Following the official ceremony, FIFA President met with the FIFA team working at the regional office

BRAZZAVILLE, Congo (Republic of the), February 20, 2021/ — Another FIFA Regional Development Office, on this occasion in Brazzaville, the capital city of the Republic of the Congo, has been inaugurated, furthering FIFA’s commitment to support its member associations on the ground in the delivery of infrastructure, competitions, development and education projects.

The trip to Brazzaville also included separate meetings for the FIFA President with the President of the Republic of the Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso, the Minister of Sport of the Republic of the Congo, Hugues Ngouélondélé, and the President of the Congolese Football Association (FECOFOOT), Jean-Guy Mayolas.

“It is very important for FIFA to be present here today to listen to our member associations in central Africa and work together,” the FIFA President said at the ceremony. “We are doing this with the FIFA Forward programme that helps member associations, and that investment has been multiplied by five since I arrived at FIFA. We are here today with the staff of our regional development office to help the member associations, also together with CAF, to work hand-in-hand to tackle the challenges we face in the region.”

“We increased the number of African national teams eligible to qualify for the FIFA World Cup in 2026 from five to nine or ten. So there is work to be done so that African teams don’t just participate in the FIFA World Cup 2026, but shine there,” he added. “FIFA wants to see African football reach the highest of heights and we are certain that our network of regional offices will complement the work already underway to elevate African football.”

In 2017, FIFA took the decision to establish FIFA Regional Development Offices around the world in order to better serve its member associations and to be closer to their needs. Four of these offices are located in Africa: Dakar in Senegal, Johannesburg in South Africa, Brazzaville in the Republic of the Congo and Kigali in Rwanda.

Following the official ceremony, FIFA President met with the FIFA team working at the regional office, which is also located in the same building as FECOFOOT. The team has been operational since November 2020, but due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, the office could not be officially inaugurated until today.

Prior to the inauguration, the FIFA President met with Hugues Ngouélondélé, the Minister of Sport, to discuss how to elevate African football to the highest levels on the world stage, before a second meeting took place at Brazzaville International Airport with President of the Republic of the Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso. Discussions with the Republic of the Congo’s head of state focused on the opening of the FIFA Regional Development Office in Brazzaville and the important role that football plays in the country and across the region, as well as the recent success of the men’s national football team, the Red Devils, who reached the quarter-finals of last month’s CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN).

“Today’s meeting with President Sassou Nguesso was extremely positive and we are delighted with the strong support both he, and the government of the Republic of the Congo, has provided this new facility,” the FIFA President said. “Passion for football is very strong here, and we hope to encourage and develop the game even further through our new office.”

“On November 29, 2019, during your first visit, FIFA and the Republic of the Congo government agreed to install in Brazzaville, historic capital of African Olympism, the FIFA Regional Development Office for central Africa,” said FECOFOOT President Jean-Guy Mayolas. “On behalf of my colleagues, my fellow presidents of the federations of central Africa, I express all our gratitude. We can now say, that we are more close to FIFA and our various projects will be better managed and will have a happy outcome, for the positive development of football in central Africa. This is proof that Africa is your favourite land, and it is also proof of your commitment to support African football, which was a commitment you made during your election campaign to FIFA.”

Quin Synder and Doc Rivers to coach teams in 2021 NBA All-Star game

0

On Wednesday, the NBA announced the captains and 10 starters for this year’s All-Star Game. On Friday, coaches for each of the teams were declared.

While the squads have not been confirmed yet, it is known that the two team captains will be LeBron James and Kevin Durant, the top vote-getters in each conference. Each team will be coached by the head coach of the team in their conference with the best record as of Sunday, February 21.

Utah Jazz head coach Quin Snyder and his staff will coach Team LeBron, representing the Western Conference. Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doc Rivers and his staff will coach Team Durant, representing the Eastern Conference.

Snyder has earned a spot as an NBA All-Star Game head coach for the first time. Joining Frank Layden (1984), he is Jazz’s second NBA All-Star Game head coach. This season, he has guided Utah to an NBA-leading record of 24-5 (.828) which is the best start to a season in franchise history through 29 games. The Jazz will be seeking its 10th straight win when it visits the LA Clippers on Friday. He is merely five wins away from his 300th career win.

Team Durant saw a bit of drama in terms of deciphering who their head coach would be. With the Brooklyn Nets racing, their coach, Steve Nash, had a chance to earn the honour. A Philadelphia 76ers victory against the Chicago Bulls solidified the job for Doc Rivers and his staff.

