Flaws in Microsoft’s Email Software raise alarms at the White House, DHS

The highest levels of the U.S. government are concerned and alarmed due to the newly discovered flaws in Microsoft Corp.’s software for email, which sees the government urging users to apply patches immediately.

Significant numbers of small businesses and local governments are among the 30,000 affected organizations across the U.S. They have been hacked via holes in Microsoft’s email software in the last few days allegedly by Chinese attackers who are focused on stealing email from victims, the blog KrebsonSecurity reported Friday.

“This is a significant vulnerability that could have far-reaching impacts,” said Jen Psaki, the White House press secretary, speaking at a briefing, according to Bloomberg. “We are concerned there are a large number of victims.” She characterized the incident as an “active threat.”

Psaki’s remark comes after Microsoft’s revelation on Tuesday that China-based nation-state hackers were exploiting flaws in on-premise versions of the software, which were previously unknown, and released patches for them. The following day, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), which is part of the Department of Homeland Security, issued an emergency directive in response to “observed active exploitation of these products.” As a result of this, civilian agencies and departments were directed to apply the patches or look for compromises and disconnect Microsoft Exchange from their networks.

Over the course of this week, Government concern over the flaws continued to build, with CISA releasing an alert on Thursday, stating that it was aware of hackers using tools to search for servers that hadn’t yet been patched. That evening, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan wrote on Twitter that the U.S. is “closely tracking Microsoft’s emergency patch.” He cited “reports of potential compromises of U.S. think tanks and defense industrial base entities.”

No specified target or timing of the hacking remains known. Defense Department spokesman John Kirby said the Pentagon (a metonym for the Department of Defense and its leadership) assesses its systems based on Microsoft’s advisory. The cybersecurity firm FireEye Inc. found that victims included “U.S.-based retailers, local governments, a university, and an engineering firm.” According to Allan Liska, an analyst at the firm Recorded Future Inc, the version of exchange targeted by hackers has been found out to be typically run by small businesses, putting them at special risk.

A Microsoft representative said the company isn’t aware of attacks before vulnerabilities were disclosed to the company in early January.

Volexity, a cybersecurity firm, reported finding attacks leveraging the flaws that date back to as early as 6th January. However, CISA urged operators to look for compromises dating back to September, “out of an abundance of caution,” according to a spokesperson.

After The Anthem Cancellation BioWare Willing to Stick to Its Guns

0

In the recent past when a game was released and it doesn’t become hit, there was nothing to do much about it. At that time, developers had to learn from their experiences, lick their wounds, and move on to a new project. In the digital age, the scenario is not like that. BioWare has spent so much time trying to find out a way to rebuild the Anthem from the bottom up.

Fans are very excited to see the next installments in these franchises, and BioWare looks to be determined to meet the expectations. Christian Dailey, the executive producer of BioWare Austin has stated that Anthem NEXT has been abandoned, he gave some hints at a renewed focus on Mass Effect and Dragon Age.

BioWare has proven multiple times that it can deliver on the Dragon Age franchise. There is no Dragon Age game since 2014, but fans know very well that BioWare is coming back to Dragon Age, ever since Dragon Age 4 was announced in 2018. It seems that those resources which were initially dedicated to Anthem NEXT now will move to work on the Dragon Age.

Anthem wasn’t able to reach that mark, now it looks like, BioWare learned a lot from the experience of Anthem’s rough road. There is a lot of things that BioWare can take a lesson from Anthem about experimenting with some new formulas and how a confusing development can impact a game so hard. There is so high expectation for Dragon Age 4 since it’s the first return to this franchise in so many years.

Intel’s Rocket Lake CPUs were hiding a feature similar to AMD’s Infinity Fabric Clock

Intel will official unveil its Rocket Lake-S CPUs on 16th March, whereas the official performance review of the SKUs will be unveiled on 30th March. And we already know that some of the retailers are already selling the Rocket Lake processors even though Intel will not make the processors available before March 30.

Though, the availability of the processors from the retailers has allowed us to get many unofficial reviews and benchmarks of the models. But, in recent posts on the Chinese Chiphell forums, Intel’s Rocket Lake CPUs now support a memory overclocking feature that is very similar to AMD’s Infinity Fabric Clock (FCLK) on the Ryzen 3000 and Ryzen 5000 CPUs.

