Intel will not provide protection to overclocking anymore

0

Intel had a unique plan that could be purchased separately with their overclockable processors to protect them even if they were somehow damaged due to overclocking. But, on March 1, 2021, Intel has announced the shut down of Performance Tuning Protection Plan service.

This supplementary warranty could be availed for just between $19.99 and $29.99, even though it was dubbed to be a 6-month pilot program but has gone on to stick around for 9 years. Obviously, the plan helped many gaming enthusiasts who overclocked their Intel CPUs for a nominal price but suddenly discontinued it is kind of unexpected from the Blue Team.

However, the plan had its own clauses, first, the overclocking failure has had to occur within Intel’s original warranty, also it should be a boxed CPU carrying a three-year warranty. Secondly, Intel would only issue one replacement for the damaged CPU, and you could not purchase another PTPP warranty for that replacement.

Intel, on the other hand, claims that the program was being discontinued because of lower demand for the plan “as customers increasingly overclock with confidence”. “Intel will continue focusing on delivering amazing processors with tuning flexibility and overclocking tools like Intel Performance Maximizer and Intel XTU,” the company said on its website.

Third time unlucky: SpaceX’s SN10 explodes after what seemed like a safe landing

0

Space Exploration Technologies Corp.’s latest Starship prototype, on Wednesday, landed for the first time after carrying out a high-altitude test flight in Texas, but in a sudden turn of events, exploded minutes later on its landing pad. The rocket, an early test version called SN10, aimed to nail a key milestone in Elon Musk’s campaign to build a fully reusable rocket system, demonstrated a few complex dances in mid-air before clinching a soft touch down before the explosion.

The prototype lifted off at 6:14 pm ET after aborting an initial launch attempt earlier in the day and soared 6 miles above SpaceX’s Boca Chica, Texas facilities. Unlike the last two tests with SN8 and SN9, which delivered successful launches but exploded on their landing attempts, SN10, not far from its launchpad, stuck a lopsided landing on a slab of concrete. The SN10 appeared to survive its daring landing maneuver for a few moments before being consumed in a fireball.

According to SpaceX’s engineer and live stream host John Insprucker, the launch test’s main objective was to demonstrate the computer-controlled movements of the rocket’s four aerodynamic flaps that steer its descent before landing.

According to a report by The Verge, “at the end of its climb to 6.2 miles, each of the rocket’s three Raptor engines gradually shut down to prepare for a brief free-fall back to land, reorienting itself horizontally with its “belly” facing the ground.” Then followed the “belly flop” maneuver. The three engines of the rocket reignited to swoop itself into a vertical position for landing.

SN10 slowly descended and softly touched down but leaning slightly to the side. Insprucker declared it a success on SpaceX’s live feed: “Third time’s a charm, as the saying goes. We’ve had a successful soft touchdown on the landing pad.”

“As a reminder, the key point of today’s test flight was to gather the data on controlling the vehicle while reentering, and we were successful in doing so,” he said.

The SpaceX live feed ended before SN10’s explosive demise, however, another feed, provided by the website NASA Spaceflight, continue to roll their cameras and captured the fireball, which saw the 16-story-tall rocket lofting back into the air before crashing back down on its side.

Musk tweeted at 7:35 PM ET in a celebratory mood about the SN10 landed “in one piece,” but jokingly noted two minutes after that the rocket had an “honorable discharge.”

Starship is the American aerospace manufacturer’s next-generation, fully reusable Mars rocket system designed to ferry crews of astronauts and 100 tons of cargo on future missions to Earth orbit, the moon, and eventually Mars. “The last three prototypes SpaceX has test-launched are early versions of the top half of the full Starship system, whose bottom half is a reusable super-heavy booster powered by an array of SpaceX’s new Raptor rocket engines.”

AMD continues its gaining streak on Steam’s Hardware & Software Survey

0

It looks AMD is non-stoppable in the Steam’s Hardware & Software Survey as it climbs Intel’s humongous market share each month. Last month, AMD had gained a 0.67% share taking the competition to 28.66% total share for AMD and 71.34% for Intel.

