The IPL 2023 mini-auction was successful, with players like Sam Curran, Cameron Green, and Ben Stikes being the most expensive buys. However, the 10 franchises are not very happy with the mini-auction and suggested the BCCI conduct a player draft instead. They want the mega-auction to be continued every three years. Earlier, the teams expressed their disappointment in letting their players go away, whom they had groomed.
The main reason for desiring to cancel the mini-auction is due to the price they have to pay to get some of the best talents. For example, Harry Brook was bought for Rs. 13.25 Crore by Sunrisers Hyderabad but Rajasthan Royals could have gone broke for buying him and neither was the franchise informed about it.

In order to stop spending a major amount to bag foreign players, the franchises want BCCI to conduct the draft procedure. Conventionally, the mega auction in the IPL is held every three years. A team can retain only 4 players which means, their squad gets a complete makeover. By introducing the player draft, there will be proper slab prices for players that restrict them from spending a huge amount of money on a cricketer.
The player agents sometimes play tricks to get the players a very huge price in mini-auction that wouldn’t have been a way in mega-auction. In this case, the franchises face a huge loss.

The BCCI hasn’t taken a decision on this and they get a year’s time to think about this. IPL 2023 will be sorted, and the year 2025 will gain see a mega-auction. 2024 will the year that will reveal the final decision that the board has taken.
In IPL 2023 mini-auction, out of 991 players, 405 went through the hammer. English player Sam Curran was the most expensive buy in the history of the auction with an amount of Rs. 18.50 crore. His performance in the T20 World Cup 2022, impressed all the franchises but it was Punjab Kings that acquired his services.

Chelsea have submitted an official bid to sign Monaco centre-back Benoit Badiashile. They have shifted their focus from Josko Gvardiol to the Ligue 1 defender, in an attempt to sign him during the January transfer window itself.
The negotiations are now in progress, as called by David Ornstein of the Athletic. A fee worth €35-40 million is being rumoured for the young defender, with an agreement yet to be reached about his signature.
Benoit Badiashile a transfer target for Chelsea
🔵 Chelsea aim to sign left centre-back 🔵 Current priority Benoit Badiashile 🔵 #CFC in talks with Monaco for 21yo 🔵 Gvardiol (personal terms agreed last window but price too high), Ndicka, Hincapie among other Jan/summer options@TheAthleticFC#ASMonacohttps://t.co/J3BYg8usil
While things looked good for the deal with Gvardiol, the move collapsed even though personal terms were agreed because the price was too high. They were looking at other options such as Piero Hincapie, but have decided to go for Benoit Badiashile after weighing up their options.
Badiashile has been observed as a quiet character, but has shown maturity far beyond his years. He could be the left-footed centre-back for the long-term when it comes to the Chelsea squad.
They have the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta, Kalidou Koulibaly, Thiago Silva and Wesley Fofana as the natural central defenders. But, a naturally left footed central defender can be very beneficial for the team going forward.
The details of the transfer are yet to be finalised, but he could soon be the second first-team signing for the Blues, having agreed a deal for Christopher Nkunku earlier.
Cody Gakpo was expected to join Manchester United this summer, but a move fell through during the transfer window. The player admitted he was keen to join the Premier League giants, and according to Fabrizio Romano, that is still the case.
Which means that a transfer could take place during the January transfer window if the clubs are able to reach an agreement. However, a switch at the end of the season looks more likely for him.
Cody Gakpo could join Manchester United from PSV Eindhoven
The Netherlands international was in fine form during the 2022 World Cup, scoring three goals in five games. For PSV Eindhoven, he has also been in remarkable form, being one of the very few players to have double digits in goals and assists across Europe.
Cody Gakpo hasn’t changed his mind on Manchester United. He was keen on joining last summer and this is still the case, discussions with his agents have always been positive. 🔴🇳🇱 #MUFC
The youngster has 18 goals and as many assists in 34 games across all competitions. And he has shown immense potential so far in his short career, with signs that he could be one of the best in the world.
Cody Gakpo was also linked with a transfer to Arsenal, but he prefers a switch to Manchester United over London. Personal terms are not an issue between the two parties, and it now depends on the clubs to find an agreement over his transfer.
A fee in the region of €55-60 million is being discussed for the 23-year-old, a little more than what was being asked for in the summer.
Marquez, well into his 60s, inherited Hydrabad FC which was far inferior in comparison to the Indian Super League’s heavyweights. But what he did with that team has been the stuff of wonder. Marquez’s faith in his rugged Indian youths, including the likes of Mohammad Yasir, Hitesh Sharma, and the slightly elderly Halicharan Narzary paid tips when his nonnatives were out due to injury. Manolo Márquez is named ESPN India’s Coach of the year 2022.
Manolo Márquez is named ESPN India’s Coach of the year 2022
In comes Marquez, the headmaster. A head of thick swab and pepper hair, neck raised and shoulders crawled a strong Spanish accentuation and a perma- mow. He is not glooming at you, that is just how he wears his face. In his first season, he gave a regard of what his youthful team was able of.
He turned his platoon of killers into the ISL victors by unleashing their implicit and playing them in positions that stylish suited their game. No big megastar player was calling the shots, no bone was bigger than the platoon. Marquez knew what he was doing( the man’s got 35 times of guiding experience!) and he unabashedly backed and trusted his men.
He played Indians in crucial positions, commodity other trainers frequently abstain from. Akash Mishra and Asish Rai were his trusted fullbacks and he used them to the stylish of their capacities. Akash would make a marauding run down the left hand every now and also, while Asish was encouraged to exercise his crossing capacities. Akash and Asish were raw bents they came from Indian Arrows, an experimental youth platoon that used to play in the I- League, Indian football’s alternate division.
The Indians formed the core of the platoon and were necessary in their ISL title triumph. Heck, they could’ve won the League Shield too if not for injuries to crucial players and a COVID surge wreaking annihilation in the platoon just days before the crunch hassle against Jamshedpur FC. Jamshedpur went on to win the League Shield, awarded to the platoon that tops the standings at the end of the league stage.
Indeed this season, a little over mid-way into the ISL season, Hyderabad FC is the platoon to beat. They eclipse the standings( although they have played a fresh game) despite their top striker, Bartholomew Ogbeche, not firing on all cylinders. Ogbeche, ISL’s leading arranger, has three pretensions to his name but so do Yasir and Narzary. And that is Manolo’s magic where other brigades jut their success to their nonnatives’ performances, Manolo distributes the task among his Indian players.
Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has confirmed the contract extensions for four first team players, Diogo Dalot, Marcus Rashford, Like Shaw and Fred. The contracts of all four players were set to run out in 2023. But, there was an option to extend them for a year on the side of the club.
And those options have all been triggered, meaning the players will be part of the team for at least one more year.
Manchester United extend contracts of four important first team players
“Yes, I can confirm it,” Ten Hag told the press.
“We are happy because the squad is going in the right direction and those players [have] a massive contribution in that direction.”

