LG takes another step in the Smart TV market, granted a patent for extendable OLED Design

LG may have plans of shutting down its smartphone business completely, but the brand continues to build on its smart TV market. In the past, LG has explored different display types for its smart TV, including rollable and transparent TV designs. The company has recently been granted a new patent for an extendable display.

The patent application was filed on September 1, 2020, with the State Intellectual Property Office of China and was approved on February 26, 2021. The TV consists of two parts, a host and a base, with the TV’s design seemingly being an intermediate product between LG’s rollable TV and transparent TV.

In its usual fashion, LetsGoDigital has come out with a set of renders showing the retractable TV. By collecting information from the patent sketches and LetsGoDigital’s renders, the TV seems to adopt a retractable design whereby its base size is similar to that of the TV itself. When the TV is not in use or for other purposes, the length can be adjusted freely.

Besides, there is a long strip opening in the middle of the base that can display the date and time when the TV is completely stored in the base. When the user listens to music on the TV, the opening will contain control elements such as play, pause, up, and down.

The new patented TV brings to mind the Korean tech giant’s Signature R smart TV, which was first unveiled at CES 2019 but only went on sale in Korea for around $87,000 in October last year.  The smart TV utilizes a 65-inch flexible OLED panel, and among its several noteworthy features, the most impressive is the ability of the screen to be partially or fully retracted into the base.

At this year’s all-digital CES, LG announced a 55-inch transparent OLED TV. When the TV is in the storage state, there is a long strip window to display the date, time, etc. It can also display the user’s sleep duration, heart rate data, and other health data, and it is a complete big screen TV when fully raised.

The two existing models and this patented version all adopt a retractable design. Still, the only difference we expect is that this version might be a bit more affordable.

A mistake made by Tom Holand while playing the role of Nathan Drake in The Uncharted Film

Most famous Spider-Man actor Tom Holland has wrapped up the working of the movie Uncharted back in October, and step forward to another project such as Spider-Man: No Way Home. The recent interview that has published this week has looked back on his performance in the Uncharted film through the lens of self-criticism.

If you see about the worrying of do he looked good in this shot, as acting is nothing about rather than playing a character. He also said that he thought there were elements of his performance in Uncharted where he kind of fell under the spell of being he wanted to look good then. He wanted this to be his cool moment. He had been played this very tough, very stoic guy, the role of Mark Wahlberg.

The character him is an action hero which is more irritating to him. Though he had not seen it so don’t know if he became successful or not. The important lessons that he had learned at times that it had less about land a mark and go through the scene and much more about landing a mark and also is standing like this and pointed to his biceps. According to him making biceps is a big mistake that he had made that he should never do it again.

The shooting of the Uncharted movie had now probably faced some trouble to develop the history. At first, it was announced back in 2008 and had got several obstacles and received many delays due to the big list of screenwriters and also the directors that had dropping from the project.

The final script has featured by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, It is also directed by Ruben Fleischer (Venom, Zombieland: Double Tap). The casting of this film is featuring Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan, Sophia Ali as Chloe Frazer, Tati Gabrielle as the Braddock, in an unnamed role we will see Antonio Banderas play the role, and obviously, Tom Holland will play the role of young Nathan Drake in the film.

Formula 1: 43% revenue drop in 2020

COVID-19 has hit all the sectors financially. Sports are also a part of it. Previously we have seen the revenue drops in Football, Cricket, and some other sports. Now Formula 1 also joins the list.

Formula 1’s revenues took an $877 million debt last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On Friday, Liberty Media reported that there was a 43% of revenue drop as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2019, a total of 21 races took place, and 22 had been planned for 2020, with 23 scheduled for 2021. But because of the Corona Virus outbreak, only 17 races took place last year, mostly without spectators. The events of Monaco and Singapore were cancelled. In the previous year, there was a total revenue of $2.022 billion. But in 2020, it drops down to $1.145 billion.

It was also reported that an annual operating loss of $386 million, compared to a previous profit of $17 million, and the 10 teams shared $711 million. It is $301 million less than the previous year and a drop of 30%.

Formula 1’s primary revenues are mostly come from race promotion fees, broadcasting deals and advertising and sponsorship. It also provides a significant part of the budget for smaller teams.

New chief executive Stefano Domenicali of Formula 1 said, “Due to the reduced number of races, the duration of the season and almost no fan attendance, unsurprisingly primary revenue declined.”

He also assured to make up the deficit this year as the race will be taking place in their scheduled time.

While TSMC increase 5nm process capacity to 120,000 wafers monthly, MediaTek gets full support from TSMC

0

The world’s largest semiconductor foundry in Taiwan has been the centre of attraction of the silicon valley for the last few years. It has got some of the biggest clients like Apple, NVIDIA, AMD, Qualcomm and MediaTek under its pockets and looks to progress even further down the line.