In January, on the other hand, AMD managed to gain a 2.99% share for Windows and 0.44% for Linux, whereas in February, it was 0.52% for Windows and 2.19% for Linux, a substantial increase in terms of Linux users.

AMD has enjoyed many new users in the 3.3 GHz to 3.69 GHz & 3.7 GHz and above CPU family for both Windows and Linux. This is mostly due to the high demand for both AMD Ryzen 3000 and 5000 series processors.

However, AMD’s main problem is with the stocks and the high demand it is facing from gamers worldwide. Although Ryzen 3000 series are still less affected, the Ryzen 5000 series are in extreme demand, and as new CPUs haven’t been announced yet from AMD and Intel on the budget side, people are buying old discounted CPUs.

Well, it will interesting to see how this chart rounds up next month onwards as Intel is scheduled to launch the new Rocket Lake-S desktop CPUs, which promise strong single-core performance that will help Intel get back its gaming crown.

Honestly, the competition is heating up, and both AMD & Intel is fighting to gain more users with their new CPUs. Also, AMD needs to bring more Ryzen 5000 series CPUs to counter Intel in the coming days.

Newcastle United takeover expected to happen next season even if they get relegated

Newcastle United takeover is expected to happen at the end of the season even if they get relegated to the Championship next season.

Newcastle United is now 17th in the table and just 3 points away from the relegation zone. There are several injury issues as well in the team. The attacking trio of Callum Wilson, Allan Saint-Maximin, and Miguel Almiron is currently out for injury and not coming back until after this month’s international break. It will be very tough for the Magpies to retain their position in the Premier League in this situation.

According to a report by the Independent, all parties in the consortium would still be interested in taking over Newcastle United even if the team is relegated to the Championship at the end of the season. Though Justin Barnes – the advisor of Newcastle owner Mike Ashley has put takeover conversations on hold and stated that the club is not for sale anytime soon.

However, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, the Reuben brothers, and Amanda Staveley are eager to buy Newcastle United, and not even a drop to the Championship will deter them.

There can be a chance of renegotiation as well. Ashley hopes that Bruce can make Newcastle stay in the Premier League so that the price touches £300 million.

In this circumstance, PIF is also looking elsewhere, with Saudi Arabia’s Prince Mohammad bin Salman interested in acquiring a minority stake in Inter Milan. Some Newcastle United fans are in fear that the Saudis’ interest in Inter could end their interest in the St. James’ Park outfit. They want the deal to go through as soon as possible.

How far can Vinicius Junior go after his 100th appearance and goal for Real Madrid?

0

Vinicius Junior managed to come off the bench to score an equaliser for Real Madrid in a highly competitive match against Real Sociedad which ended 1-1. The Brazilian made his 100th appearance for Real Madrid and marked the occasion by scoring a very important goal.

The player spoke to Madrid’s official website regarding the achievement, and here is what he had to say:

“It’s a big achievement to play 100 games in these colours. I’m delighted and this is a very special day for me. I’ve told my family that it’s been really exciting to make 100 appearances and to give everything for this shirt, which we love so dearly”.

“In the first half, we played really well, but we gave them a bit of space in the second half and they punished us for it. We’re disappointed we didn’t get the win we needed. We’d aimed to win all five games before the derby, but we got a draw in the last one. We have to continue on in this vein if we want to win things this season”.

It’s easy to look past the fact that Vinicius Junior is only 20 years old, and the fact that he has already made 100 appearances for the club feels strange to accept since we haven’t seen him as consistently as a player who has started 100 matches would be.

However, the youngster no doubt has some special talents that we are seeing in flashes right now. The main challenge for the Brazilian winger will be to ensure consistency in his future, and should he succeed in doing so, he will no doubt be an unstoppable force out on the flanks.

ASUS announces ROG Strix TUF Gaming and Dual AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT Series Graphics Cards

The ROG Strix Radeon RX 6700 XT brims with beastly style and performance

The ROG Strix Radeon™ RX 6700 XT graphics card boasts an extroverted style that wraps up all of our latest innovations for air-cooled graphics cards. We start with a massive triple-slot heatsink that uses a dense array of fins run through with seven heat pipes for high heat dissipation potential. Heatsink and GPU meet using a baseplate finished with our MaxContact process for increased surface area and better thermal transfer from the GPU.

