The FIFA President also had the opportunity to meet CAF presidential candidate Jacques Anouma
RABAT, Morocco, February 25, 2021/ — FIFA President Gianni Infantino concluded his visit to Morocco by thanking his highness, King Mohammed VI, the Moroccan government and Moroccan Football Association (FRMF) for their commitment and continuous support for the development of football in the country and beyond.
“I would like to thank everyone who has accompanied us on this visit, firstly his majesty King Mohammed VI, for his interest and passion for football, and for his support and ambition to grow the sport even further in Morocco,” the FIFA President said. “Without him, and without the support of both the government and everyone at the federation, this development would not be possible. We were able to discuss openly and to identify concretely the projects for the future development of not only Moroccan football, but of African football, and football across the world, especially as Morocco plays a pivotal role in the global game.”
While in Rabat, the FIFA President also had the opportunity to meet CAF presidential candidate Jacques Anouma, who is also visiting the country.
“I was very happy to have the chance to discuss with Jacques Anouma his plans for the future of African football and how can FIFA, CAF and the African member associations work together, hand in hand, to bring African football to the very top level it deserves to be,” the FIFA President said.
In recent days, during his trip to several African countries, the FIFA President has met with four candidates to for the upcoming CAF presidential elections, namely Jacques Anouma, Patrice Motsepe, Augustin Senghor and Ahmed Yahya.
The trip, which has spanned nine countries to date, will also include visits to Mali and Benin. A visit to Ivory Coast was also foreseen, but it will be rescheduled for a later occasion primarily because a meeting with head of state, President Alassane Ouattara, could not be facilitated on the originally planned date.
With the NBA All-Star break rapidly approaching, and so is the end of the first half of the 2020-21 schedule. On Wednesday, the league officially released the second half of the regular season schedule. Starting after the All-Star break, the schedule will run through May 16.
Previously, the league and its players had agreed to play a 72-game slate. Therefore the NBA only released the first half of the schedule, early December, in order to provide itself some flexibility for any games that had to be postponed because of teams dealing with various COVID-19 related issues. Around 29 games have been postponed.
The NBA regular season game and broadcast schedule for the second half of the 2020-21 season is live, which will begin Wednesday, March 10 and conclude Sunday, May 16!
March 10 to May 16 ‘ Second half of the regular season
May 18 to May 21 ‘ Play-in tournament
May 22 to July 22 ‘ Playoffs
In the second half, the San Antonio Spurs and Memphis Grizzlies have the most games to be played, with each having to cram 40 games into a 68-day stretch of the calendar. These two teams had their schedules hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic. Additionally, the Indiana Pacers, Chicago Bulls, Charlotte Hornets, Phoenix Suns and Portland Trail Blazers also have more than half of their 72-game schedules still to play after the All-Star break. The Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks are scheduled to play 38 games apiece in the second half. On the other hand are the Los Angeles Clippers, who will have just 34 games to be played in a 67-day period.
The play-in tournament scheduled from May 18 to 21 will feature the teams that finish from seventh through 10th in the Western and Eastern conferences playing for the final two playoff spots on each side of the bracket.
In the first games of the play-in tournament, the seventh seed will host the eighth seed in each conference, with the winner of each conference’s game receiving one playoff spot. Then, the losers of those first games will host either the ninth or 10th seed in their respective conference — depending which of the lowest seeds wins the games played between those two teams — for the second playoff spot.
The second half of the season will start with a pair of games on March 10: Wizards at Grizzlies (8 p.m. ET) and the Spurs at Mavericks (8:30 p.m. ET on NBA TV).

The Catalonian giants, FC Barcelona’s presidential candidate Joan Laporta, have finally announced the list of names that will join him in his sporting project if he wins the elections. Rafael Yuste, who would take over as vice-president and Laporta as President, has revealed that two important additions will be made to their project in a press conference.
The duo also announced that former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes would join his list of staff along with Mateu Alemany. Valdes, who has spent a scintillating career at FC Barcelona and was also briefly involved with the U19 team as a youth coach, will now make a return to the club if Laporta wins the election.
Yuste also mentioned that Alemany would be a significant addition to the club due to his wide knowledge of football: “Alemany has an enormous knowledge of football at all levels. We will be happy to have him if Laporta wins the elections.”
Ahead of this, Mateu Alemany’s previous position was that of general manager at Valencia. He soon, in 2017, took charge of the club’s reconstruction and helped them qualify for the UEFA Champions League back to back two years in a row.
Yuste also zealously recalled the club’s success under Laporta’s erstwhile tenure at the club and expressed their wish to bring back the club’s legend Carles Puyol as well: “Barcelona succeeded greatly during Laporta’s era. To do that again. we need to recover the values, those represented by Carles Puyol, whom we also want back at the club.”
“When Laporta says that he believes Messi will continue, it’s because he knows it,” Yuste further added, commenting upon Lionel Messi’s continuation with the club.
