Lenovo Delivers 10ᵗʰ Straight Quarter of Improved Profitability Year-On-Year

Lenovo continued to record strong growth, with revenue up 14% quarter over quarter to US$648M across all Lenovo businesses in India in Q2 FY22-23. The company’s pocket-to-cloud architecture bolstered synergies across business units and segments to deliver this growth.

“Lenovo continues its commitment to bringing smarter technology for all to the market, helping us keep steady growth momentum in India. Our Infrastructure Solutions Group and Services & Solutions Group delivered hypergrowth as we continued to build new capabilities as an end-to-end solutions organization for New IT. We are encouraged to see great results for our Motorola flagship launches in Q2 and we also had robust growth in the core PC business.” said Shailendra Katyal, Managing Director, Lenovo India.

Lenovo Group announced second-quarter results for the Group, with profitability improving year-on-year for the 10th consecutive quarter. Second quarter net income grew 6% year-on-year to US$541 million and Group revenue grew to US$17.1 billion, up 3% year-on-year in constant currency.

All main businesses contributed positive operating profit, demonstrating further progress towards the Group’s goal of doubling profitability in the medium term. Additionally, the diversified growth engines continued to drive strong performance with both the solutions and services business, as well as the infrastructure business, seeing high double-digit year-on-year growth. Non-PC businesses now make up more than 37% of total group revenue. The Group’s healthy cash balance means it remains committed to doubling investments in Research and Development (R&D) in the medium term, having grown R&D spending by 15% year-on-year in the quarter.

While current external challenges persist, Lenovo remains agile and focused on pursuing its strategy and ensuring ongoing profitability by rebalancing resources towards its diversified growth engines and driving efficiencies and expense reduction through the business. It sees long-term opportunities built on its foundation of New IT – client, edge, cloud, network, and intelligence – as the global trends of digitalization and intelligent transformation accelerate.

Last quarter’s results, as well as the past three years, have demonstrated that the combination of Lenovo’s strategy, strong execution, and resilient operations are enabling it to transcend the industry cycle. Samsung, India’s largest consumer electronics brand, today announced the launch of its latest range of power-packed Internet of Things (IoT) enabled air purifiers to provide clean air regardless of the environment or room air conditions. The models in the new line-up cover a wider area of up to 645 sq ft, making them the perfect choice for master bedrooms, fitness studios, hospital rooms and other large spaces.

The new air purifiers – AX46 and AX32 models – have been thoughtfully designed with a one-button control that removes 99.97% nano-sized particles, ultrafine dust, bacteria and allergens. They also destroy potentially dangerous volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including formaldehyde, effortlessly to ensure that consumers breathe pure air. The SmartThings App enables the consumer to remotely control the air purifier. Moreover, with the SmartThings App, it is possible to turn the air purifier on and off conveniently which saves energy. Consumers can check the air quality and control other functions of the air purifier with the help of their smartphone anytime and anywhere.

The latest air purifiers address consumers’ concerns about bad quality room air that includes gases, dust, chemicals, and various odors with cutting-edge purification capabilities, including Front Air Intake and Three Way Air Flow. The Front Air Intake is designed to draw air in easily. After going through the purification process, a Power Fan then quickly distributes the clean air in multiple directions using its 3-Way Air Flow.

His first start provided the team with a physical presence that they have been lacking in midfield for a long time. His ability to score goals from the central position is also a breath of fresh air.

After patiently and professionally waiting for his opportunity, the Swiss international has finally found his breakthrough. “Chelsea fans are amazing. I’m very excited, I’m very happy and it’s important for me to play a good game,” Denis Zakaria said after the game. 

“I left Juventus to play and I waited for my chance… the manager said play like you did in training. I did my best”. 

Following his impressive performance, it seems unlikely that the loan from Juventus will be terminated. In fact, it could lead to many more opportunities in the first team, with Graham Potter positively influenced as well. 

Chelsea have an option to make the loan move permanent worth €28 million. And it now remains to be seen whether he can seal a regular spot under Potter, after a difficult initial spell.

Manchester City academy graduate Rico Lewis became the second youngest Englishman to score in the Champions League after Jude Bellingham. The 17-year-old helped achieve the breakthrough in his debut, the 3-1 win against Sevilla at home. 