ASUS announces ROG Strix TUF Gaming and Dual AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT Series Graphics Cards

Three fans using our latest Axial-tech design push plenty of air through the heatsink at low noise levels for a chilly and quiet GPU. We carefully considered the role of each fan in the overall cooling design, refining their barrier rings and blade counts for optimal air dispersion through every part of the heatsink.

A short custom PCB creates extra room for hot air to pass directly into the case’s airflow path through a cutout in the backplate, improving overall system temperatures. A pair of our exclusive FanConnect II headers allow gamers to tie case fan speeds directly to GPU temperatures for a rush of cooling airflow when the system needs it most. Finally, a zero-dB mode at idle and under light loads helps keep the system as quiet as possible.

Distinctive style comes standard on the ROG Strix Radeon™ RX 6700 XT graphics card. A black-and-gray primary color palette enhanced with metallic accents broadcasts your ROG allegiance to the world while integrating seamlessly with elaborate case lighting schemes.

The ROG Strix card also features a bold full-length addressable RGB LED strip on its left edge that’s compatible with Aura Sync for a striking light show that’s easy to coordinate with compatible peripherals. As a finishing touch, the full-length metal backplate doesn’t just look good, in tandem with a large stiffening frame, it minimizes PCB flex when the graphics card is installed in your system.

The TUF Gaming Radeon RX 6700 XT impresses with quiet competence

The TUF Gaming Radeon™ RX 6700 XT graphics card exudes quiet competence with a new industrial design. Its triple-slot heatsink comes sandwiched between a monochrome, brushed-aluminum shroud and a full-coverage backplate, both of which are imprinted with subtle TUF Gaming graphics to clue close observers in to your preference for purposeful performance.

ASUS announces ROG Strix TUF Gaming and Dual AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT Series Graphics Cards

An Aura RGB-backlit TUF Gaming logo lets users put a finishing touch of color on the system, or it can be switched off entirely for a stealthy rig. The TUF Gaming Radeon™ RX 6700 XT’s style may be stealthy, but its clock speeds, operating temperatures, and low noise levels make a big impression.

Three counter-rotating fans built with our latest Axial-tech design move more air through the massive 2.9-slot heatsink at a given RPM for better performance without increasing noise output. Differing blade counts between the central and outer fans optimize airflow for each zone of the heatsink to keep every component’s temperature where it needs to be.

A large cut-out in the backplate ahead of the short custom PCB allows more hot air to enter the case’s natural airflow path for even better cooling performance. Finally, with a zero-dB fan mode at idle, the TUF Gaming Radeon RX 6700 XT is as easy on the ears as it is on the eyes.

This card is built to take whatever you can throw at it during lengthy gaming sessions. Auto-Extreme assembly technology, used across our lineup, precisely places and solders components without human intervention to boost reliability and build quality. A 144-hour testing regime and extra-sturdy capacitors ensure out-of-the-box reliability and a long service life, and a strong reinforcement frame minimizes PCB flex when the card is installed in your system.

The ASUS Dual Radeon RX 6700 XT puts big performance in a simple package

Delivering the latest AMD RNDA™ 2 architecture experience in its purest form, the ASUS Radeon™ RX 6700 XT melds performance and simplicity like no other. Leveraging advanced cooling technologies derived from flagship graphics cards, the Dual opts for substance over style, the perfect choice for a well-balanced build.

Their focused airflow moves through a 2.7-slot heatsink enveloped by a clean black-and-white shroud with a subtle LED accent for a classy, eye-catching style. The fans can stop at idle to keep your system’s noise signature as unobtrusive as possible during light loads.

A full-coverage aluminum backplate embossed with subtle graphics and a polished stainless steel mounting bracket keep this card looking good from any angle, while our Auto-Extreme assembly process and 144-hour validation cycle ensure it will reliably keep the pixels flowing.
