After the launch of iPhone 8, Google has finally brought the Google Pixel 2. Google Pixel will be available from November 2017(1st of the month for Indian customers). You might get confused which 1 to buy so we have brought you the best between the 2 of them. Excited to know who has won the battle? Well then let’s start off the battle :

Design :

Well none of them look astonishing, but in comparison with Pixel 2, iPhone is much better in looks. Due to the all-glass backs iPhone 8 is more elegant, also they support wireless charging too.

The Pixel 2 measures 5.7 x 2.7 x 0.3 inches and weighs 5.01 ounces, while the iPhone 8 is 5.5 x 2.7 x 0.29 inches and weighs 5.22 ounces. So Google gets points here for delivering a bigger 5-inch screen (versus 4.7 inches) in a lighter design.

The Pixel 2 XL delivers a 6-inch screen in a 6.2 x 3 x 0.3-inch package that weighs 6.2 ounces, while the iPhone 8 Plus (6.24 x 3.1 x 0.3 inches, 7.13 ounces) is taller and wider and heavier, despite having a smaller 5.5-inch screen.

Overall iPhone 8 wins because of the premium glass back design and its comfortable feel.

Performance :

Pixel has just been kicked off in this segment. Apple’s A11 Bionic chip has paced the iPhone to record-breaking results in synthetic benchmarks, but it also outpaced the Pixel 2 on real-world tests. Though Pixel has 4GB RAM but the Embedded M11 Motion Coprocessor Processor in iPhone 8 makes it run the fastest. On Geekbench, which measures overall performance, the iPhone 8 hit 10,170, compared with 6,282 for the Pixel 2.

No doubts at all iPhone 8 is the king.

Display :

Well in this section Pixel 2 has gained a lead over iPhone 8 finally.  The Pixel 2 has OLED panel and the 5-inch Pixel 2 (1920 x 1080 pixels) look richer and more saturated, and whites are more of a pure white. With the 4.7-inch iPhone 8 (1334 x 750) gives much sharper images rather than the Pixel 2. Unlike Google’s phones, the new iPhones sport True Tone displays, which means the white balance on the screen automatically adjusts based on ambient light; this could make reading easier on the eyes.

So Pixel 2 has a much richer screen than the iPhone 8.

Camera :

Well this section does matter a lot to customers, let’s see who wins. According to tom’s guide,  iPhone 8 and 8 Plus have the edge when it comes to sheer photo quality. Apple’s handset delivered more vibrant colors and better contrast in a series of shots. With 12.2 MP the Pixel 2 offers better detail and more consistent exposure. Plus, both the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are capable of taking Portrait shots that blur out the background from both the front and back cameras, thanks to advanced post processing. iPhone 8’s advanced 12 MP rear camera packs a larger and faster sensor, a new color filter, deeper pixels, and optical image stabilization for photos and videos. The camera enables digital zoom up to 5x. Also the iPhone 8 Plus can do portraits with its dual back cameras.

No doubts that iPhone 8 has beaten Pixel 8 straightaway.

Battery Life :

The Pixel 2 has beaten i[hone 8 in this segment. With its 2700 mah battery, it lasts much longer than the Apple’s beast. According to Tom’s Guide Battery Test, which involves continuous web surfing over LTE, the Pixel 2 lasted 11 hours and 7 minutes, and the Pixel 2 hit 12:09.

At the end of the day Pixel 2 lasts longer.

Special Features :

Both support wireless charging but iPhone 8 has the advantage over the Google phone because but Pixel 2 don’t support the Qi standard, so they simply won’t work with a growing number of wireless charging pads. But Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL offer more compelling special features overall, as Google Assistant is smarter and more versatile than Siri, and you can access it with just a quick squeeze of the bottom of the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. With the new Google Lens feature can recognize objects (anything from landmarks to businesses to signs with phone numbers) so you can instantly act on that info. Also with accessories like Daydream headset for VR and Pixel Buds the phone is more smarter.

Cost :

Pixel 2 is cheaper a bit than the iPhone 8. Pixel 2 will cost you $649 with 64GB of storage. You can up that to 128GB for $100 more. The iPhone 8 starts at $699, and it will cost you an extra $150 to get 256GB of storage.

The Pixel 2 XL starts at a fairly high $849 for 64GB, and you’ll pay $949 for 128GB of storage. The iPhone 8 Plus has a lower starting price of $799, but you’ll pay $949 at the top end for twice the storage of the Pixel 2 XL at 256GB.

The Pixel 2 is the better value than the iPhone 8, but the iPhone 8 Plus is cheaper than the Pixel 2 XL.

So, we can conclude that in respect to all aspects iPhone 8 is more  valuable and better than the Google Phone. The iPhone 8’s strongest wins come in the camera and performance categories, and it has a slight edge in design.

England played against Brazil in the semi-final of the Under-17 World Cup in Kolkata, as the match got cancelled in Guwahati, India. On Wednesday afternoon as they attemptef to replicate the achievements of the Under-20s and win the entire tournament.

The Young Lions won their group stage by defeating their opponents like Iraq, Mexico and Chile, before defeating Japan on penalties in the last 16 and then the USA by four goals to one, for reaching this stage of the competition. Brazil had come from behind to beat Germany in an entertaining quarter final and are the slight favorite with the bookies to win this clash.

England vs Brazil U-17

England’s star forward Jadon Sancho was recalled by Borussia Dortmund before the knock-out stages, having scored three goals in the group. Liverpool’s Rhian Brewster is England’s top scorer, with four goals and Manchester United youngster Angel Gomes is England’s second top scorer, with two.

