ICC World Test Championships: Can India qualify for the finals?

 South Africa’s defeat to England in the Test series 1-2 has made the race to qualify for the World test Championship more captivating. At the moment, 6 out of 9 teams are in their race to reach the finals. The teams that are eligible for the ICC World Test Championships 2021-23 are India, Australia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, and Pakistan.

New Zealand won the previous edition of the World Test Championship and cannot qualify for the final this time. South Africa’s recent loss to England made Australia take the top spot in the points table with a PCT of 70.0. South Africa took the seventh spot with a PCT of 60.0. Sri Lanka and India are at the third and fourth spots. The former’s PCT is 53.33 and the latter’s PCT is 53.08. On the other hand, Pakistan and West Indies have a PCT of 51.85 and 50.0 reserving the 5th and 6th places respectively.

How can India qualify for the World Test Championships finale?

India ranks fourth with 52.08% in the ICC World Test Championships. Bangladesh has two tests to play and Australia has four. India has two Tests to play against Bangladesh and if its a positive result, the forthcoming battle for the Border Gavaskar Trophy will be a huge deal. India also has a good result at home against Australia. If India beats both team, they’ll qualify for the Second World Test Championship final in a row.

There’s also a probability of India facing their arch-rivals Pakistan in the World Test Championship finals.

Sri Lanka: PCT- 53.33

Sri Lanka is at the third spot in the WTC points table with a PCT of 53.33. They have two matches to play against New Zealand. Even if the team wins both the games against New Zealand, still they won’t be able to get the top two spots.

 Australia : PCT- 70

Australia is in the leading position and to be able to qualify for the first World Test Championship final, they would need to win all the tests during the next year’s tour of India

South Africa: PCT- 60

Their loss against England made them lose their spot in the first place though they still have chance to reach the finals. The series against Australia would be an important deciding factor for both sides.

West Indies: PCT- 50.0

West Indies at the moment has 50% PCT and will play two Tests against Australia and two Tests against South Africa. If they reach a PCT of 65.38 by winning all four games they can reach the finale.

England (38.59), New Zealand (25.93), and Bangladesh (13.33)

England, New Zealand, and Bangladesh are already out of the race to the final of ICC World Test Championship 2021-23. They do have the power to affect other teams and their journeys to the finale. Bangladesh will play two games against India and England will play three matches against Pakistan. New Zealand will face both Pakistan and Sri Lanka in two Tests.

Fifth – Pakistan – 51.85% 

Pakistan is in fifth place and has the luxury to play the rest of the dive Test matches in home soil. If they win all five matches, their percentage will rise to 69.05% which is enough to qualify for the finals.

Love Is Blind (Season 3): Netflix has confirmed the Release date of the Dating Show 

Love Is Blind is set to come for the third season. There is a completely new batch along with the testing once again for the theory of love that has become blind to romance. In the second season, we can only able to generate their plans for divorce. There is a lot of anticipation that has headed into Love Is Blind season 3. 

The streamer announced the third season schedule on Wednesday, September 14, revealing that the 12-episode season will roll out each Wednesday, starting with the first four episodes on October 19. Episodes 5-7 will follow on October 26, followed by Episodes 8-10 on November 2, and Episodes 11 (Weddings) and 12 (Reunion) on November 9.

“Singles who want to be loved for who they are, rather than what they look like, have signed up for a less conventional approach to modern dating in Dallas where they hope to meet the person, they want to spend the rest of their lives with… without ever having seen them,” reads the official synopsis. 

Nick and Vanessa Lachey will return to host the third season, which will once again see if singles can make true connections without interacting face-to-face. Once engaged, the show follows the couples in the real world as they plan their wedding day and discover whether they can turn their emotional connection into a physical one before the fast-approaching ceremony. 

The brief teaser trailer shows the new contestants entering their closed-off pods while we hear snippets of conversations. “I’m not for everybody; I just hope I will be for him,” says one hopeful single. “We came out here to take a chance on love,” says another. 

“You think that people are going to have an expectation coming into a show that’s formed based on what they’ve seen on a previous season. But this show just confounds all expectations at every turn,” said the show’s creator Chris Coelen. “No matter how you come into it, it elicits these real, authentic feelings from people — no matter what happens.”

Love Is Blind debuted on February 13, 2020, and became a big hit for Netflix. The series produced four engaged couples across its two seasons; however, only two remain together — Season 1’s Lauren Speed-Hamilton & Cameron Hamilton and Amber Pike & Matthew Barnett. In August, Season 2 couples Iyanna McNeely & Jarrette Jones and Danielle Ruhl & Nick Thompson announced they were separating.

England has a smooth win against India by 7 wickets in Bristol on Thursday. India posted a total of 123 runs and the hosts completed the target with 10 balls to spare and won the series 2-1.

Both the teams now have a three-match ODI series.

Amy Jones won the toss and elected to bowl first. India was put into deep trouble as the scorecard by the end of 10 overs was 25/5. Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh helped India to pass the 100-run mark. Vastrakar smashed three boundaries that took India past 122/8.

Alice Capsey and Sophia Dunkley started the innings and gradually the hosts had a smooth win by 7 wickets in Bristol on Thursday. Amy Jones led England a dominated the game with both batting and bowling. English bowlers Sophie Ecclestone, Sara Glenn, and Bryony Smith destroyed Indian batters. Richa Ghosh and Pooja Vastrakar’s consistency helped the team post a total of 122 runs even when 100 runs looked like a dream.

