Intel’s upcoming Quad-core 10th Gen Core i3 on par 8 threaded 7th Gen Core i7

0

Intel has been working hard on its upcoming desktop CPUs based on 10nm process, though they have been successful in implementing the new Icelake architecture in laptops, it seems that the desktop and server end CPUs have given Intel some huge trouble.

So, again Intel will be repeating its tik-tok method on its age-old 14nm Skylake architecture and implement the 10th Gen Comet Lake CPUs to counter AMD’s superior 7nm based Ryzen 3000 CPUs. Intel has no other option but repeating its same architecture for the fifth consecutive generation.

Slated for a launch in the first half of 2020, we expect Intel to launch the new CPUs at very cheap rates, with higher clock speeds and hyper-threading enabled across all of its new CPUs. Obviously it will not be efficient and modern as its Ice Lake CPUs are but the new Comet Lake will surely be much more affordable with relatively higher performance.

Intel's upcoming Quad-core 10th Gen Core i3 on par 8 threaded 7th Gen Core i7

To counter the dipping market of Intel, the blue team has no other option except to sell their CPUs at cheaper prices to attract more consumers as they can. It is surprising to see Intel lower the prices of their HEDT processors by 50% and sell their best budget CPUs like Core i3-9100F and Core i5-9400F at ultra-low prices.

The shortage of manufacturing the 10nm nodes has forced Intel to make the Comet Lake CPUs both for laptops and desktop lineups. Intel has no other option but follows its same old strategy: take the Skylake core, higher the TDP and see how much higher clock speeds can be achieved and then eventually stuff as many cores as the 14nm node allows.

We’ve got some leaks about the upcoming CPUs by Intel which has a lot of similarity to its 9th Gen brothers, albeit the fact that all of them will feature hyper-threading and come with higher clocks. Ryzen CPUs and APUs have been game-changing for AMD, the Red team has made huge progress, leaving behind Intel in the long run, so a new generation of CPUs by Intel was just a matter of time.

Intel's upcoming Quad-core 10th Gen Core i3 on par 8 threaded 7th Gen Core i7

The 10th Gen Intel Core i3-10100 will be a quad-core CPU with multi-threading enabled. It has a base clock speed of 3.6GHa and a boost clock speed somewhat higher than the Core i3-9100F at around 4.3 to 4.4GHz. Higher clock speeds at single-core enhance the gaming performance significantly, a segment where Intel still dominates the market.

This budget CPU features 6MB L3 Cache and the performance is impressive as well. It performances close to the 4 core 8 threaded 7th Gen Core i7 which is great for a low-budget CPU to attain and eventually be a great gaming CPU in future.

Intel's upcoming Quad-core 10th Gen Core i3 on par 8 threaded 7th Gen Core i7

The new Intel Core i5-10600K is a 6 core CPU that will hyper-threading and higher frequency uplift along with an increased L3 cache size of 12MB. This will be an overclockable budget CPU that will eventually be a value-for-money one, also the performance seems decent enough.

Now what will make these CPUs interesting enough to a Ryzen-minded market is the pricing, until and unless it can lure its consumers somehow, they have a lot of Ryzen options. Maybe Intel cannot cope with AMD in the performance race until their 10nm Sunny cove cores arrive but till then they need to offer something compelling to its fans.

NVIDIA to launch the new GTX 1650 Super on 22nd November

0

All you need to know about the upcoming NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super & GTX 1650 Super

According to Videocardz, NVIDIA has revealed that both the GTX 1660 Super and a new GTX 1650 Super will land in the market in the coming days. We had an idea previously of the GTX 1660 Super which was much needed as AMD is gearing for something big in the budget segment.

Announcing the Radeon RX 5500 made NVIDIA more insecure and it seems they are ready to refresh the budget-oriented GTX 1650 GPU. The GTX 1660S is all set to launch on next Tuesday i.e. October 29th, while the GTX 1650 SUPER has been scheduled for a November 22nd launch (the official date provided under the embargo). The pricing details for the 1650 Super has not yet been disclosed.

We can expect the GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER will receive a much needed faster GDDR6 memory treatment. This GPU will feature modules rated at 12 Gbps (same as the GTX 1660 Ti), while the GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER will sport a faster 14 Gbps memory speed.