Other players to watch out for include Man City’s Phil Foden, who impressed during pre-season, and Brazil’s Lincoln, who is a future wonder kid in Football Manager. They rarely get their scouting wrong.

It’s the new Michael Owen! The ball is worked well by England out to the right, the cross comes across the box and Brewster is in the right place at the right time. Excellent positional awareness and he gets the finish right too, even if he nearly shanks it wide.

Brewster is the hero of the day. But the skill and clever play of Phil Foden makes this one. He lays it wide, the cross comes in and Brewster smashes in at the back post.

Samsung Brings a New Revolution in Storage : Samsung SSD T5

The tech giant Samsung Has brought the first of its kind portable SSD storage – Samsung SSD T5

Solid state drives like the 2TB Samsung Portable SSD T5 ($799.99) buck the 2.5-inch form factor of their portable hard drive predecessors. Since SSDs don’t need to house a spinning platter, they’re a whole lot smaller and easier to slip into a small pocket.  The T5 is now dangerously close in size to far more expensive solid-state storage devices like Kingston’s DataTraveler Ultimate  USB drive.

As just 0.4 by 2.3 by 3.0 inches (HWD) and weighs about 50gms, the T5 is imperceptibly heavier and the same size as its predecessor, the Samsung Portable SSD T3. The 1TB ($399.99) and 2TB versions have a monochromatic black finish, while the 250GB ($129.99) and 500GB ($199.99) capacities are blue.

Specs:

The T5 adopts the form factor of the T3 (and the T1). Also it swaps the connector for a 10Gbps USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 2 model, delivering twice the maximum theoretical transfer rate of its predecessors.

The drive measures 74 x 57 x 10.5mm and weighs only 51g, making it small and light enough to be shoved into even a tight front jeans pocket with ease. It is made entirely of metal (with a swish brushed finish) and except for the big Samsung logo on the front, the power LED and the Type-C connector, there’s nothing of note to comment on. Samsung claims up to a 540MBps data-transfer rate.

Choosing a metallic chassis ensures that the chips inside are properly cooled and increases the overall sturdiness of the device. It improves its dollar-to-gigabyte ratio and its performance significantly. At $799 for 2TB, it’s made for well-heeled hobbyists and graphics artists. But with it, you’ll have speedy access to a massive library’s worth of data that fits in your jeans pocket. It’s particularly handy for 4K video editors and photographers with huge archives.

Note that you will achieve much higher numbers if you use a compatible USB Type-C Gen 2 connector, up to 540MBps/515MBps respectively in read/write speeds according to Samsung.

You get USB Type-C to Type-C and Type-C to Type-A cables, both about a foot long, plus a 256-bit AES hardware encryption and software suite for Windows, macOS, and Android.

Final verdict

The Samsung Portable SSD T5 corrects the T3’s most glaring omission by including a USB-C cable, and improves its dollar-to-gigabyte ratio and its performance significantly. At $799 for 2TB, it’s made for well-heeled hobbyists and graphics artists. But with it, you’ll have speedy access to a massive library’s worth of data that fits in your jeans pocket. Controlling the entire supply chain means bigger margins. As for the competition, the Samsung T3 is now far cheaper than the T5. So it might be a better choice for those who aren’t too fussed about the performance gain on the T5.

China Saw the Unveiling of this ‘Bothie’ Camera Smart Phone : Nokia 7

HMD Global has unveiled a new mid-range smartphone in China recently. With Nokia 7, buyers will get flagship-like features at roughly half the price of Nokia 8. It is the first Android smartphone from the brand to sport a glass back — a vacuum-moulded 3D Corning Gorilla Glass construction. The phone has a rear panel  that uses 3D glass thermoforming technology for casting and features with rounded corners. Also it has aerospace-grade 7000 Series aluminium frame with diamond-cut beveled edges.

Specs :

The 4G RAM variant of the Nokia 7 will be available in China from October 24 for ¥2,499 (or approx Rs 24, 731). The 6GB RAM variant will sell for ¥2,699 (or approx Rs 26,710). Both offer 64GB internal memory.

The latest addition to the Nokia’s Android smartphone portfolio packs an f/1.8 aperture lens and comes with ‘bothie’ camera mode. This is the second Nokia phone to include a ‘bothie’ mode that lets the phone capture photos from the front and rear camera at the same time, combining them into a single image. The handset also supports live video streaming to Facebook and YouTube from the built-in camera. With the Nokia 7, HMD Global claims users can go live on Facebook from within the camera app and use the “Dual-Sight mode.”

On the connectivity front, it comes with the latest Bluetooth v5.0, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, a 3.5mm headset jack, GPS, USB Type-C port and also supports NFC. The phone is powered by a 3000mAh non-removable battery with support for 18W fast charging.HMD Global has also confirmed that the Nokia 7 is Android Oreo-ready. It features 5.2-inch IPS 2.5D display with screen resolution of 1080×1920 pixels and also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top.

On the camera front, the Nokia 7 sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture lens and dual tone flash. At the front, there’s 5-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture. The phone measures 141.2×71.4×7.9mm. It also comes with 4K video with Nokia OZO audio technology that supports 360-degree recording.

The 7 runs on stock Android 7.1.1 Nougat and Nokia promises to update the same with timely updates. Lastly, the smartphone comes in two colour variants — Gloss Black and Matte White. Additionally, the device offers a dual SIM slot with 4G LTE and VoLTE capability on either SIMS.

Availability :

The all-new Nokia 7 has been launched first in China and will go on sale starting Tuesday. There’s no word on the availability of the Nokia 7 outside China as of now.