Its new 5nm process wafers are on high demand from customers like Apple, AMD and MediaTek, so, even though in a middle of a draught situation in Taiwan, TSMC is still positive about increasing its 5nm process capacity to 120,000 wafers monthly.

As per Digitimes’s latest report, TSMC is in a hurry to expand its 5nm process capacity and it is expected to hike by one-third in the second half of 2021 compared to that in the last quarter of 2020.

At first, it plans to scale up its 5nm process manufacturing capacity to 105,000 wafers monthly in the first half of 2021, up from 90,000 units in fourth-quarter 2020. Then a substantial increase to further expand the 5nm process capacity to 120,000 units in the second half of this year, as per Digitimes’s industry sources.

On the other hand, MediaTek, who has emerged to be the number one smartphone SoC maker overtaking Qualcomm at the end of last year, is getting support from its native foundry TSMC. MediaTek is said to have obtained sufficient 6nm and 7nm process capacity at TSMC, which will allow the mobile SoC specialist to boost its 5G chip shipments in 2021, according to Digitimes.

Real Madrid hope that Odegaard returns to his best after Arsenal spell

0

Martin Odegaard has been an absolute revelation for Arsenal this season. The Norwegian’s acquisition being heralded as the best deals of the summer. And that becomes even more apparent when you consider that he has been in great form as of late, and has been able to deliver what was asked of him – to be creative in attack.

Real Madrid are hoping that Odegaard can retain his form until he returns to the Spanish capital at the end of the season when his loan deal expires. The youngster barely featured for Real Madrid since the return of the midfield trio of Kroos,Casemiro and Modric and also struggled to perform at the beginning of the season.

The reason behind his shaky performances at the beginning of the season can be accounted for by the fact that he was suffering from tendonitis. While it does not rule a player out completely, it prevents them from performing at their best, and that is what Odegaard had to struggle with.

The midfielder spent the 19/20 season out on loan with Real Sociedad, and was very impressive while out on loan. Zidane gave him playing time for his parent club when he came back, and to say that Odegaard has been patient is an understatement.

The loan move to Arsenal can only be seen as an attempt to revitalise the player and get him back to his best. Arsenal have no option to buy the player, and hence, if Odegaard performs well, it ultimately benefits Madrid.

Chelsea to enter contract extension talks with Thiago Silva

0

Chelsea have been on a fine run of form as of late, but a majority of their defensive improvements from last season can be credited to Thiago Silva’s performances at the backline. Despite being past his mid-30s, the Brazilian manages to compete at the highest level and leaves no room for doubt.

While he was impressive under Frank Lampard in the first half of the season, the centre-back has impressed even further in the second half of the season, under Thomas Tuchel. Despite joining only at the beginning of the season, Silva has been very responsible and has also taken up the captain’s armband on numerous occasions, performing amazingly despite the increased pressure.

Silva and Tuchel have been reunited at Stamford Bridge, and they worked together at Paris Saint-Germain. The manager has immense respect for the player, and the feeling is mutual.

Chelsea are now planning to extend Thiago Silva’s contract at the club. The player originally joined on a one year deal, with the option to extend should the club think it necessary. And given the fact that Silva has been one of the best in the league, and is one of the first names on the team sheet, the Blues will be more than happy to have him stay.

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, via his Twitter account, Chelsea are entering negotiations to extend Silva’s contract for another year. The board is set to begin talks with the player’s agent soon, and the general feeling regarding the deal is a very positive one.

England most likely to make a formal complaint about the pitch in the Narendra Modi Stadium

England is contemplating making a formal complaint against the Ahmedabad pitch. As per the reports according to Daily Mail, England skipper Joe Root and their coach Chris Silverwood are anticipated to formally make a complaint along with Match Referee Javagal Srinath on the context of wicket where 3rd Test wrapped up in less than two days, which happens to be the shortest test match ever regarding the number of balls bowled in a completed test since 1935.

According to England Coach Chris Silverwood, this is the second time in India’s tour where they had to play on the underprepared wicket. The Chennai’s wicket and then in Ahmedabad saw an excessive turn from the start, which is a breach of ICC regulations.

‘We will be talking about certain things behind the scenes,’ stated Silverwood, when he was asked about the pitch condition at the re-constructed Narendra Modi Stadium regarding the wrapping up of the match on the second day.”‘We are disappointed to be sat here when there should be three days left.”

“We have spoken to the match referee once but not about the pitch, and now Joe and I have to have a conversation and see where we go with it. I’m not in a position to say what we should or shouldn’t do, but I’m not saying we just have to accept the pitch,” he further stated.

Before this, England skipper Joe Root & Silverwood grumbled to the referee regarding the umpiring standards and asked for some uniformity from the TV Umpire Shamshuddin after he twice quickly ruled in India’s favour on the first day.
