Intel’s Rocket Lake line-up with 14nm process finally unleashed

One of the most anticipated CPU launches of the decade is finally here. Yes, we are talking about Intel’s Rocket Lake lineup. The CPU brings along with its intel’s first-ever major release on the 14nm process node and it is also the first CPU from Intel to support PCIe 4.0.

The performance which we have seen until now in leaked benchmark and scores gives us the idea, for the first time in almost a year, Intel will be able to compete against AMD’s Zen architecture.

Intel’s Rocket Lake processors are limited to 8-cores, however, they contain Intel Deep Learning Boost and up to 50% better-integrated graphics performance. So, it will be tough competition against Rocket Lake and AMD’s Zen-3 in the gaming segment.

The processors will also house exactly 20 lanes of PCIe 4.0. They will also have native support for DDR4-3200 RAM without overclocking the IMC. 10bit AV1 and 12bit HEVC are now natively supported as well. To make its processor competitive in gaming, Intel’s integrated graphics also supports Resizeable BAR.

The Z590 chipset is the platform of choice for Intel’s Rocket Lake processors, but the new CPUs will also support Z490 with bios upgrades. The Rocket Lake family also supports USB 3.2 Gen 2×2, along with x8 DMI Gen 3.0 for twice the bandwidth between the chipset and CPU. WiFi 6E support along with Thunderbolt 4.0 Support is also available.

According to official sources, the Core i9 11900K can boost up to 5.3 GHz with Intel Thermal Velocity Boost and an All-Core of 4.8GHz with the same. Speaking of the Core i7 11700K, it can boost up to 5.0 GHz and an all-core of 4.6 GHz. The Intel Core i5 11600K on the other hand has 6 cores and can boost up to 4.9 GHz and 4.6 GHz all-core respectively. as of now, intel didn’t release any Core i3 for its Rocket Lake.

Benchmarks

Coming over to the benchmarks received on the launch day, we found that, games that rely on fewer threads perform better on the Rocket Lake. So, we believe that in high-end games the processors will lose to AMD’s Zen-3 as the latter has a higher core count.

The Core i9 11900K outperforms the older Core i9-10900K by 11%. Intel also tested the Rocket Lake against AMD’s RX 5900X and it outperformed the latter by 7.5%. But the gaming tests were only conducted at 1080p and not on 4K. coming to the Core i5 11600k which was tested against the older Core i5 10600k, the former outperformed the latter by 11.5%.

Pricing

The flagship Core i9 11900K is available for purchase for only $539 whereas the KF variant is available for $513 or $64 per core. This price seems to be the maximum which Intel is charging in this series, and the rest of the options are ridiculously cheap. The Core i7-11700F has a price tag of just $289 or $37 per core.

GTA Online: Rockstar is Going Adapt a Fan-Made Solution to Reduce Load Time on PC

0

Rockstar Games has announced that they are going to implement the fan-made solution, which provides lesser load time of the GTA Online PC version, and this will be brought in a future update.

Github user tostercx, also known as t0st, wrote in a blog post that how they have reduced the loading screen time of GTA Online by 70%. This huge change will cut down the loading time from six minutes to just one minute fifty seconds.

While t0st shared the fix, they warned that it was an “unsupported concept” and was “not for casual use.” They also said that it “shouldn’t take more than a day for a single [Rockstar] dev to solve” the problem.

Rockstar then took notice of this situation and issued a statement to PC Gamer, saying that t0st’s work was accurate. It also said that it is going to release an update as a solution to improve the load time of GTA Online on PC.

“After a thorough investigation, we can confirm that player t0st did, in fact, reveal an aspect of the game code related to load times for the PC version of GTA Online that could be improved,” the company said in a statement. “As a result of these investigations, we have made some changes that will be implemented in a forthcoming title update.”

T0st told that Rockstar awarded them a huge $10,000 through its Bug Bounty Program. This is an exceptional outcome from Rockstar, which will inspire people to discover the security of privacy issues in the company’s online games. Rockstar gave an impressive honor for t0st’s work.

Joan Laporta reaches agreement with Sabadell Bank; to be sworn in as Barcelona president soon

0

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has reached an agreement with Sabadell Bank to help finance the club during this difficult financial climate. Moreover, the newly re-elected candidate is set to be sworn in as the president either tomorrow or the day after.