NVIDIA to launch the new GTX 1650 Super on 22nd November

Let’s talk about the detailed specs of these GPUs as reported by Videocardz:

GTX 1660 Super: A healthy GDDR6 14Gbps memory upgrade with just the cost of 5W TDP

The GTX 1660 SUPER will feature a 12nm Turing TU116 graphics processor with 1408 CUDA cores, 88 TMUs, and 48 ROPs, same as the original GTX 1660. The main upgrade is the inclusion of 6GB GDDR6 memory across a 192-bit memory bus.

This, on the other hand, corresponds to a higher 336 GB/s of maximum theoretical bandwidth. That’s even more than the high priced GTX 1660 Ti, thanks to the faster 14 Gbps memory die.

NVIDIA to launch the new GTX 1650 Super on 22nd November

The card obviously will not be available as a reference design, and the new GTX 1660S GPU can only be purchased from NVIDIA board partners. This is why NVIDIA is not providing the specs for the display and power connectors in their official specs sheet, although it has been mentioned that the GPU will require at least one 8-pin power connector.

If the GPU is priced at the similar price of GTX 1660, this could be a steal deal for gamers and it will not be surprising to see the GTX 1660 Super to match or rather outperform the GTX 1660 Ti. This type of strategy was applied when RTX Super cards were launched previously this year.

NVIDIA to launch the new GTX 1650 Super on 22nd November

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER: A much needed GDDR6 memory upgrade

The GTX 1650 SUPER will be equipped with 1280 CUDA cores, same as the GTX 1060 series. This model will be based on the 12nm Turing TU116 graphics processor.

This will be NVIDIA’s cheapest SUPER model equipped with a faster 4GB of GDDR6 memory onboard. The card will be similar to the GTX 1650’s 128-bit memory bus and 32 ROP count.

On the other hand, the higher specs will come at the cost of 25W higher TDP, as the GTX1650 Super will now require 100W of TDP. This model will also be clocked 50-60 MHz higher than the non-Super variant.

NVIDIA to launch the new GTX 1650 Super on 22nd November

The faster GDDR6 memory technology gives the GTX 1650 SUPER a huge boost and puts it right next to GTX 1660 non-SUPER variant if a maximum of 192GB/s bandwidth is to be considered.

Since the GTX 1650 Super is also based on the TU116 graphics processor, both of the GPUs will be supporting the Turing NVENC encoder. This is a new feature added by NVIDIA as the GTX 1650 non-SUPER was utilizing VOLTA NVENC encoder.

The new Super GPUs Launch date

NVIDIA will be launching the GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER on October 29th at the price of $229 similar to the original GTX 1660. The GTX 1650 SUPER will be available from the next month, on November 22nd but NVIDIA has not yet provided any pricing info on this budget-oriented but we expect it to be costing similar to $150-$175 price bracket like its predecessor GTX 1650.

Xiaomi continues its No. 1 market position in India for Q3 2019

0

Xiaomi again leads the smartphone market maintaining the No.1 position in India for Q3 2019, Realme acquires 16% market share

According to recent Counterpoint Research’s report of Indian smartphone market of Q3 2019, the Chinese handset maker Xiaomi continues its unbeaten run in India.

While in other countries the smartphone market is observing a slowdown, India seems to be the ideal place where record sales of 49 million units have been achieved in the last quarter. This is mostly due to the heavy discount and offers that we saw during Flipkart and Amazon’s various sales excluding October.

Xiaomi continues its No. 1 market position in India for Q3 2019

Now as we see in the reports, Xiaomi was the smartphone brand that sold the highest number of units in the Q3. It managed to grab 26% of overall sales originally dropping from 27%, in comparison to last year.

However, we see the total number of units sold surged by 7% on a YoY basis. Xiaomi’s best selling devices were the Redmi 7A, Redmi Note 7s and obviously the Redmi Note 7 Pro.

Samsung maintains its number 2 spot in this quarter as well. Its YoY based shipments declined by 4% but grew 3% in comparison to the previous quarter. Samsung’s best selling devices were the old Galaxy A2 Core and the newly refreshed A series and M series smartphones including the A30s, A10s, A50s, M30s and the budget-oriented M10s.

Xiaomi continues its No. 1 market position in India for Q3 2019

On the other hand, the third, fourth and fifth spot is held by Vivo, Realme and Oppo, respectively. Vivo grew from 10% to 17% on a YoY basis basically due to its aggressive online focussed smartphones like Vivo Z1 Pro, Vivo Z1x, and Vivo U10.

Realme as a new smartphone brand gained some handsome amount significant share. The Opportunity separated brand accounted for 16% of the total sales which was just 3% in the same time period last year. This is mostly due to their latest budget and mid-range smartphones like Realme C2, Realme 5, Realme 5 Pro and Realme XT.

