Blizzard 2026 Showcase Celebrates 35th Anniversary with Updates

Blizzard Entertainment unveiled its 2026 showcase schedule featuring developer-led spotlights with major announcements across World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Hearthstone, and Diablo franchises. The series celebrates Blizzard’s 35th anniversary while revealing the future roadmap including BlizzCon’s highly anticipated September return, honoring both community legacy and craft with approximately 400 physical archive artifacts spanning three and a half decades.

Four Major Spotlights Scheduled Through February 2026

President Johanna Faries emphasized the extraordinarily talented teams’ stellar lineup assembled across Blizzard universes. The showcase represents a significant milestone reflecting 35 years of history and ambitious future plans, with more announcements planned throughout the year beyond these initial presentations streaming on YouTube and Twitch.

“The Next Chapter” Video Honors Three-Decade Legacy

Concurrent with the announcement, Blizzard released “The Next Chapter” commemorative video honoring heritage through moments, releases, and memories forming the company’s foundation. The production features approximately 400 artifacts from Blizzard’s physical archives representing a living legacy spanning 35 years—an open invitation for players to remain part of Blizzard’s continuing story.

The showcase schedule kicks off January 30 with World of Warcraft State of Azeroth on the WoW YouTube and Twitch channels at 4:00 AM AEST. Overwatch Spotlight follows February 5 at 5:00 AM AEST, delivering major game launch announcements and updates for the hero-shooter franchise.

Hearthstone receives its dedicated spotlight February 10 at 4:30 AM AEST, with the digital card game franchise sharing strategic updates and expansion plans. The showcase culminates February 12 at 9:00 AM AEST with Diablo 30th Anniversary Spotlight, celebrating three decades of the iconic action RPG franchise that defined the dungeon-crawler genre.

The developer-led presentation format allows deep dives into each universe’s future while maintaining authentic connections between development teams and passionate player communities. This approach contrasts with traditional broad showcases, offering focused attention on individual franchise roadmaps and community engagement opportunities.

BlizzCon’s September return marks another milestone for the anniversary year, providing in-person celebration opportunities after the gaming community’s years-long anticipation. The showcase series serves as appetizer before the main BlizzCon event, building momentum throughout 2026’s first half.
