Ahmad Confederation of African Football (CAF) presidential chances in tatters as Exco snubs his candidacy

0

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) might have provisionally suspended his ban by the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) but Ahmad Ahmad is not out of the woods yet in his bid to regain the presidency of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

He thus faces a race against time with polls scheduled for next month in Rabat, Morocco.

The Madagascan official, found guilty by FIFA for financial misconduct and banned him for five years last November, still barbours ambitions of a return to CAF’s highest office.

However, in an about turn, the executive committee (Exco) of the continental mother body deemed FIFA should have the final say on the matter.

With FIFA unlikely to rescind its decision, it appears the 61-year-old’s prospects of leading the organisation, and the automatic rule as FIFA’s vice-president is null.

The CAF Exco met at a heated meeting in Cameroon ahead of the conclusion of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) where the board decided to ignore the independent Governance Committee’s advice.

The Exco opted to rely on FIFA’s position on the matter, which at the moment, is a ban.

The meeting in Cameroon was Ahmad’s first official event since his ban by FIFA last November.

He left the meeting in a huff while his candidacy was under discussion.

Ahmad also lost in his attempts to have the March 12 polls postponed.

A postponement could have bought the beleaguered executive, found guilty of breaching FIFA’s Code of Ethics, some time.

It is believed a majority of the CAF Exco is advocating for Ahmad to excuse himself from the election.

Jacques Anouma (Ivory Coast), Patrice Motsepe (South Africa), Augustin Senghor (Senegal) and Ahmed Yahya (Mauritania) are in the running for the polls.

2021 MacBook Pro will come with a Flat-Edged design similar to the iPhone 12

0

As per the assumptions, the new 2021 MacBook Pro models are expected to come into the market during the second quarter of 2021 to get a redesign. There is a possibility that we could see the upcoming machines with a design similar to the iPhone 12.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the new MacBook Pro models will offer a flat-edge design, similar to the iPhone 12. The new Apple Silicon iMac expected to come in March could also offer the same redesign, but that’s not confirmed officially yet.

Kuo is the person who mentioned earlier that Apple has plans to introduce one 14.1-inch and one 16-inch MacBook Pro model in 2021. The analyst hadn’t mentioned previously about these notebooks getting a design like iPhone 12. If you are more curious about the performance and I/O than the design changes, it seems the 2021 MacBook Pro line will offer that too. The upcoming Apple Silicon will feature 12 cores, which hints that new models could feature a chipset much powerful than the M1.

Coming to connectivity, Kuo believes along with the MagSafe connector, Apple will bring back the SD card slot on the 2021 MacBook Pro models. In 2016, when Apple introduced a MacBook Pro model redesign, at that time, the MagSafe, SD card slot, and display ports were removed. All the ports were replaced with USB-C which supports Thunderbolt 3.

As per Kuo’s assumption, Apple will pull out the Touch Bar and bring the function row. We will give you more details when Apple 2021 MacBook Pro line is officially here, so stay tuned with us.

TSMC could see a 12% YoY growth in 2021 after a robust 2020 revenue

0

The world’s largest chip foundry has been on the frontline of success since last few years, enjoying the handsome growth in the industry as well as gaining heavyweight customers like Apple, AMD, NVIDIA, Qualcomm, MediaTek and others.

In 2020, TSMC saw a record-breaking success in terms of revenue with double-digit profits year-on-year, thanks to the strong demand for CPUs, GPUs, notebooks, HPC & server computing. So, last year, the Taiwanese foundry saw record revenue of $82 billion, representing a 23% YoY growth.

Counterpoint Research has predicted that TSMC will again see a 12% YoY growth with total revenue of $92 billion. Obviously, this is a prediction, however, considering the immense demand of TSMC’s manufacturing nodes and its new plant in Arizona, TSMC could exceed the industry expectations this year.

They also expect TSMC to post about 13%-16% YoY sales growth in 2021, thanks to the strong demand for 5nm process nodes. Apple is predicted to be the biggest customer for TSMC’s 5nm nodes in 2021 and AMD on the 7nm front.

On the other hand, TSMC’s biggest rival Samsung is expected to drive more order wins from external customers such as Qualcomm and Nvidia. The South Korean giant is expected to post a 20% YoY revenue in 2021 as well, thanks to the strong demand for its 5nm, 7nm and 8nm nodes.

Lionel Messi becomes the Player of the Decade by IFFHS

0

Another feather has been added to Lionel Messi’s crown. The FC Barcelona captain was named the Player of the Decade [2011-2020] by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).

IFFHS announced the top 10 players of the decade. Lionel Messi stands top, whereas Cristiano Ronaldo finished a close second. Three more former FC Barcelona player was in the list as well. Andres Iniesta was 3rd, Neymar 4th, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic was 9th. FC Barcelona’s rival Real Madrid has three players on the list as well. Sergio Ramos and Luka Modric in the list in 5th and 10th, respectively, apart from Cristiano Ronaldo’s runner-up finish.

The Argentine was voted as the best South American player of the last decade, accompanied by his former teammates Neymar and Dani Alves in the 2nd and 3rd place. Whereas Cristiano Ronaldo became the best European player of the last decade.

This is Lionel Messi’s 17th season for the senior team of FC Barcelona. He joined the club in 2001 in FC Barcelona’s famous youth academy ‘La Masia’.

In 2004, he was promoted to the senior team. On 16th October 2004, he made his debut against Espanyol at the age of 17. The Argentine came on as a sub in place of Portuguese legend Deco.

He is now holding the records of the most La Liga wins and goals for a Barcelona player, as well as the most titles.

