The list of all records of Lionel Messi

0

To most, Lionel Messi is the greatest footballer to have ever graced the sport, and it can hardly be argued otherwise. The Argentinian has had a long list of accolades, and here, we attempt to list all of them down.

Messi is the only player in the history of football to win six Ballon d’Or awards, which is the highest of all time. He was 24 when he won the third Ballon d’Or trophy and is the youngest to win three or more.

Lionel Messi becomes the Player of the Decade by IFFHS

In the 2009-10, 2011-12, 2012-13, 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons, Messi won the Golden Boot. His six top scorer awards are the highest of all time. In 2011/12, Messi scored 73 goals across all competitions (50 in the league, 14 in the Champions League, 3 in the Copa del Rey, 3 in the Spanish Super Cup, 1 in the European Super Cup and 2 in the Club World Cup). That is the highest number of goals to be scored in a season of all time.

Keeping to the topic of scoring, he scored 91 official goals in 2012, which is the most in a calendar year. His 50 goals in LaLiga in 2011/12 is the highest in any European league since the Golden Boot award was first given out in the 60s. Lastly, he has scored against the most number of teams in the Champions League, with 36 different clubs.

For the Argentina national team, he scored the most number of International goals in one year. Messi scored 25 goals in 2012 (13 in the Champions League and 12 with the Argentine national team) and shares the record with Vivian John Woodward, who scored 25 in 1909.

Can Manchester United win the UEFA Europa League this season?

Manchester United is one of the favourites to win the UEFA Europa League this season. The Red Devils knocked out Serie-A giant AC Milan last night to cement their place in the UEFA Europa League’s quarter-final. In the quarter-final, they will face the Spanish club, Granada.

Manchester United has had a mixed season so far. After a poor start in the Premier League, they climbed to the top spot for some time. At present, they are second in the league, 11 points behind the rival Manchester City.

In the UEFA Champions League, they missed their chance to secured their place in the knockout stage and dropped down to the UEFA Europa League. In the Round of 32, United beat Real Sociedad and AC Milan in Round of 16.

However, last season United lost all 3 semi-finals of the tournament. In the Europa League, they lost to Sevilla, who went on to become champion last season, beating Inter Milan. The Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men will surely want to change the fortune this time.

The Red Devils are trophyless in the last 3 seasons. The last trophy they won was in the 2016-17 season when they crowned champion in this competition under Jose Mourinho. They will surely try to do the same this season as well.

Top 5 longest losing streaks at home in the Premier League

0

Liverpool have lost six home games in succession in the Premier League, and should they lose a seventh, they will have entered the list of the top five clubs with the most defeats. Owing to that, here is the list of the top five clubs with the most home defeats in the Premier League.

5. Huddersfield Town: 7 defeats

The 18/19 season saw Huddersfield go crashing back down to the Championship after surviving the drop in 17/18. It wasn’t until November that the Terriers managed to win their first game in the Premier League that season. During that time they endured seven home defeats on the bounce.

4. Bolton Wanderers: 7 defeats

It all started going downhill for Bolton on the second last day of the 2010/11 season, and they didn’t win a home game until November of the 2011/12 season.

3. Derby County: 7 defeats

The Rams were promoted in 2006/07, but the following season cemented their position as the worst team in the history of the Premier League, finishing the season with 11 points, 1 win all season, 89 goals scored against and 29 defeats throughout the season. Amidst the set of unwanted records, they somehow managed to avoid the one for the most home defeats in succession.

2. Wolverhampton Wanderers: 9 defeats

Wolves today are nothing like what they once were, having been relegated in 2011/12 finishing last in the table. They won just once in their last 24 league games and set a new club record by going 30 matches without a clean sheet.

1. Sunderland: 10 defeats

The ending of the 2002/03 season saw Sunderland suffer 15 consecutive defeats, of which 8 came at the Stadium of Light. The losing streak carried over to the next season they were in the Premier League (2005/06), and they didn’t do too well that time either.