Laporta is the most favourite candidate to win the elections, which are set up for the 7th of March. Under Laporta, the fond memories come back for Blaugrana fans. If he again wins the election, the optimism would touch the sky.
ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB graphics cards provide incredible performance for compact builds.
Mumbai, India, February 25, 2021 — ASUS today announced new ROG Strix, TUF Gaming, and ASUS Dual graphics cards that feature the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB GPU. The lineup marks an expanded offering of the NVIDIA Ampere architecture, formerly featured in upmarket GPUs. Each graphics card brings out the best of the latest NVIDIA chipset with next-level thermal solutions, enhanced PCBs, and robust power designs.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB GPU
With its efficient, high-performance architecture and the second generation of NVIDIA RTX™ platform, the GeForce® RTX 3060 brings amazing hardware ray-tracing capabilities and support for NVIDIA DLSS and other technologies and is priced starting at $329.
Like all RTX 30 series GPUs, the RTX 3060 supports the trifecta of GeForce gaming innovations ― NVIDIA DLSS, NVIDIA Reflex and NVIDIA Broadcast ― which accelerate performance and enhance image quality. Together with real-time ray tracing, these technologies are the foundation of the GeForce gaming platform, which brings unparalleled performance and features to games and gamers everywhere.
ROG Strix: Take flight
From top to bottom, ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB graphics cards deliver powerful thermal designs and are optimized for the dynamic NVIDIA Ampere architecture.
A shroud with metal accents encompasses a trio of fans featuring the cutting-edge ASUS Axial-tech fan design: a more compact fan hub allows for longer fan blades, and full-height barrier rings provide boosted static pressure to pump air through the heatsink fins and onto the GPU heat spreader. A reversal of the center fan’s rotational direction lessens turbulence to enhance airflow efficiency. The fans and top of the graphics card are also illuminated by an addressable RGB element that can be customized with Armoury Crate software.
A large heatsink that fills most of the card’s 2.7-slot footprint was designed to leverage the increased airflow. To get heat up off the die and into the heatsink array, MaxContact technology has been utilized to polish the surface of the heat spreader and improve smoothness at the microscopic level. The extra flatness allows for better contact with the die for enhanced thermal transfer.
In addition to an enhanced cooling array, Super Alloy Power II components, including top-shelf capacitors, chokes and power stages, effortlessly deliver hundreds of watts at a millisecond’s notice. The card’s components are soldered to the PCB using ASUS-exclusive Auto-Extreme Technology to ensure precise joints and that each card meets rigorous ROG specifications for reliability.
Also included are FanConnect II headers that allow PWM fans to be tuned based on CPU and GPU temperatures, providing extra intake or exhaust for demanding 3D tasks and compute workloads. Builders looking for a quick and simple way to adjust their card’s default fan speeds can flick an onboard Dual BIOS switch to choose between “performance” and “quiet” profiles, without additional software.
Another ease-of-use feature is an onboard voltage-sensing circuit that monitors PSU rail voltage. The circuit is fast enough to catch any transients that result in the rail voltage dropping too low. If that happens, a red LED will light up to indicate a power supply issue, making it easier to debug the source of crashes during gameplay.
Flipping the card around reveals more design improvements. For enhanced heat dissipation, a wide backplate vent and shortened PCB allow hot air to escape towards chassis exhaust fans instead of being recycled back into the cooler. Stainless steel is used for the I/O bracket to protect ports and provide a more secure mount. To top it off, an ROG logo with addressable RGB backlighting adds flair.
The ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB graphics card provides a dynamic thermal design. Paired with the outstanding performance of the NVIDIA Ampere architecture, ROG Strix provides gamers with access to fresh experiences, from incredible frame rates in competitive titles, to smooth high-resolution gameplay in immersive AAA games.
TUF Gaming: Built TUF
TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB graphics cards provide exceptionally robust power and cooling. An all-metal shroud houses three powerful Axial-tech fans that utilize durable dual ball fan bearings. Fan rotation has been optimized for reduced turbulence, and a stop mode brings all three fans to a halt at low temperatures.
In line with the TUF Gaming legacy, components are selected based on their durability and performance. In addition to top-shelf chokes and MOSFETs, capacitors with military-grade certification make TUF Gaming stand tall amongst the competition. A manufacturing process employing Auto-Extreme Technology ensures components are placed and attached with high precision, and each card is subjected to a grueling 144-hour validation trial to ensure flawless performance when it counts.
Most of the rear is swathed in a protective metal backplate that prominently features a wide vent to prevent heat buildup. Beneath the GPU, a bracket provides consistent mounting pressure between the die and heat spreader, and the card’s I/O bracket is forged from stainless steel to protect ports and provide a more secure mount. A conveniently placed Dual BIOS switch allows customization of the card’s default performance profile without software.
ASUS Dual: 2X Fans, 2X Fun
ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB delivers the ultimate combination of dynamic thermal performance and broad compatibility, making it the perfect choice for small-form-factor builds.
