BLiTZ Esports gave their own Day 1 at the BGMI International Cup (BMIC) 2026 a three out of ten, but pointed to a strong finish that kept them in the mix. We caught up with the team right after the matches in Mumbai.
Why this interview matters
BMIC 2026 is an international BGMI tournament in India. It runs from 30 October to 1 November at the Dome, SVP Indoor Stadium (NSCI) in Mumbai, with 16 teams from India, South Korea and Japan playing for a ₹1 crore prize pool. BLiTZ Esports are one of the Indian teams in the field, alongside teams including iQOO SouL, Gladiators Esports, iQOO 8Bit, Blitz Epigrotive Gaming and Outrage Esports.
Day 1 was also the day Alan Walker opened the event with a live set. We spoke to BLiTZ Esports straight after their games.
“Three out of 10”: how BLiTZ Esports rated their Day 1
We opened with the obvious question: how would they rate their performance on Day 1?
The answer was blunt. Three out of ten.
That is not the kind of number teams usually give out after a tournament opener, and it tells you how high BLiTZ Esports set the bar for themselves at an international event. The team did not dress it up.
The late comeback
The score was not the whole story. BLiTZ Esports said they had a good cover-up at the end of the day. A weak start was followed by a stronger finish, and that recovery is why the day was not a write-off.
In a points-based format over three days, that matters. A bad opening does not decide a tournament this long, and a strong closing run is what teams carry into Day 2.
Top 10 and the Indian teams
During the conversation we pointed out that BLiTZ Esportsand the other Indian teams were sitting in the top 10 at that stage. Given the quality of the Korean and Japanese sides in the field, that is a position worth noting. Indian teams are not just taking part. They are in the same part of the table as some of the strongest squads in the world.
The Korean teams and the gap
We also brought up the Korean teams. In our question, the Korean sides looked more measured early on and made their points late in the day. We asked what BLiTZ Esports would change from Day 2 to close the points gap to the leaders.
The interview ends shortly after that question. We did not capture a full, clear answer on camera, so we are not going to guess at the team’s plan. Watch the video for their full reaction.