It is always a debate who is the best player in Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo’s history. It is very tough to separate these two by stats. But this achievement will surely give an advantage to Lionel Messi in this debate.

Apple Glass will interpret user’s eyes to track their attention

As we all are aware that Apple is already busy in created an AR Glass, we have another exciting update for you. The US tech giant has filed a special and intriguing patent related to their AR-based wearable with USPTO’s official repository. This patent is named “Utilization of Luminance Changes to Determine User Characteristics”.  You can view the patent here.

This patent gives us a suggestion that Apple plans to measure changes in a user’s eyes as a signal if the user is actually interested in viewing that content or not. This means if some content is being played on your AR glass, the way you are viewing that content will give the wearable a hint if you are keen to see more of that content or not.

Based on that measurement the brightness of the content which is being displayed will be adjusted. Also, the content can be changed automatically altogether if it is understood that they are not interested in watching that.

The patent which Apple has filed says “identify a state of a user (e.g., attentive, distracted, mind wandering, etc.) based on the user’s physiological (e.g., pupillary) response to luminance change events in which a portion or all of the content quickly becomes brighter or dimmer.”

It has to first of a kind product that interprets the physiological responses of the user and alters itself accordingly. According to the patent, the pupil of users will act as an important indicator. The device will have sensors that will detect the movements of the pupils of a user’s eyes.

These sensors will see if the pupils are contracted or dilated when the user is viewing the content. Apple speaks “if the luminance of the content increases while the user is attentive and engaged, the pupillary response may be slower and smaller in magnitude.” With help of this, Apple is preparing to deliver the best experience to the user.

Manchester City beat Liverpool at Anfield to strengthen their claim on the Premier League title

0

The bad phase of Liverpool continues.

Manchester City beat Liverpool at Anfield. Pep Guardiola’s men thrashed the defending champion in their own territory.

Both teams came up with the best sets of players they have. The first half ended in a 0-0 score. Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan missed a penalty in the first half. But he made up his mistake in the second half by scoring a brace.

Gundogan put City in the lead in the 50th minute. Mo Salah equalized in the 63rd minute from the spot. But that was not enough. Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson made two cheap mistakes, and Manchester City capitalized on them. Phil Foden sealed the victory for City in the 83rd minute.

After the game Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp said, “For big parts of the game we were brilliant – we played really good football. I can see in your eyes you see it differently. I really liked our performance in the first half. At the start of the second half, City changed the system and we didn’t give enough options to play and then gave the first goal away.”

“We scored the equalizer and at that moment it looked like the game could go our way, and then we make two massive mistakes – everyone saw them. We were really down after that, it’s tough to take, and then Foden scored the fourth goal with a genius situation.”

“The performance was good most of the time. Really, really good. If we had played like this more often we would not be 10 points behind City.”

On Allison’s mistake, he said, “There’s no real explanation for Alisson’s errors. In the first one we didn’t give him many options, but the second one he just mishit the ball. Maybe he had cold feet or something. It sounds funny but it could be. Ali saved our life plenty of times, and tonight he made two mistakes – that’s how it is.”

Liverpool have now lost 3 back to back games at Anfield, the first time since 1992. They are now 10 points behind the league leaders Manchester City. It will be tough for them to retain their crown.

AC Milan’s success this season: How smart recruitment can change things significantly

0

Anybody who had predicted that AC Milan would actually top the table at this stage of the season would have been deemed overly positive regarding the club considering their performance last season. However, the 20/21 campaign has completely changed things for the once European Giants.

Today, Milan managed to defeat Crotone 4-0 at home to extend their stronghold at the top of the Serie A table. Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ante Rebic managed to score a brace each, with Hakan Calhanoglu assisting both of Rebic’s goals while Theo Hernandez and Rafael Leao set up Zlatan’s.

The Rossoneri are now two points clear from their city rivals Inter, who have 47 points from 21 games played.

Arguably one of the most important factors behind the success of Stefano Pioli’s team is that of their recruitment process that saw them land Brahim Diaz, Sandro Tonali, Fikayo Tomori, Soualiho Meite, Diogo Dalot and Mario Mandzukic this year to bulk up their squad very respectably.

Transfer insiders Fabrizio Romano and Francesco Porzio praised the business conducted by Paulo Maldini and co. at AC Milan, saying that it is not a coincidence that Milan have found themselves signing so many good players in such a short span of time for a nominal fee, while a majority of them are on loan.

The Rossoneri are not taking things casually and are hell bent on retaining their position at the top of the Serie A table till the end of the season. It is safe to say that the San Siro Reds are well equipped to boost their chances of usurping Juventus significantly.

The curious case of Manchester City’s Jayden Braaf

0

Manchester City agreed on a late loan deal for their U23 winger Jayden Braaf, who joined Udinese till the end of the season. The transfer involved a simple loan without a buy option. Rather interestingly, the Serie A club announced the deal after the transfer window in Italy.

However, all the necessary procedures had already taken place before the end of the transfer window to secure the temporary signing of the player.

As mentioned before, the deal is a straight loan for €6 million but without a buy option. But as one might guess, Udinese were trying hard to add a buy option into the clause of the teenage winger. But the deal-breaker comes in the form of Manchester City wanting to be in control.

Their play is that if another club were to arrive for Braaf, they would want to have the player under their radar and want to have him if he performs well.

The surprising thing regarding this transfer was that the City actually blocked the winger’s exit earlier in January. Borussia Dortmund were once again looking for a young Manchester City winger, and considering the fate of the last one, the Premier League club were wise to block the exit of Braaf to the Black and Yellow club.