A sleek shroud surrounds two Axial-tech fans that are designed to maximize airflow through the large heatsink, and 0 dB technology automatically brings the fans to a halt at lower temperatures. The ASUS Dual graphics card is 20 cm long and fits into a 2-slot design, allowing its excellent thermal performance to be leveraged for more compact builds.
Auto-Extreme Technology enables components to be mounted and soldered to the PCB with greater precision and reliability, and these are protected by the structural rigidity and durability of an aluminum backplate and stainless steel I/O bracket. The ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB graphics card gives gamers with small-form-factor builds the exceptional thermal performance they need for extended AAA gaming sessions.
AVAILABILITY & PRICING
ROG Strix and TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB graphics cards will be available worldwide starting from late February 2021. ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB will be available in early March 2021. Please contact your local ASUS representative for more information.

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, February 25, 2021/ — WITH the number of Africa’s participants to increase in the upcoming Federation of International Football Association (FIFA), the period between now and 2025 will be a pivotal one for football in the continent.
This adds to the significance of what is set to be the most fiercely contested elections for the presidency of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The watershed elections are set for Rabat, Morocco on March 12.
In a podcast at the Council of Southern African Football Associations (COSAFA), visiting FIFA President, Gianni Infantino underlined the magnitude of the upcoming elections.
“It is clear that elections are always an important milestone for an organisation like CAF,” Infantino said.
“Let us not forget that in 2026, Africa will have nine or ten (dependent on play-off winners) participants at the World Cup. And in 2023, Africa will have four instead of three participants at the Women’s World Cup.”
He said this highlighted why the upcoming years would be essential for the ‘Beautiful Game’ in the continent.
“Before this (increase in participants), a lot of organisation needs to take place,” Infantino said.
“This means that the period from 2021 to 2025 will be a crucial one for African football, because you want to go to these events and play a protagonist’s role, not just go, play and come back after two or three games.”
Infantino, who has embarked on a tour of the continent, said to compete at the highest level, the organisation must be done in a certain way.
He appealed for unity.
“Reforms need to be implemented, everyone is aware of that, and the unity in the continent needs to be found, backing these projects that go from good governance to infrastructure development, to new competitions, and academy development for young players,” the FIFA president said.
CAF, with 54 member associations, is FIFA’s biggest confederation in terms of country members.
Presidential elections will be held to choose the successor to Madagascan, Ahmad Ahmad.
The candidates are Jacques Bernard Daniel Anouma (Ivory Coast), Patrice Motsepe (South Africa), Augustine Emmanuel Augustine Senghor (Senegal) and Ahmed Yahya of Mauritania.
The winning candidate will automatically become a FIFA Vice President.
Infantino attended the recent COSAFA AGM held in Johannesburg.
COSAFA Chairman, Philip Chiyangwa agreed with Infantino that African football was at a crucial stage.
“What is required is strong and decisive leadership. That is how we will grow the game and provide the future we all want to see for African football,” Chiyangwa said.
The FIFA President also highlighted both the country and the FMRF’s initiatives to get more girls and women involved in football
RABAT, Morocco, February 25, 2021/ — FIFA President Gianni Infantino has spoken of the need for football to strengthen its cooperation across the African continent and has shown his support for the promotion of women’s football locally, following discussions with the Moroccan Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nasser Bourita, and the President of the Moroccan Football Association (FMRF), Fouzi Lekjaa.
The FIFA President was speaking in the Moroccan capital, Rabat, following discussions that also looked at the country’s role in continental African football and the victory of the Atlas Lions, as winners of the CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN), earlier this month.
“It’s a pleasure to be here in this magnificent country where football is so strong,” the FIFA President said after the first series of meetings with FMRF officials. “I have already visited Morocco several times in the past and I noticed not only the passion for football but also the serious work of the federation, we are here to try find out how we can benefit even more from this work. The MoulayAbdellah Sports Complex in Rabat and the infrastructure in the whole country, this can benefit the country, the whole of Africa and beyond. This is why we are here, to see what else we can do through football infrastructures in Morocco to benefit men’s and women’s football, as well as youth football, and we will leave here with lots of ideas for programmes about the future.”
Subsequent discussions followed with members of the Moroccan government, where the FIFA President congratulated Minister Bourita on the success of the men’s national football team in their success in the CHAN tournament in Cameroon. The FIFA President also highlighted both the country and the FMRF’s initiatives to get more girls and women involved in football, and commended the recent launch of a four-year women’s football development plan, as a significant initiative to raise the value of women’s football by actively engaging girls at the grassroots level in football.
“My talks with Minister Bourita were both interesting and productive, and I mentioned that Morocco is recognised as a leader in integrating more girls and women in football,” the FIFA President said. “There are many positive moves, from appointment of female referee Bouchra Karboubi in the domestic league last October, to the introduction of the new women’s football development strategy by the FMRF last summer.
“There are great opportunities here, and I look forward to seeing Morocco stake their claim for a place at the FIFA Women’s World Cup. I informed the Minister that FIFA will help the federation in further developing and nurturing the women’s game throughout Morocco, so even more girls and women can become involved in football.”