Previously, Rivers guided the Eastern Conference in the 2008 and 2011 NBA All-Star Games as the Boston Celtics’ head coach. He is Philadelphia’s first NBA All-Star Game head coach since Larry Brown (2001), and ranks 10th on the league’s career wins list with a record of 963-691 (.582) in 22 NBA seasons.  He led the Celtics to the NBA championship in the 2007-08 season.

Since the inception of the reformatted All-Star Game, James has been a captain in every season. This will be Durant’s first chance to draft.

Similar to last season, the league will be using a modified version of the Elam Ending in which a target score 24 points ahead of the leading team’s point total is set after three quarters. The number 24 has been chosen to honour the late Lakers legend Kobe Bryant who died in a tragic helicopter accident last year.

The reserves for the All-Star Game will be announced on Tuesday, Feb. 23. The All-Star Draft will be held on Thursday, March 4.

Delhi Capital’s co-owner Parth Jindal hints at IPL 2021 being hosted entirely in Mumbai

The auction for IPL 2021 has been organized successfully. The IPL GC is yet to announce the final dates, schedule and foremost the venue for the mega tournament.

According to the co-owner of Delhi Capitals, Parth Jindal, who gave hints towards the possibility of hosting the league stage matches of the mega tournament playing at Mumbai this year.

Jindal also hinted that the knockout stages might be hosted at the newly-built Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, he also added that these claims are still unverified. “From what I’m hearing and seeing, if England can come and tour, if the ISL (Indian Super League) can happen all in Goa, if Vijay Hazare Trophy (domestic 50-over competition) and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (T20 competition) can happen across venues, I can’t fathom the IPL moving out of India. I do believe the IPL will happen in India,” Jindal stated.

“I believe they’re contemplating whether to have the league phase at one venue (city) and playoffs at another venue. There’s a lot of chatter about Mumbai being possibly being one venue because it has three grounds (Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium, DY Patil Stadium) and enough practice facilities, and Motera (Ahmedabad) hosting the knockouts, but it’s all unverified, it’s all just what I am hearing,” he further added.

via ipl’s twitter

Jindal also included that if the IPL is hosted in Mumbai for the league matches, it would be beneficial for Delhi, as most of the players hail from the city. However, it is not confirmed as the city is witnessing a soar in Covid-19 cases.

“If you look at our selection of Steven Smith, we felt the wickets in Mumbai will suit his style of batting. The fact that we have so many Mumbai boys – Prithvi [Shaw], Jinks [Ajinkya Rahane], Shreyas [Iyer] helps. Mumbai has true bounce, the ball moves a bit because it’s on the coast, and all that played a role,” added Jindal.

“The other option is being mulled right now is, why not open up all venues, go everywhere and show the world we’re ready for the T20 World Cup? They [BCCI[] are still unsure, I think it all depends on how the covid situation plays out in India over the next two weeks,” he stated.

Now, the details are out and the official launch of the K40 series smartphones will happen on 25th February 2021. The buzz related to the smartphone is already loud due to some of the leaks in the previous few weeks. Redmi will be hoping that the K40 smartphones can help the company to expand further.

Redmi is known to have different designs of its smartphones when compared to that of Xiaomi or Mi. But this upcoming series might be a step towards decreasing that difference. When Redmi K40 (M2012K11AC), and Redmi K40 Pro (M2012K11C) were seen on TENAA certification, we got an idea of what can they offer to the customers.

The camera module is expected to have a similar rear camera setup as compared to the Xiaomi Mi 11. The smartphone won’t be having a pop-up camera mechanism but instead, have a centered punch-hole panel. A popular tipster, Lu Weibing, also stated that this punch-hole will be the smallest in the world till now.

How to Import First Two Hitman Games From Steam?

0

Earlier this month, IO Interactive had announced that the import function would begin before the end of February. The team has finally now confirmed that the owners of Hitman 1 and 2 can now import both games’ locations into the new Hitman 3 for free.

But Hitman 3 is available on Epic Store exclusive, and Hitman 2 is only available on Steam, which created a problem for the studio. IO then came to an initial solution to offer an access pass for the locations of Hitman 2 at a discounted rate, which surprisingly wasn’t received very well. They did promise that the company would work out a solution to import the locations free-of-charge for existing users, but it would take a bit of time.

On 18th February 2021, IO Interactive has announced officially on Twitter via the studio’s account, saying that, “We’re pleased to share that HITMAN 3 PC players can now import locations from HITMAN 1 and HITMAN 2 at no additional cost.”

To transfer the locations over to Hitman 3, IO is still using the access pass, but now they have thrown up a dedicated webpage for those, who have the first two games from the series to claim the passes for free. It’s basically “a simple three-step process,” one which IO recommends all the users to do it on your PC as the website is not optimized for mobile.