“We want to develop, we want to support those players and we want them to keep in our process,” the manager added.
“So, that’s why we came to those decisions, I’m sure they are the right decisions.
“We want to construct a team for the future, so for longer years, and those players have to be part of it.”
Manchester United’s strategy now is to negotiate new contracts with both Marcus Rashford and Diogo Dalot. The two players have been very impressive since the arrival of Erik Ten Hag. And the Dutchman considers both to be a key part of his plans for the future. As a result, he wants them to sign long-term deals with the club so that they can continue to feature in his line-up.
The futures of Luke Shaw and Fred, however, are yet to be finalised. There is a chance that either could leave, but there haven’t been any concrete developments as of yet.
Investors are alarmed by Elon Musk‘s ownership of Twitter Inc., the decline in demand for Tesla Inc.’s electric vehicles, and slumps in the broader market in an environment with increasing interest rates. As a result, the business is on track to have its worst yearly stock performance ever.
Tesla shares details
The world’s most valuable car firm has taken a rapid turnaround since Tesla’s shares began to decline. In the early 2020s, a time of chip shortages, congested global supply chains, and Covid-19-related shutdowns, the electric vehicle manufacturer had been one of the biggest winners in the automotive sector.
Since the stock reached an all-time high in November 2021, the company’s value has decreased by over 70%.
Tesla could need to forgo its degree of profitability in order to continue its rate of expansion is brought on by the widening economic uncertainties experienced worldwide and the growing number of competitors for electric vehicles available to buyers.
Although some electric vehicle startups have fared worse, Tesla’s stock price loss has surpassed that of the overall market and many of its competitors.
The business has produced more than a dozen consecutive profitable quarters, assisting the manufacturer of electric vehicles—which had a history of being cash-starved—in accumulating an approximately $20 billion buffer, comparable to that of several legacy automakers.
In order to explain some of those sales, he has cited his participation on Twitter. In October, the multibillionaire acquired Twitter in a deal worth $44 billion, putting the firm under almost $13 billion in debt. In the coming year, he promised not to sell any more Tesla stock.
When Mr. Musk suggested buying back $5 billion to $10 billion worth of shares in 2023, he stated in October that such a move was likely. More recently, he issued a warning: Buying back shares could result in a terrible recession, thus it would not be sensible to do so.