In the previous leaked benchmarking details, this particular feature was missing, but Chiphell does justice to the feature. According to the post by Chiphell, the Rocket Lake processor which appeared is an Intel Core i7-11700K running on an MSI MEG Z490I Unify motherboard. The motherboard BIOS lets users select two “gears” for the CPU IMC (integrated memory controller).

According to sources, Gear 1 is 1:1 (synchronous mode), while Gear 2 is ½:1 (asynchronous mode). It seems that the second option is the same as the Infinity Fabric Clock (FCLK) on the Ryzen platforms that can be modified to work independently from the unified memory controller clock (UCLK) and the memory clock (MEMCLK).

Currently, the Ryzen 3000 CPUs can run the FCLK in synchronous mode (1:1 ratio) up to 1,800 MHz ( DDR4-3600), with very few “gold” samples hitting FLCK 1,900 MHz (DDR4-3800). While the Ryzen 5000 offers a little over 2,000 MHz (DDR4-4000).

In the post, Chiphell states that the 1:1 option for the Rocket Lake CPUs appears to be capped at around 1,866 MHz (DDR4-3733). It makes the CPU go toe-to-toe with the Ryzen 3000 CPUs.

To show the memory latency of the Rocket Lake CPU, the Chiphell user first tested a DDR4-4000 kit with 18-20-20-40 1T timings. The 1:1 threshold led to 61.3 nanosecond latencies in AIDA64 and with a DDR4-3600 14-14-14-34 2T kit with uncore clocks set to 4,100 MHz and got 50.2 ns latency.

MSI is going to unveil new Z590 mobo models, so it would be interesting to see how this would affect the performance of intel’s CPUs.

A few days back pTron launched two new TWS earbuds in India: pTron Bassbuds Pro and pTron Bassbuds Vista. Speaking of the company pTron we have already seen that it is focusing on delivering the best audio devices within a budget price range. Both these TWS earbuds are one of the best in the market right now. These earbuds are one of the lightest earbuds available in the market. Each earbud in this case weighs approximately 4grams which feels lighter than ever and fits easily in the ears. Design and Built

The design of the pTron Bassbuds Vista is similar to the OnePlus Buds Z but here you can see the extended earpiece part is a bit triangular in shape, we mean the lower part that remains outside the ear. The TWS earbuds have an in-ear design with an angular silicon ear-tip that fits perfectly in the ears. There is no touch control on these earbuds, whereas, we get button controls on the sides.

The charging case of the pTron Bassbuds Vista has the branding at the front and below the branding, we can see four LED indicators that indicate the various. The case has a very smooth matte finish on it. There is a micro-USB port at the back of the case.

Just like the pTron Bassbuds Pro this one also is lightweight, such as each earbud weighs approximately 4 grams and along with the whole box, it is quite compact and lightweight.

How to Pair?

Steps to pair the pTron Bassbuds Pro with any iOS and Android devices.

  • Open the lid of the case and take out the earbuds.
  • Then turn on the Bluetooth of your smartphone/ iPad/ laptop.
  • Search for any wireless device.
  • Then the newly found device section you can see the name pTron Bassbuds Vista.
  • Click on the name and then it will ask to pair with the TWS earbuds.
  • Accept the prompt and pair with it.

Comfort and Usage

Each earbud of ptron Bassbuds Vista weighs approximately 4 grams which is very lightweight and after fitting in ears it will feel like nothing is in the ears. From the design, it seems to have a physical noise cancellation design that will not allow any surrounding sound while plugged in the ears to enter ears but it doesn’t work so well even at full volume. Otherwise, it fits comfortably in the ears and feels great, moreover, it does not falls from the ears once fitted properly.

All conditions proof IPX4 sweat and water-resistant earbuds can be word while workout, while the silicon tip are adjustable with two other spare eartips of different sizes. Along with this the button controls make it more user friendly and accessible with any one hand.