It’s been a month now that Hitman 3 has been released globally, for Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, and PC.

FIFA 21: EA Sports answers why Mason Greenwood doesn’t have a proper face in the game

0

FIFA 21 is the start of the franchise’s next-gen graphic games. EA Sports claimed that the game would be much more detailed than its predecessor FIFA 20. The next-gen consoles, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X, are also one of the major reasons for the overhaul.

But there’s a strange thing in FIFA 21. Manchester United is one of the most famous football clubs in the world. Mason Greenwood is their most exciting youngster right now. Surprisingly, Greenwood doesn’t have a proper face in the game.

The 19-year-old, who recently signed a new deal at Old Trafford, have a bizarre face in the game. It was expected that EA Sports would correct the face when the game would launch for the next-gen consoles but sadly, that was not the case.

So Manchester Evening News contacted EA Sports to ask about the reason for Greenwood’s weird in-game face. The spokesperson said: “Due to the current global pandemic, unfortunately, we haven’t been able to visit the training ground this year due to club restrictions on external party access.”

“We were able to capture Brandon Williams’ head scan during a visit to Carrington in February 2020 but Mason was unavailable to attend this session.”

So as things stand now, EA Sports will be unable to scan his face in recent times. Maybe, we will have to wait for FIFA 22 to get Greenwood’s original face in the game.

Apple might start manufacturing iPads in India this year

As per the report, US tech giant Apple is preparing to shift a part of the production of iPads to India. This does connect with India’s ambition to become a manufacturing hub, especially in the domain of electronics. Currently, Apple does manufacture some of its iPhone models in India. This is done with the aid of contractual agreements with Foxconn, Pegatron and Wistron.

Till now, a major chunk of iPads is produced in China. Due to the negative business climate between the US and China, Apple wants to diversify its manufacturing space. A Reuters report says that the Cupertino-based company is looking to lobby the Indian government to strike a better deal.

The Indian government has rolled out many incentive programs in recent years to attract foreign companies to start manufacturing in India. Getting Apple to build its iPads in India will be another big achievement for the national government. The US giant is aiming to strike a deal of around Rs. 200 billion, whereas the amount tabled by the government is Rs. 70 billion ($964 million) over the space of five years.

According to the company, the Indian supply chain lacks a lot of quality. This will force them to bear an additional cost. The Indian government has launched a number of programs and campaigns like “Make in India”, “Vocal for local”, “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” and others. The US companies are reportedly planning to leave China permanently.

In that case, they have to find another market with sound technology and cheap labour. India does qualify in that list and we might see some of the big companies in the world heading our way for manufacturing. The reports suggest that a part of the production of the iPads can shift to India as early as this year.

Jamal Murray posted a historic 50-point performance in a win over Cavs

0

On Friday night, Jamal Murray of the Denver Nuggets scored a career-high 50 points and became the first player in NBA history to collect that many without trying a free throw as Denver adjusted to a schedule change by handing the Cleveland Cavaliers their ninth consecutive loss, 120-103.

After the game, Murray said that he was unaware that he had done something so unique. “I was just making my shots,” he said nonchalantly, while taking sips of a postgame smoothie. “It’s kind of cool to make history. It’s a cool stat.”

In the second half, Murray exploded for 30 points, ending his career night with a jackhammer dunk, reaching 50. The fourth quarter saw Murray sink three three-pointers in 63 seconds. In total, he converted 21 of 25 shots, including 8 of 10 from the 3-point arc, and he added six rebounds. He broke Denver’s two-game losing streak and improved their record to 16-13 on the season.

“That’s an incredible stat line,” said Nuggets coach Michael Malone, on Murray’s performance. “He was on fire.”

Nikola Jokic celebrated his 26th birthday with his seventh triple-double of the season. Denver’s All-Star center ended the night with 16 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. He is tied with Luka Doncic and Russell Westbrook for the NBA lead in triple-doubles. He also recently became the first Nugget since Carmelo Anthony in 2011 to be named an All-Star starter.

“I couldn’t be happier for Nikola because he’s done everything I’ve ever asked of him,” said coach Malone. “After every season, it’s never been, ‘Go work on your jump shot, your 3-point shot, your left hook, your right hook.’ It’s always been, ‘Nikola, you have to mature, you have to grow up, you have to handle adversity, you have to be a leader, you have to be more vocal, you have to be in great shape.’ And he’s done all that. I’m so happy for the success he’s having.”

Collin Sexton led the Cavaliers with 23 points, and Jarrett Allen added 20 points and 10 boards. After a strong start, Cleveland has fallen near the bottom of the Eastern Conference table.