Xiaomi continues its No. 1 market position in India for Q3 2019

On the other hand, Oppo despite having a steady growth in 2019 it has maintained a steady 8% market share even though introducing some great premium smartphones like Oppo F11 Pro and the Oppo Reno series. It’s online Oppo K series smartphones and new A series of smartphones have attracted a lot of buyers as well.

Overall we see a healthy gain in the Indian smartphone market, premium smartphone brands like OnePlus and Apple are hidden under the likes of these 5 major giants. OnePlus 7 series have had some compelling sales in India and Apple is slowly paving its way into the top 10 list with it’s aggressively priced iPhone XR and the cheaper iPhone 11.

AMD is chipping away Intel’s market shares in Europe, shows record earnings in Q3 2019

0

Intel is facing hard times recently and we all know that, though they stand optimistic the shortage of wafers and inability to 10nm node has made buyers from all segments to switch to AMD. Intel’s inability has paved the way for AMD to relentlessly acquire market shares in desktop, laptop and server markets.

Previously the Q2 2019 earnings gave us a hint that in the next quarter AMD will totally dominate the picture and so have they. Though team blue wants us to believe it is doing great by showing off those record earnings from Q3 2019 but actually finding itself unable to meet CPU market demand forcing buyers to go for AMD.

AMD is chipping away Intel's market shares in Europe, shows record earnings in Q3 2019

Intel’s Q3 2019 financial report shows that the profits are marginally better on a YoY basis  (just by 6%), on the other hand, desktop CPU sales fell by 10% compared to Q3 2018. Intel has managed the loses by increasing the prices of their highly-priced, high-performance CPUs.

But this strategy is not giving fruitful results to the chipmaker, forcing them to cut down prices by around by 50% across the board for most of its HPC CPU. The fear of high performing 3rd gen Ryzen Threadripper CPUs and Ryzen 9 lineup made Intel launch their Cascade Lake-X Core i9 processors with a starting price tag of $590.

All we know about AMD Ryzen 5 3580U & Ryzen 7 3780U APUs
AMD’s new venture with Microsoft can boost market shares for AMD in the next quarter

Facing both 14nm and 10nm shortages, many of the OEMs have adopted AMD’s advanced 7nm chips and clearly has dipped a lot of market share for Intel. As a result, Intel’s share has dropped to 86 per cent from 92 per cent and PCs containing Intel chips fell by 3.8 per cent to 4.509 million.

AMD has dramatically beefed up its share of PCs sold via distributors in Western Europe and according to official stats from box counter Context, 12 per cent of the total 5.242 million desktops and notebooks had AMD CPUs inside, up by 7 per cent of the total 5.077 million shipped a year ago.

Intel continues to lose CPU market share to AMD's Ryzen CPUs

So the figure stands like this: more than 629,000 machines have shifted to AMD, up from 355,000 machines last year. Among this record amount sales, the highest number of sales were recorded in the retail market, where AMD’s share increased from just 11% to a healthy 18%.

On the other hand, the business sector rather the server market managed a 3% growth, from 5% to 8% which we are pretty sure will increase by this quarter as EPYC CPUs are being adapted more by the industry leader and 3rd gen Ryzen Threadripper CPUs are all set to launch in November.

AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3960X spotted with 24 cores

Most of Intel’s difficulties come from its vague efforts to get the 10 nm nodes up and running since the blue team doesn’t want to fall behind in the performance race against AMD’s Zen 2 architecture based on 7nm process. OEMs like HP and Lenovo have also complained against Intel regarding its CPU shortages that could increase global PC market by 7 to 8% in Q3 rather than a mere 4%.

Intel still remains ambitious as it says that it will continue to prioritize available output towards the new generation of Intel Core products which are its main customer-oriented products. Intel also plans to further increase the output capacity in 2020.

As for now, the market seems to favour the Red team who has shown impressive performance and efficiency through its modern CPUs and its value for money superiority has led market shares flooding towards them in the Q3 2019 in Europe.

Leicester City have created Premier League history by netting in 9 goals

Leicester City have beaten Southampton by 9-0 to create Premier League history.

Jamie Vardy scored an injury-time penalty against Southampton to help Leicester City collect a piece of Premier League history by sealing a 9-0 win at St Mary’s. In that history-creating match, Vardy and Ayoze Perez both scored hat-tricks and James Maddison, Youri Tielemans and Ben Chilwell were also on target for Leicester City.

