Aya Neo handheld console now up for sale

Aya Neo is now available for purchase on Indiegogo starting at HKD 6,120 (~ USD 789) for the 500GB model. The handheld gaming device, which looks like a Nintendo Switch in style, promises to offer a full-fledged PC gaming experience in the palm of your hands.

Earlier, the company launched its Aya Neo consoles Founder’s Edition back in January, which has completely sold-out. So technically, the newly launched Aya Neo is a second edition. The new, broader release promises several improvements over the initial version, including:

  • An improved operating system
  • Reduced weight
  • The option to toggle rumble
  • Better buttons
  • Better power consumption and performance presets

The earlier version caused resolution scaling problems or blurry screens. The company states that the scaling problem has been handled in the new version. The manufacturer offers a new optional $47 dock that offers:

  • Two USB 3.2 Gen 1 type-A ports
  • One HDMI port
  • One SD card slot
  • One MicroSD card slot
  • One ethernet jack

Coming to the remaining specs we get the same specs as the Founder’s Edition:

  • 7-inch 1280×800 IPS display
  • A 10-25W AMD Ryzen 4500U CPU
  • 16GB of LPDDR4x RAM
  • Three USB-C ports
  • Up to 6 hours of estimated battery life.

Aya is a first-time company and has managed to sell its products founder’s edition astoundingly. The company is certainly new in the business, but looking at its results until now, the company looks promising. Though the specs are not too high-level, it is still better considering that the console is a crowd-funded product.

We can get the Aya Neo on Indiegogo for $6,120 HKD (roughly $789 USD) for the 500GB model or $6,750 HKD (approximately $869 USD) for the 1TB model.

UEFA Champions League set to be reformed using the Swiss system

0

Many clubs wanted to form a breakaway European Super League and refrain from playing the UEFA Champions League. But now it seems the European Super League is gone for now and the UEFA Champions League is set to be reformed.

Andrea Agnelli, the chairman of Juventus and the European Clubs Association, has said the change is imminent to the UEFA Champions League.

The new revamp of the Champions League would see a 36-team league table replace the current Champions League group stage. Each team would play 10 matches before progressing to the knockout rounds. This will be done according to the Swiss system.

Agnelli said: “I think we’re very close to my ideal Champions League, I think the ‘Swiss system’ is beautiful.”

“I think it will provide great opportunities for those teams participating in that competition. It will provide the knockouts that are the essence of any competition. It’s very, very close to an ideal Champions League. We’re maybe just a couple of weeks away.”

If the changes for the Champions League are approved by all then it will be implemented in 2024. But there’s another thing which would need to be taken care of. All the European leagues will have to decide to reduce the number of teams playing top-flight domestic football.

Agnelli would like to see one-third of the games played in European competitions. He said: “We do think that currently for competitive balance purposes 20 teams in leagues are too many.”

“There is an overall element that could actually be worked out altogether in the interests of everyone.”

The European Clubs Association chairman also suggested that there can be a ban on transfers between Champions League clubs.

He added on that matter: “No triple-figures transfers between Champions League participating clubs maybe would [mean] focusing instead on champion players in smaller countries allowing us only to buy players there.”

“These are elements we are discussing but certainly cost control will be one of the biggest challenges in terms of reforms going forward.”

So as things stand, the changes to the Champions League is imminent and in all probability it will be implemented in 2024. Hope the changes turn out to be good and makes the tournament more exciting and interesting.

UEFA has been suspended Sebastian Coltescu, who officiated the PSG vs Istanbul Basaksehir Champions League match last season

0

The match between Paris Saint-Germain and Istanbul Basaksehir was originally scheduled for 8th December, but an unfortunate incident in the 13th minute caused the match to be suspended.

The fourth official, Sebastian Coltescu, was charged with uttering a racist slur during the heated row near the benches. Apparently, Coltescu’s words, when translated in English, equate to: “The black one over there. This is not possible. Go and identify him. That guy, the black one.”

The match was about to be restarted on that very night, but there was no extra official who could officiate in place of Coltescu, so it was postponed to 9th December.

After a four-month investigation, UEFA, the governing body of European football, has now suspended Coltescu until the end of this season.

Uefa have confirmed that he was found guilty of “inappropriate behaviour” during Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League clash with Istanbul Başakşehir last year. However, they have found him not guilty of racism.

A statement read:

“Following an investigation conducted by a UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector regarding the events that led to the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League match between Paris Saint-Germain and İstanbul Başakşehir FK on 8 December 2020 being abandoned, and the subsequent proceedings opened against the match officials Mr. Sebastian Constantin Coltescu and Mr. Octavian Sovre, the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) has taken the following decision:

– To suspend Mr. Sebastian Constantin Coltescu from carrying out any referee’s function until the end of the 2020/21 season, i.e. until 30 June 2021, for the violation of Article 11(1) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations (DR) and Article 6(1) of the General Terms and Conditions for Referees officiating at UEFA Matches (GTC), i.e. for inappropriate behaviour during a UEFA match for which he was appointed.

– To order Mr. Sebastian Constantin Coltescu to attend an educational programme before 30 June 2021 under the conditions determined by the UEFA refereeing services.

– To reprimand Mr. Octavian Sovre for the violation of Article 11(1) DR and Article 6(1) of the General Terms and Conditions for Referees officiating at UEFA Matches, i.e. for inappropriate behaviour during a UEFA match for which he was appointed.