What you can expect from Apple’s March 23rd Event

1

Apple just officially confirms its first global event for this year which is scheduled for 23rd March. It’s the same date leakers shared before the official announcement. Considering the COVID situation, this also will be organized online.

As usual, all the tech enthusiasts and Apple fans like you and me have lots of expectations from the giant. Though the company didn’t say a single word about what it is bringing, leakers did the job. So, here are the most anticipated products that can be dropped on 23rd March.

12.9-inch iPad Pro with mini-LED

There’s obviously a reason I put the new iPad Pro at the first. As per the reports, Apple is going to introduce a mini-LED screen into the iPad Pro for the first time. It’s gonna a next-level upgrade in terms of the viewing experience over its existing unbelievable offering. In the market, there are also rumors about an 11-inch iPad Pro, however, that will have LCD screens rather than mini-LED.

The reports also mention that the upcoming iPad Pro will be powered by an A14X Bionic chip, which is another form of the M1 SoC Apple is using inside the new Macs. The company is not probably going to change anything in the design department, as most of the consumers give more priority to performance over looks.

Lastly, 5G connectivity support in the iPad Pro is also highly expected that will be provided through Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X55 5G modem. Just for additional information, the same modem is already in use inside the iPhone 12 series handsets.

Apple TV 6

Well well, here’s the second one, Apple TV 6. In case you don’t know, it was rumored to drop to the market last year. Unfortunately, for any reason, Apple can’t go with the plan. But, probably the time just arrives.

If we go with the rumors, an A12X Bionic chip will be there to manage the processing department. Apple may also provide a dedicated gaming controller and a better cooling solution with the package. Not sure, how much that will affect the pricing.

Apple Silicon iMac

No doubt that Apple’s own M1 chips are the most powerful processor for a personal computer the industry ever had and it is powering the current Macs. There has hardly any intention to prevent the growth of custom silicon development right now. However, some of the tipsters are also claiming that the new silicon iMacs can also be introduced later on this year, not on 23rd March.

AirPods 3

For the first time, Apple can bring a redesigned non-pro wireless earphone. There are so many leaked images and renders available, but expectations for not likely to launch on 23rd March are also present. Only the launch event can reveal the truth.

AirTags

Words about AirTags are there in the market for a long time now, even, it was also expected to drop last year. At present, the possibilities are quite higher than earlier. However, it will not be the main focus of 23rd March. Apple could use ultrawide-band technology for location tracking and the U1 chip inside to power it. We are just a few days away from the official confirmation.

Developers: Apple App Store not to “safe and trusted source” as it advertises

A developer and creator of a mobile-device keyboard interface for the blind have sued Apple Inc., stating that the company’s failure to police fraudulent knockoffs sold in the App Store penalizes honest developers.

The developer, Kosta Eleftheriou, has a long history of developing successful applications acquired by Apple, Google, and Pinterest. He stated that apparently, he struggled with the Cupertino giant to get permission to sell his FlickType in the App Store. However, the competitors quickly surfaced with poorly marketed products and didn’t work-stealing 80% of his revenue.

He blamed the iPhone maker for falsely advertising the App Store as a “safe and trusted source” of applications in his complaint filed on Thursday in a state court in San Jose, California.

“Despite possessing massive resources and technological savvy, Apple intentionally fails to police these fraudsters, costing honest developers millions, and perhaps billions, while Apple continues to amass huge profits for itself.”

According to sources, the developer left his job at Pinterest in 2017, and developed apps including FlickType that was designed to help visually impaired people use Apple Watch and iPhone keyboards.

In 2019, Eleftheriou was able to release a version of the app that enabled other developers to incorporate its gesture typing into their programs. According to the complaint, Apple sold applications that used the FlickType keyboard such as “Chirp for Twitter,” “Nano for Reddit,” “WatchChat for WhatsApp” and “Lens for Instagram,” but, the Cupertino giant refused to sell Eleftheriou’s FlickType as an independent app for the Apple Watch.

Then, in January 2020, after competitor applications had been sold for a year, Apple finally permitted the sale of FlickType and a related program, to be sold and It quickly became the App Store’s top paid program.