This 9-0 win has equalled the previous best in the competition’s history, Manchester United’s 9-0 win over Ipswich in 1995. The win also created another Premier League history by becoming the biggest top-flight win away from home in 131 years of league football in England.

Ryan Bertrand was sent off in the 10th minute when he made a reckless challenge in the build-up to Ben Chilwell’s 10th-minute opener. The red card had put Southampton at a disadvantage but no one could have imagined this humiliation.

ayoze vardy

Jamie Vardy told BBC Sport after the match: “I got made aware by Jonny Evans there could be a record. He told everyone at 6-0 there was a record and was adamant we were going to go for it. We were really hungry.
We started really well. They went down to 10 men, we know what it is like, we know we had to keep going and it paid dividends. It sums the lads up. We want to be playing well and we know we can cause anyone problems and win games. We are taking each game as it comes. We know we can cause anyone problems. It’s a long season and see where we are at the end.”

He further added: “The main thing Vichai ever wanted from us was to fight and win and we’ve done that in massive amounts. Hopefully, the boss is looking down on us.” This record win has come two days before the first anniversary of the death of their chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha in a helicopter crash outside the King Power Stadium. It was the perfect gift to their chairman.

Leicester City coach Brendan Rodgers told the BBC: “I was very pleased with our work rate. We scored some great goals and were very hungry tonight. I’m very pleased with how we defended and how ruthless we were. I’m very proud to stand and be the manager of that team.
We wanted to get the ball back quickly and attack again. A mark of good sides is you don’t let up and we certainly did that in the second half. We were ruthlessly simple in our game. When you’re so many goals up, you can easily slow and lose focus. To be a top team you must be clinical.”

leicester city

Southampton captain Pierre-Emile Hojberg said: “I can only put my head in front of the team and say the only thing that matters is what we do going forward, and we can never let something like this happen again.
It’s very embarrassing and very difficult for the whole team and we’re the ones to blame. We need to take it. I’m sorry, the only thing I can say to the fans is ‘I apologise’.”

Southampton coach Ralph Hasenhuttl told the BBC: “That was one of the tough ones tonight. The performance was a disaster and I have to apologise and take 100% responsibility. I’ve never seen a team act like this, there was no fight for anything.
It was horrible to watch and everyone who stayed to watch is really a fan of this football club. I’m a proud man, but the way we play today is not the way I want to see my team play. I said we must play to the last minute, but I can understand why the fans left. We all must do everything to pull this back.”

Let’s take a look at some Opta numbers from this historic match:

9 – Leicester’s nine unanswered goals made this the joint-biggest Premier League win of all time, level with Manchester United’s 9-0 thrashing of Ipswich Town in March 1995.

0 – Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel kept a clean sheet for the Foxes – just like his father Peter did for United when they demolished Ipswich 24-and-a-half years ago.

131 – The margin of victory is the largest by a top-flight side away from home in the 131-year history of league football in England. It was also Southampton’s biggest defeat of all time.

2 – Leicester became the second side to have two players score a hat-trick in the same Premier League game after Arsenal duo Jermaine Pennant and Robert Pires in May 2003 – also against Southampton.

5 – Rodgers’ men were 5-0 up at half-time, making them the second away team in the Premier League to accomplish this feat after Manchester City did so at Burnley in April 2010. The latter game at Turf Moor finished 6-1.

3 – Perez made it back-to-back trebles against Southampton. He claimed all Newcastle United’s goals and the match ball in a 3-1 win over Saints in April this year. The last player to score successive Premier League hat-tricks against the same opponent was Luis Suarez for Liverpool against Norwich City in April and September of 2012.

ayoze perez

50 – Perez’s second goal was his 50th in all competitions in English football.

19 – Leicester led 3-0 after 19 minutes. They had not scored three unanswered goals so quickly in a top-flight game since racing ahead inside eight minutes versus Derby County on April 1998.

20 – After 10 games, Leicester have 20 points – one more than at the same stage of their 2015-16 title-winning campaign.

3 – Bertrand’s dismissal meant Southampton had their numbers reduced in a third straight meeting with Leicester. Newcastle were shown four red cards in a row versus Liverpool, a streak of shame that concluded on May 2014.

This 9-0 win against Southampton has taken Leicester City up to the second place in the Premier League table. They are now only five points behind the league leaders Liverpool. Leicester City will now play against Tottenham Hotspurs on Sunday.

Samsung announces 12GB LPDDRX4 RAM & UFS 3.0 storage combo for mid-range smartphones

0

Following the announcement of flagship Exynos 990 SoC, Samsung has also made a massive announcement recently at Samsung’s annual Tech Day event at their Device Solutions headquarters in San Jose, California.