– To order Mr. Octavian Sovre to attend an educational programme as soon as possible but before 30 June 2021 under the conditions determined by the UEFA refereeing services.

With this decision, the CEDB has therefore considered that both match officials violated Articles 11(1) DR and 6(1) GTC (obligation to behave in an appropriate manner), but not Article 14 DR (racism and other discriminatory conduct).

The CEDB also agreed with the EDI that UEFA officials should be adequately and specifically trained to make better decisions on the choice of language and words to be used in UEFA competitions. In the international context, correct use of language is essential to avoid situations such as those that occurred in the above-mentioned match.

The motivated decisions will be published in due course.

In relation to the same match and the red card of İstanbul Başakşehir FK assistant coach, Mr. Pierre Achille Webo, which occurred before the incidents which sparked the above sanctions and was therefore not provoked by them, the CEDB has taken the following decision:

– To suspend İstanbul Başakşehir FK assistant coach, Mr. Pierre Achille Webo, for one (1) UEFA competition match in which he would otherwise participate, for unsporting conduct.”

OPPO finally becomes the number one smartphone brand in China

OPPO is one of the smartphone brands that has made a name solely depending on the innovation brought forth by its R&D department. The company produces excellent smartphones, which are mostly known for their extra-ordinary performing cameras.

According to recent news, OPPO has, for the first time, become the best-selling smartphone brand in China. The bank managed to capture 21 percent of the world’s biggest smartphone market (China) in January, ahead of Vivo and Huawei, which both achieved 20 percent.

Reports also indicate that the company’s sales went up 26 percent year on year and increased 33 percent from the previous month. The credit for its monthly sales increase is due to the success of its new Reno 5 series, which offers better specs at a lower price point than the earlier Reno 4.

We also found that, with OPPO gaining market share, it seems that Huawei has started losing its smartphone value in China as we know that the company which suffered the most due to the US-China trade war was none other than Huawei. As such, due to component shortage, the company is focusing on the premium market. As such, Chinese distributors have been focusing on other brands for volume.

Previously, Huawei’s smartphone market was supported majorly by its Honor brand. But after selling the company, Honor has become one of the biggest competitors of Huawei. It is estimated that Huawei’s shares will continue to go down throughout 2021. Oppo will look to capitalize on the opportunity to launch its latest flagship phone, the Find X3 Pro, which will be announced on Thursday.

IPL Franchisees will lose 25 to 35 Cr each as no spectators allowed

IPL chairman Brijesh Patel yesterday announced that there would not be any spectators for the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). After the announcement, the franchisees fear losing Rs 25 to 35 crore each.

The teams were forced to play without fans last year also. This year, ticket sales as a revenue source for each franchise are all set to be completely wiped out of their PNL.

IPL Chairman Brijesh Patel announced, “Yes, I can confirm that there will be no spectators allowed for this season. Not for a single match. We will have a Governing Council meeting in the next two days to ratify these decisions. The decision to take Mumbai as a venue was difficult. But we believe things will improve. But we are keeping our options open (to opt for a replacement venue in case the situation goes out of hand.”

After this announcement, CSK CEO Kashi Viswanathan told Inside Sports, “Yes, after last year’s loss, we are a bit worried about this year’s revenue loss as well. I would say the loss could be around Rs 25 crore. But more than that, we are going to lose our fans. That’s our biggest concern.”

However, there is one more matter which can impact franchises. As the fans are not allowed, it will impact the sponsorship tie-ups franchises weaving for IPL 2021.

Punjab Kings CEO Satish Menon said, “We are still discussing IPL and BCCI to find a solution. We hope and pray things to get normal, and some spectators are allowed in the later stage. We had spectators in the Test matches as well. So let’s see, things might change. So putting a figure at this stage will be premature.”

However, teams will play all the matches in a neutral venue. BCCI released a statement regarding this and said, “One of the major changes of this edition of the VIVO IPL will be the fact that all matches will be played at neutral venues, no team will play at their home venue. All teams will play at 4 out of 6 venues during the league stage.”

Apple’s alleged M2 chip appears in a leak

Apple’s M1 Chip is one of the most highly rated silicon of recent times. We have been time and again impressed by the performance of the company’s silicon. There have been many discussions online regarding the successor of the silicon.

And in recent news, an alleged “leak” from a spurious source claimed to give some early benchmark data for the M1X. First things first, the Cupertino-based giant has not yet confirmed an “M1X” name, with observers plumping for the name based on the firm’s usage of “X” as a suffix to some A-series chips.

The leak claims that the new silicon from Apple, the Apple M2 processor, will appear around late 2022 and will be configured with 16 cores made up of 12 performance cores and four efficiency cores. If the leaks are to be believed, then the new silicon will be four times faster than M1.

The recent chip we have seen is the 8-core M1 silicon, and the leak suggests that by the end of 2022, there will be a 16-core M2. It’s a reasonable estimation, but that is only what it is for now.

But there also some speculations going around stating that the superfast 16-core Apple chip could end up being the M2X, considering the timeline. According to sources, since Apple’s M1 was released in November 2020, thus an M1X could turn up in a MacBook Pro by the end of the second quarter this year.

Apple’s silicon has already crushed Intel and AMD’s most high-end offerings and shapes into a worthy rival for the two.