There were doubts as to whether Laporta would be able to produce 15% of the budget that would be required for the swearing in of the new Barcelona board, which amounts to €125 million. The situation surrounding the finances took an anxious turn when Jaume Giro, the vice President of the finances at Barcelona resigned over a dispute in the lawyer’s role at the club.

However, those doubts will be answered now that the financing guarantee has been agreed on.

Laporta received almost double the number of votes that his competitor, Victor Font received in the election while Toni Freixa finished third and last in the count for the number of votes cast in favour of the candidates.

The new President has a number of important decisions to make for the future of the club. The sporting project in place at Barcelona being the first and foremost plan that demands the President’s attention. Once that is sorted out, the contract situation surrounding Lionel Messi and Ousmane Dembele will have to be dealt with.

Irrespective of the outcome of the two important contract talks, Barcelona will then have to look to the summer for recruitment. And that is when the president’s consent in terms of the arrival of Eric Garcia from Manchester City, and other potential targets will become important.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic returns to the Swedish national team

0

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is officially confirmed to be coming out of retirement from national duty to represent Sweden in the upcoming World Cup 2022 qualifiers. The 39-year-old has enjoyed a revival in his career with a series of transformational performances with AC Milan this season.

The striker played his last game for Sweden in 2016 against Belgium in the Euros and will now return to participate in the competition once again. It is a truly remarkable achievement for the player, who now has the chance to add to his already record tally of goals scored in international competitions.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic contract update; Calhanoglu and Donnarumma in talks too

Here is what Sweden head coach Janne Andersson had to say:

“First and foremost, he is a very good football player, the best we have had in Sweden.

“It is of course very funny that he wants to come back.

“In addition to what he can contribute on the pitch, he has incredible experience and can contribute it to other players in the team.”

Zlatan acknowledged his return to international football in the most characteristic way possible, tweeting ,”the return of the God” alongside a photograph of himself playing for his national team. The player has earned 116 caps for the national team since making his debut in 2001, and twenty years later, is set to start another chapter all over again.

Despite being plagued by recurring injuries this season, Zlatan has scored 16 goals across all competitions in 21 appearances for AC Milan.

Liverpool owe £40 million to Wolves for Diogo Jota

Liverpool are yet to complete the payment for the signing of Diogo Jota from Wolves this past summer. The Portuguese forward joined the reigning champions for a proposed fee worth £45 million and recent findings have revealed that Liverpool have only paid £5 million of that fee in total, with £40 million yet to be paid.

The Merseysiders paid £4 million during the arrival of the player at Anfield and paid another £1 million during the winter. They will be asked to pay up a sum worth £12 million this summer, and additional payments will eventually make the sum worth the proposed amount.

The deal was one of the few big money signings that Liverpool made during last season, alongside Thiago from Bayern. Payments for the deal will be made in the form of installments to help facilitate a regular flow of cash during the difficult financial situation in place right now, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Jota has been a fine addition to Liverpool’s squad, and was their best performing player before being hit by an injury that put him out of action for the winter, and the beginning of the new year. He is now back in the squad, and got on the scoresheet against his former club in Liverpool’s most recent victory against his former club, Wolves.

In hindsight, the deal was one of the best value for money transfers of 2020 considering the impact that the forward has had on an already world class squad.

India lost the 3rd T20 against England

England took the lead in the T20 series against India as the Men in Blue lost the 3rd T20 tonight.

England won the game by 8 wickets. England won the toss and elected to bowl first. India scored 156 runs in the first innings. Virat Kohli was again excellent today. The Indian skipper scored 77 runs which helped India to set a decent target. KL Rahul was again gone for a duck. While other batsmen were not in their mood today as well.

However, England chased down the target set by India with 10 balls in hand. Jos Buttler [83 not out of 52] and Jonny Bairstow [40 not out 28 balls] did the job for the visitors. Jos Buttler was presented the Man of the Match award for his knock which helped England to chase down the total.

After the match, Virat Kohli said, “You don’t want to play knocks which don’t help the teams. England bowlers were hitting the good areas. For us, he (KL Rahul) has been a champion player. He will continue to be one of our main players along with Rohit at the top of the order. It’s a matter of five-six balls in this format. Toss is becoming important. We lacked intensity in the second half.”

The 4th T20 will be played on 18th of March in Motera’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
