other chemistry to him.

Joe Hart’s positioning is excellent, and he has a great speed considering other goalkeepers, which make it easy for him to cover counter-attacks and make double saves. His Cautious with Crosses trait is also a welcome addition.

Overall, the 91-rated Joe Hart GK card is very good and value for money. It’s definitely worth doing. Even if you don’t plan on playing him, getting a 91-rated card from an 85-rated SBC is an absolute bargain as you can put him in other SBCs and get your desired player.