I would like to focus on the microphone of this earbud which is quite impressive but one thing I noticed after outdoor usage that it faces a problem to receive the voice properly in a crowded place with a mask on. In such a situation, you need to talk loudly so that the microphone can receive your sound properly.

Wireless Charging: How to use it?

The pTron Bassbuds Vista provides a 4Hrs Playback with Earbuds, +8Hrs with charging case which gives a pretty decent 12 Hrs Combined Playtime for such compact TWS earbuds. It takes around 1.5 hours to fully charge the case with a micro-USB charging port (wired) and a 5W Qi Wireless Charger.

Now we are talking about the 5W Qi Wireless Charger which is a round-shaped charging pad with micro-USB input and one LED indicator at the front. The charging pad is lightweight and comes included in the box along with the detachable USB cable.

You have to place the pTron Bassbuds Vista case face-up on the charging and you can see the indicator in the pad changes from red to blue which indicates that it is actively charging the earbuds. When the charging starts you can also see the LED blinking in the case as well.

Audio Quality

The audio quality of the pTron Bassbuds Vista is quite good, especially since the highs (audio) are up to the mark. When the volume is 100% the sound has a soothing effect but might not be needed every time. The 10mm Dynamic Speakers with High Bass exquisite sound details with proper Bass. The bass is very prominent and overall the quality is up to the mark for this price range. There seems to have no issue while playing games with these headphones.

The headphone can be accessible within a range of 10m and the connection breaks down a little bit if you travel in the whole house, keeping the phone in a room.

Pros and Cons

Our Thought

After using it for a week I am totally impressed with the audio quality. The whole case of the TWS is very small and can be easily carried anywhere, needless to mention the weight as each earbuds are weighed 4grams approximately. There is no fear of falling from the ears but would recommend you all to handle it properly as it has a high tendency of falling while handling as it is so lightweight.

As this is a review unit, in which case the product I received might be a bit faulty because the Bluetooth connection on it is not that stable. The sound starts breaking once in a while without any reason or keeping it a bit far than 1 meter. But otherwise, it is all good, the texture of the matte finish on it feels amazing.

Considering the price of Rs.1,299 you can definitely go for the pTron Bassbuds Vista TWS earbuds. I am strongly recommending this gadget as it is one of the best within this price range and might also be the only one.

ISL Semi-Final: Both the matches end in a draw!

Both of the ISL Semi-final ended in a draw in the first leg. It all depends upon the second leg score, which will decide the two finalists of this year.

Yesterday, FC Goa drew against Mumbai City FC as they squandered a lead twice in their 2-2 draw against Mumbai City FC on Friday. FC Goa took the lead through Igor Angulo’s penalty (20′). Mumbai City equalized at 38th minute by Hugo Boumous’ goal. The Gaurs again scored at 58th minute as Saviour Gama scored for them. But Mumbai City FC responded very quickly and scored in the 62nd minute. Mourtada Fall scored the second goal for Mumbai City FC.

It was a thrilling contest throughout the 90 minutes. The second leg of this fixture is on Monday. It is very tough to call who will go through.

However, the second semi-final also ended in a 1-1 draw as North-East United scored an injury-time equalizer against the defending champion ATK Mohun Bagan FC. ATK Mohun Bagan FC took the lead at the 34th-minute mark as David Williams scored for the Mariners. But the High-landers refused to give up and kept fighting for the equalizer.

At the 94th minute of the game, North-East United scored the equalizer as Idrissa Sylla scored from a header and ensured his side does not go into the second leg on the back foot.

NorthEast United FC coach interim head coach Khalid Jamil is very happy to see the attitude and hunger. After the match, he said, “After conceding in in the first half we were thinking in the dressing room that we must make an early change. However, I waited for a while. Sylla was also not fully fit and I thought I would give him 30 minutes. He and Britto did a good job.”

North-East will take on ATK Mohun Bagan FC on Tuesday in the second leg of this tie.

AMD RDNA Crypto Mining Graphics Cards is under development, may include Navi 10 and Navi 12 GPUs

0

Soon, AMD could follow NVIDIA in offering its own line of crypto mining-specific graphics cards, which are based on the RDNA GPU architecture. It is said that the new graphics cards will feature the first-gen RDNA architecture, and those cards will be primarily designed to manage blockchain crypto-mining algorithms.