The right-back was later subbed off, with Joao Cancelo coming on for the final minutes. And he was able to absorb the applause from all City fans, walking across the pitch after being asked to leave from the other end.

“We don’t give presents here,” said Guardiola. “He had to earn it.

“The people love players from the academy but we see him every day. We know he has quality and I am really happy for him.”

“Sometimes you think we’ll have to buy full-backs, knowing how expensive it is,” said the City manager.

“But we can give someone from the academy the chance. That’s the dream. It is good for the economy of the club and we can rely on him. I am very pleased with the way they are working.” 

Rico Lewis currently has a contract with City until 2025, and the club are planning to extend it further. He joins the likes of Phil Foden, Cole Palmer and Josh Wilson-Esbrand to break into the first team and make a decent impact.

Atomic Heart announces its release date with new Trailer

The game’s release date has been announced in the latest trailer for Atomic Heart, which is February 21, 2023. When Atomic Heart was first unveiled back in 2018, it caused quite a stir, appealing to fans of shooters based in alternate histories like BioShock or Wolfenstein with its peculiar view of 1950s Russia.

When the game made an appearance at the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase in 2021 and it was made known that it will be a part of Xbox Game Pass at launch, it gained even more notoriety.

The Russian developer Mundfish’s first significant release is Atomic Heart. First-person shooter game with role-playing game components set in an alternate 1955 Russia where the USSR had destroyed Nazi Germany using robotics and superior technology is planned. The Soviet Union becomes the dominant force in the world following the end of World War 2, but a KGB operative is dispatched to look into rumours that robots are performing human experimentation in a covert laboratory.

The recently released trailer furthers comparisons to BioShock by not only revealing Atomic Heart’s release date of February 21, 2023 but also by showcasing more of the game’s foes and abilities. The game’s creator, Mudfish, has said that it is “far crazier” than its rivals, which presumably explains why there have been numerous delays since the game’s announcement. But given that the clip shows a hopeful degree of polish and that the release date seems to be set in stone, this appears to be the end.

The release of Atomic Heart in February 2023 coincides with what already appears to be one of the busiest months of the year. Other anticipated games include Like a Dragon: Ishin, the PlayStation VR2, and its selection of launch titles, as well as Square Enix’s HD-2D RPG Octopath Traveler 2, which will be launched in the same week as its release. Disenchanted: The Film learns you a lot about your wishes

Disney depicts the brand-new trailer of 2007’s sequel Disenchanted. The new trailer shows Giselle narrating about the scariness and excitement of the change in her life, packing up her belongings, and heading for a new life with her husband Robert.

But when her new life in Monroeville, overseen by the infamous Malvina Monroe, turns out to be less than she had hoped, Giselle turns to magic to give herself the fairytale life she always dreamed of. We will see Giselle soon find herself cast as the villainous stepmother to her stepdaughter Morgan. It’s up to Robert, King Edward, and Queen Nancy to help Giselle right the wrongs before midnight.

The film represents beautifully both an homage and a parody of Disney’s ‘golden era’ of animation, with princesses trapped in towers and dashing princes riding on white horses to save the day. Enchanted grossed $340.5 million worldwide against a budget of $85 million, was nominated for three Academy Awards, and two Golden Globes, and won three Saturn Awards. 

The film was a breakout role for Adams, playing the role of Giselle, a singing and dancing aspiring princess who dreams of meeting her prince and becoming a queen one day. With eternal optimism and romance, she is just out of the world of Andalasia, a fairytale land, into modern-day New York City with all the sensibilities of a fairytale princess but none of the street wisdom needed to navigate real life. She meets a cynical divorce attorney who does not believe in true love, but her way of life eventually wins him over. Giselle learns how to live in the real world, and begins a happy family with Robert, and his daughter Morgan.

A returning cast from the original is Adams, Dempsey, Marsden, and Menzel. Maya Rudolph joins the cast as the main antagonist, Malvina, while Gabriella Baldacchino replaces Rachel Covey in the role of Morgan, Giselle’s stepdaughter. Adam Shankman directs the upcoming sequel, having previously successfully helmed musical features like Hairspray and Rock of Ages.  

The movie contains songs with music by 8-time Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken. The lyrics were penned by three-time Oscar-winning lyricist Stephen Schwartz, who was nominated for three Oscars for Best Original Song for his work on Enchanted, while Menken also composes the score. 

Disenchanted: Release Date
