South Korean automaker Kia Motors just laid out a lot of what there is to know about its Electric Vehicle EV6 — at least for the most expensive models. The EV6, to release in “select global markets” in the second half of this year, including North America, will be a fun and fast electric car with a refreshingly modest footprint.
The Kia EV6 is the first car of the company that is built to be electric from the ground up. The Kia Niro EV SUV? According to a report by The Verge, “that was, at a high level, a gas car that was retrofit to run on batteries.” The EV6, however, is built on E-GMP, Kia will use this to power six future EVs. It has also been used by Hyundai to power the Ioniq 5 EV.
AROUND 300 MILES AT THE HIGH END
The company made sure that the EV6 is full of attractive features and leading technologies but it still will not blow buyers away with its range. It will be available in rear-wheel and in all-wheel-drive configurations. And battery pack options will be standard range (58kWh) or long-range (77.4kWh). “Kia says the rear-wheel-drive EV6 with the long-range pack can go 510 kilometers, or roughly 316 miles, based on the European WLTP testing standard.” That means the EPA range will perhaps be under 300 miles. No range estimates for the other configurations have been provided.
Depending on the real-world results, out of a battery pack of that size, that’s fairly good efficiency. But the fact that Kia’s promoting just that one range figure, means that all other versions of the EV6 will likely get less. Even though it is still plenty for daily driving, some versions of the EV will not be well suited for long road trips.
One way compensation is being done by Kia is by the very fast charging, at least relative to the current state of EVs. Like what’s found in the Porsche Taycan, the E-GMP platform uses 800-volt battery packs, which makes it possible to charge an EV6 in just 18 minutes from 10 percent to 80 percent.
Another is performance, at least for the All-Wheel Drive (AWD) variants. The AWD GT version of the EV6 is the top-spec and only comes with the long-range battery version. A combined 430kW, or roughly 576 horsepower, is produced by its two motors and can go from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour (62 mph) in just 3.5 seconds.
TWO-WAY CHARGING, FOR ALL YOUR OUTDOOR EXCURSIONS
What could turn out to be more exciting than performance or tech specs is that the EV6 supports two-way charging just like Hyundai’s Ioniq 5. The EV6 can put out up to 3.6kW of power — enough to power an air conditioner and a 55-inch TV for more than 24 hours and it can also tow up to 1,600 kilograms (roughly 3,500 pounds) as long as the battery is more than 35 percent full.
Kia calls the EV6’s exterior styling a crossover, which isn’t wrong. From some rear angles, it bears some resemblance to the Polestar 2, however, it also has big hatchback vibes and from the side, it’s a longer, meaner Ioniq 5. “It’s certainly not bubbly or unassuming, like many of the SUVs that currently make up Kia’s lineup. Rather, it’s aggressive without being ostentatious; eye-catching, if not eye-watering.” The EV6 is a breath of fresh air in a world that’s increasingly full of big, bloated vehicles.
The EV6’s interior is more on the familiar side. “There are two 12-inch curved displays that sit inside a structure that rises up from the dashboard, one in front of the driver and one for infotainment purposes.” There’s also an AR heads-up display, which Kia promises will all be updatable over-the-air.
There is no word on the pricing of the various configurations by the South Korean company, while also conveniently leaving out specs for what will certainly be the more affordable models.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has addressed the G20 Anti-Corruption Working Group on the last day of its videoconference summit
ZURICH, Switzerland, April 1, 2021/ — FIFA President shares experience with members of G20 Anti-Corruption Working Group; 11 key reforms to combat corruption in football; FIFA offered as a global partner to help governments to fight corruption.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino has addressed the G20 Anti-Corruption Working Group on the last day of its videoconference summit.
Invited to speak on the fight against corruption in sport, President Infantino shared the lessons that the new FIFA has learned through its post-2016 reforms, as well as from the corruption scandal that brought down the previous administration.
Laying out the path taken by world football’s governing body in the first five years of his presidency, the FIFA President listed 11 key reforms designed “to tackle corruption, to bring back accountability in FIFA, in football more generally, and to safeguard the integrity of football and, of course, FIFA.”
In particular, those reforms were:
a fully transparent bidding process for the FIFA World Cup;
the separation of political and executive powers;
terms limits and eligibility checks for elected officials;
transparency of finances and compensation;
a transparent and centrally supervised transfer system;
audited football development investment with accountability, which includes a five-time increase in such investment (USD1.8bn) when compared to the past;
internal and external compliance overseen by an independent Audit and Compliance Committee;
judicial bodies guided by a new FIFA Code of Ethics;
strict tender processes for transparent procurement;
the promotion of women to decision-making positions in football administration; and
the formalised protection of human rights, and the protection of minors and children in sport, as it is important that our children are in a safe environment.
President Infantino expressed FIFA’s desire to establish partnerships with the members of the G20 and pointed to the power of football to help combat corruption: “It’s crucial that the G20 takes an interest in these matters and gives a clear policy direction because football is much more than just a sport. Sport in general is so important for our society, economically and socially, but also in terms of education. We are here to offer our collaboration, we are here to offer our part as a player of a global team to fight corruption.”