The opening stand of England scored 70 runs that didn’t allow India to make a comeback. Alice Capsey sealed the deal for England’s victory. England had a terrific performance in fielding that also became the major reason for creating constant pressure on the Indian players.

Radha Yadav bowled to shift the pressure. Prior to that, Pooja Vastralkar dismissed Dunkley for 49. Alice Capsey and Bryony Smith took some time before the former smashed a couple of boundaries.

Sophie Ecclestone became the player of the match for taking three wickets in four overs for 25 runs. Sophia Dunkley received player of the series match for her batting performance in the three matches.

Introducing a new line of high-end smart TVs in India by Indkal Technologies, the brand licensee of Acer Home Entertainment. The S series and the H series of smart TVs, which include features like Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision, and MEMC technology, have been introduced by the business.

The Stranger: Everything We Know About the Australian Thriller 

Netflix has dropped the new trailer of the Australian thriller show The Stranger, the story follows Australian thriller The Stranger thing is featuring Joel Edgerton and Sean Harris, which premiered at the Cannes Festival earlier this year and will be headed to Netflix in October 2022.  In this show, two strangers also collaborate with a prime suspect in the case of the missing person. The movie mainly follows a real-life murder and kidnapping the 13-year-old Daniel Morcombe 

The story has been written and helmed by actor and director Thomas M. Wright, whose directorial debut was in 2018’s Acute Misfortune. He said, “With The Stranger, I wanted to make a psychological crime film that took audiences into a place that is hidden — a film that was authentic and realistic in its detail, but also immersive and cinematic. A film that demanded attention and investment.

Stranger

A film that an audience could lean into — and fall into. I centered the film on people who didn’t know the victim, but who devoted years of their lives – and their mental and physical health – to them; because though violence is the reason for this film, it is not its subject. Its subject is the connections between people. That means that, for me, this is a film defined by empathy.” 

Wright also added, “For an independent Australian film to premiere in the Official Selection in Cannes, and then be brought to the largest audience anywhere as a Netflix film, is unprecedented. We couldn’t be prouder of this film and to be partnering with Netflix to release it to an international audience.” 

The producers of the Stranger are See-Saw Films, Anonymous Content, and Blue Tongue Films, whose founder Joel Edgerton stars alongside Sean Harris.

The Stranger: Release Date 

The first we saw of Netflix’s The Stranger was a released clip at the Cannes Film Festival. 

With the release of the official trailer, we can confirm the release date as Wednesday, October 19th, 2022. 

The film will be reportedly available on Netflix globally except for the following areas: Italy, Benelux, Portugal, Greece, Israel, and the Middle East. 

The movie will also be available in select theaters in October 2022. This is undoubtedly to allow the movie to qualify for the Oscars and other award shows in 2023.

Serena Williams teases a competitive return to Tennis

After two weeks of getting knocked out of the US Open, fans assumed this was the end of Serena Williams’s tennis career but she teased her sensational return to the sport.

Before the US Open, she would say “evolve away from tennis” after the grand slam when she was defeated in the third round by Ajla Tomljanovic. On Wednesday, she said “you never know” to a return in competitive tennis.

She further added “I think Tom Brady started a really cool trend, you know … the way he did it,”

In ABC’s “Good Morning America” she gave the example of 45-year-old NFL star Tom Brady who retired in February, six weeks after he came back for the 23rd season.

Williams will be turning 41 on this September 26 and stated that she was “evolving” from tennis even before the US Open and her defeat in the third round seemed like ending her entire career.

She stated that on Good Morning America Wednesday, her sister was one of the reasons for her delay in retirement.

Venus Williams who’s Serena Williams’s older sister and seven-time Grand Slam winner tried to make her return she revealed.

“She’s not done yet. This is just me. She’s trying to get me and I’m like, ‘No.”- Serena said

Williams said that “it hasn’t quite sunk in yet” after her final loss.

“I couldn’t have asked for anything more.” Williams said of her final event.

On the other hand, Brady made one of the biggest headlines of the NFL offseason when he retired and returned in just weeks for another season with the Bucs. He was back under the center for the 23rd season in NFL and led the Buccaneers to a 19-3 Week 1 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

Ben Foster retires from football at 39

English goalkeeper Ben Foster has announced his retirement from football at the age of 39. Over the course of his career, he played for Manchester United, Watford and West Bromwich Albion. He also earned eight caps for the English national team.

The player was offered a contract by Newcastle United to become their second choice goalkeeper for the season, after the injury to Karl Darlow. However, he declined their offer in favour of staying with his family in the Midlands. 

Ben Foster announces retirement decision on podcast 

“Deep down I didn’t want to do it [turn down Newcastle],” Ben Foster told his podcast, The Cycling GK.

“It sounds mad and it’s such a hard thing to explain because there’ll be millions of people up and down the country that will say ‘you’ve just been offered a contract, a really good contract, by the richest team in the world to go and be second-choice goalkeeper and be part of something’.

“But I just didn’t want to do it, I had this deep feeling, and the wrench of it was that I’d have to move away from home, that would kill me.

“If I’m in an apartment in Newcastle by myself, away from my family, I don’t think people can understand. That’s hard to do, especially at the age I am and with everything else I’ve got going on.

“I know for a fact if I’d have gone there I’d have had an amazing time, the lads would have been absolutely brilliant and I’d have buzzed off the stadium, the fans, all that kind of stuff, but the overriding sinking feeling was ‘I don’t want to do this.’