This is not the first time an AMD graphics card has come out, which seems to target crypto miners. In October, Videocardz reported that an AMD Navi 10 GPU was spotted in Linux Kernel patches. This graphics card doesn’t feature two important technologies, preventing it from being a gaming card, DCN (Display Core Next) and VCN (Video Core Next).

Another new AMD RDNA 1 GPU-based graphics card is now in the rumors, and it is said to be based on the Navi 12 SKU. It is mentioned within the Linux patch from 3rd March that this particular SKU lacks VCN capabilities. Michael Larabel, the editor of Phoronix, informs that AMD is going to declare soon about Bitcoin Crypto Mining GPUs based on first-generation RDNA graphics chips.

Michael Larabel said-

“Handle new NV12 SKU” – This change is in reference to Navi 12 coming to market and doesn’t support Video Core Next (VCN) video support as it’s going to be a headless SKU. Details on this headless Navi 12 SKU remain light and haven’t heard anything about it recently from AMD. This may be similar to the previously reported on Navi 10 “Blockchain” graphics card. That “blockchain” SKU added to the Linux driver at the end of last year also disabled the DCN and VCN driver paths since it’s obviously headless. Given NVIDIA just announced their CMP mining cards perhaps AMD will soon be announcing these Navi 1x Bitcoin mining SKUs…

If AMD makes its own lineup of crypto-mining graphics cards, then it is expected that they will limit the hash rate on existing or upcoming gaming graphics cards to handle the mining market. But for now, we have to wait for further information on these cards.

A look back at Real Madrid’s history on their 119th anniversary

0

Irrespective of whether one is a fan of Real Madrid or not, they must concede to the fact that Los Merengues are the most decorated and prestigious club in the history of football and in the modern world as it stands.

Madrid completed 119 years as a football club on the 6th of March.

The Spanish giants have managed to win the coveted Champions League trophy a record 13 times in their history. The only other team who has come close to ten is AC Milan with 7. The next best is Bayern and Liverpool with 6 and Barcelona with 5. When you combine all the European trophies they have won in their career, the magic number is 23.

Real Madrid have won 23 European trophies throughout their 1.2 century long existence, which is more than any club in the world and most clubs have not even come close to the number of domestic trophies that they have European ones.

Los Merengues have managed to win the La Liga title a record 34 times, and they have also won the FIFA Club World Cup the most number of times as well, with four to their name and the 2017, 18 and 19 titles coming in succession.

While it is a rather unknown fact, Real Madrid HAVE won the Europa League. And what’s more, that has been on two occasions, in 1984/85 and the following season in 1985/86. They have hence managed to win every major trophy available to them.

Some of the greatest names to have played for the club include Cristiano Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane, Raul, David Beckham, Ronaldo Nazario, Sergio Ramos, Roberto Carlos and Iker Casillas to only get started. The list will go on, and so will the prestigious history of the club.

Manchester United borrow £60 million as loan

0

Manchester United have released their financial results for the second quarter of the season. These results capture the financial status of the club from December to March. The club are projected to have lost over £100 million during this time, which has caused them to borrow £60 million to safeguard their finances during the still ongoing pandemic.

The club’s matchday revenue had fallen from over £50 million to a little over £3 million, which projects a depletion of over 90% of their revenue being lost with every passing matchday.

As reported by the Daily Mail, “The club’s net debt has risen by 16.4 per cent to £455.5m too.

“United’s revenue was down 7.2 per cent year-on-year to £281.8m with profit dropping by 6.9 per cent to £33.8m.

“A return to the Champions League, albeit only for the group stage, saw broadcasting revenue up to £156.3m, an increase of 60.1 per cent.

“Commercial revenue was down 19.1 per cent to £122.3m.”

Manchester United will be hoping to have fans back in the stands for their second last match of the season against Fulham on May 15. Moreover, Chairman Ed Woodward hopes that fans will come back to the Old Trafford in it’s full capacity next season.

This will not only restore the glory of live football, but also allow clubs to operate at optimal financial situations without having to lose their main source of revenue.
