Blade Runner 2099: Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer Hunt Replicants in a Los Angeles Gone Dark

Neon rain, towering skylines and the question of what makes someone human. The Blade Runner universe is finally returning, this time as a series. And with every episode arriving at once, your weekend plans may already be sorted.

Blade Runner 2099: Overview

What Is the Story?

The series is set in Los Angeles in the year 2099. According to The Viewer’s Guide, it follows Olwen, a veteran Blade Runner who is near death. Hunter Schafer plays Cora, a fugitive who assumes the identity of a Blade Runner. One report describes it as a world where Replicants hold power, so expect the old hunter-versus-hunted dynamic to be turned on its head.

The Cast and Creative Team

Michelle Yeoh plays Olwen, with Hunter Schafer as Cora and Dimitri Abold also in the main cast. According to TVLine, the cast also includes Lewis Gribben, Matthew Needham and Katelyn Rose Downey. Jonathan van Tulleken directs the first two episodes and is an executive producer. Silka Luisa serves as showrunner, and Ridley Scott is among the executive producers.

Why the Release Format Matters?

All eight episodes drop on the same day, so you can binge or pace it yourself. Epicstream reports it’s a standalone limited series, meaning a second season is not planned. That means a complete story with a beginning and an end.

How to Watch?

The show streams exclusively on Prime Video. Check Amazon’s official announcement for trailers and updates, and look at the platform closer to launch for your local time.
