Earlier today, Tencent revealed that it will offically aquire the Black Shark gaming phone brand in China. Barely hours after these talks, the reputed Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station revealed that the company has plans to launch the Black Shark 5 Series this year.
As per the tipster, the company has the Black Shark 5 Series in the works, it will comprise two devices, codenamed Katyusha and Patriot. The former device with model number KTUS-A0 has already been filed with China’s MIIT confirming its existence.
The tipster went on to reveal that the series will carry significant upgrades over its predecessor like a new chipset, bigger and better battery, and the latest OS as well. The Black Shark 5 will come with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip and it runs on Android 12 OS-based JOYUI.
The Black Shark 5 has a 4,600mAh battery with support for 100W fast charging, which is just phenomenal.
That is not all, another tipster, Bald Panda revealed that the Black Shark Pro will pack a 5,000mAh battery, with 120W fast chargin support, and will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. He also revealed that the gaming phone could feature a 6.8″ AMOLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate and 2K resolution.
To recap, the Black Shark 4S and 4S Pro had a smaller 4,500mAh batter and it was powered by the Snapdragon 870/888 chipset.
For now, Black Shark is yet to tease the series offically, but we expect the company to announce it soon as we can expecet multiple leaks similar to this in the near future.