We have been hearing rumours about a new life of affordable Chromebooks coming out of HP for its Indian market for weeks. According to the latest sources, a new Flipkart teaser has gone live, suggesting that the rumoured Chromebook could the HP Chromebook 11a.
According to the teaser page, the Chromebook will launch on April 8 and will sport blue colour. It will include a 3.5mm audio/mic jack, Type-C port, and a microSD card reader on the right. It also comes with all the software goodies such as the in-built Google Play Store, G Suite applications, and more.
HP has decided to make its new Chromebook available in India under ₹25,000 segment from what we know so far. And, incidentally, the device teased in the Flipkart teaser page indicates the Chromebook 11a from 2020.
So, we can speculate that the model to be launched in India will feature an 11.6-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 1366×768. The display will reportedly have a maximum brightness of 220 nits and cover 50% of the NTSC colour gamut.
The device is also reported to be powered by a MediaTek 8183 processor clocked at 2.0GHz base frequency with a 2MB L2 cache. Other notable features include a 4GB LPDDR4-3733 MHz RAM, eMMC storage of up to 32GB, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 4.2, 37WHr battery with 45W power adapter, stereo speakers, a 720P HP True Vision web camera, and run Chrome OS.
With the boom in distant learning and a second wave of the COVID virus spreading across India, it is only a matter of time, before we see another drive of online academic classes.

Realme has launched its Realme 8 series in India a few days ago, but it was a 4G series, Realme 8 and Realme 8 Pro. Madhav Sheth, Realme CEO had already confirmed that the company is going to launch a 5G variant of Realme 8 in India very soon and recent reports are coming out, saying that the Realme 8 5G is going to launch in India in April and another big news is that the key specifications of this phone have been leaked out online. However, looking at the specs, it seems like Realme 8 5G is going to launch in India as a rebranded version of the Realme V13 that has been launched in China.
In terms of specs, the upcoming Realme 8 5G runs Realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11 OS and is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset. Regarding the display, this phone offers a 6.5-inch IPS LCD punch-hole display having a higher refresh rate of 90Hz and a peak brightness of 600nits.
The SoC of this phone looks to be paired with 6GB/8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of internal storage (not confirmed). Coming to the camera section, this phone features a triple rear camera setup supported by an LED flash that includes a 48MP primary sensor along with two 2MP secondary sensors. For selfies, this phone has an 8MP selfie snapper at the front.
The upcoming Realme 8 5G is said to be fueled up b a bigger 5,000mAh battery (charging capacity not known yet). In terms of connectivity, it looks to have everything. This phone carries a thickness of 8.5mm and weighs around 185 grams.

Qatar was awarded the opportunity to host the 2022 World Cup by FIFA in 2010, beating competition from bids from the USA, South Korea, Japan, and Australiain the voting process.

Kroos said on his brother Felix’s podcast, via Marca: “Immigrant workers are subjected to days without rest under torrid 50 degree heat. They suffer from insufficient nutrition, without drinking water and [working] in crazy temperatures,” .
For Kroos, the decision to host the World Cup in Qatar “was not good,” and the Real Madrid star mentioned that homosexuality is criminally prosecuted in the country and that “certain violence” is practised on workers.
“All of these points are absolutely unacceptable,” he said, although he wouldn’t boycott the World Cup.
“Would that serve to improve working conditions? I think not,” he argued.
“Football always arouses extreme attention, be it before the tournament or during it,” the player said.