Samsung Electronics has officially begun the mass production of world’s first 12GB double-data UFS multi-chip package. The uMCP i.e. the Multi-Chip Package combines both UFS 3.0 storage along with 12GB of LPDDRX4 RAM. The electronics giant has said that this will power its mid-range smartphones from 2020.

This combo does feature four 24-gigabit RAM chips built using the 1y process. 1y is Samsung’s acronym for its second-generation chipsets designed on the upgraded 10nm platform which other companies calling 10nm+ architecture.

Samsung announces 12GB LPDDRX4 RAM & UFS 3.0 storage combo for mid-range smartphones

The LPDDRX4 RAM provides speeds of up to 4,266Mbps. The chaebol unveiled its first batch of 12GB RAM modules back in March 2019 however, they were based on the smaller 16GB RAM chips. On the other hand, the latest batch is supposed to be based on four 24-gigabit chips instead.

Samsung did confirm that they will provide the new feature to its mid-range smartphones. For this reason, they have created an alternate device with 10GB of LPDDRX4 RAM, combining two 24-gigabit chips and two 16-gigabit chips.

This is truly a bold move by Samsung to include 12GB of RAM in a mid-range device and this could jealous other manufacturers which can further raise the competition.

Samsung announces 12GB LPDDRX4 RAM & UFS 3.0 storage combo for mid-range smartphones

Samsung has not yet announced the specifications of this UFS 3.0 storage although, they should be launching a few variants based on multiple storage options. It can be assumed that more smartphone manufacturers will offer 10GB and 12GB of RAM on their mid-range smartphones once Samsung announces this RAM+storage combo.

Even though 12 gigs of RAM on a smartphone is overkill but with days people’s needs will eventually increase. As mobile gaming is taking the world by storm within years we can expect even more improved hardware on smartphones soon.

As already 6GB & 8GB RAM variants are being sold by smartphone companies, now if mid-range devices feature 10GB or 12GB people can use more apps and play more games even though owning mid-range smartphones.

Samsung launches 7nm EUV Exynos 990 flagship SoC

0

Electronics giant Samsung is ready to bring its new flagship SoC that will power the upcoming smartphones in 2020. Like Apple, who uses TSMC’s 7nm wafer to manufacture their own SoCs, Samsung makes its node by itself.

The Exynos 990 seems to be a powerful chip than the Exynos 980 that was launched in early September. This really seems to be a flagship one and we expect a better performance than the Exynos 980.

The new Exynos 990 is a 7nm EUV processor just like Huawei’s own 7nm based Kirin 990 5G chipset. The SoC has eight cores in a 2+2+4 tri-cluster CPU configuration. So, there are 2x 5th-generation custom CPU cores + 2x Cortex-A76 cores + 4x Cortex-A55 cores.

Samsung launches 7nm EUV Exynos 990 flagship SoC

Samsung did not reveal the clock speeds of the CPU cores. However, the brand does say that the custom CPU cores can deliver 20% better performance compared to its predecessor.

The SoC features a Mali-G77 MP11 GPU which replaces the previously used Mali-G76 MP12 GPU present in Exynos 9820. This new GPU also provides significant improvement in performance or power efficiency of up to 20% compared to its predecessor. With this GPU, Samsung also promises a lag-free gaming experience.

Samsung launches 7nm EUV Exynos 990 flagship SoC

Talking about the NPU, the Exynos 990 is equipped with Dual-Core NPU, an extra core than the Exynos 9820’s NPU. Speaking of camera support, the SoC has an improved Digital Signal Processor (DSP) which works with the new NPU for better camera performance, virtual assistant, and extended reality.

This SoC does support up to six cameras with high resolution up to 108MP and Samsung also has its own 108MP sensor. The Exynos 990 even supports 8K UHD video decoding at 30 frames per second.

The SoC supports displays with up to 4K UHD resolution. It also has a 120Hz refresh-rate driver display support alongside 10-bit video and HDR display support. The Exynos 990 supports LPDDR5 RAM and has both UFS 3.0 & UFS 2.1 storage options.

Samsung launches 7nm EUV Exynos 990 flagship SoC

Speaking of connectivity, the Exynos 990 features an Exynos Modem 5123 that enables hyper-fast 5G speeds. Samsung says that it’s new 5G modem supports up to 7.35Gbps download speeds in mmWave and 5.1Gbps in a sub-6GHz setting with up to 8x carrier aggregation.
