Noted as the busiest shopping day of the year, Black Friday is expected to offer several discounts on hardware and subscriptions for gaming enthusiasts in 2021.

Black Friday phenomenon

Believed to have originated in the United States, the Black Friday craze has now become a worldwide phenomenon, including in India, where people anticipate massive savings on goods. According to reports, the earliest evidence of Black Friday dates as far back as 1961, where it was coined by police to describe the heavy traffic and large number of shoppers that were recorded the day after Thanksgiving. Interestingly, it has been the busiest shopping day of the year in the US since 2005, which does not come as much of a surprise because shoppers wake up in the wee hours of the morning to queue outside stores. The day has gained so much traction that some parts of the world have made it an official holiday, while in some cases, it forms part of an extended weekend after Thanksgiving.

In light of the digital era and the advent of online shopping, some retailers have introduced Black Friday deals online as well. In 2020 particularly, this was the preferred choice to control foot traffic, however, many people did not have much money to spend on the day. Nonetheless, online sales continue to attract just as many customers as the physical stores, if not more. Although online shopping presents some level of ease and convenience, it is that much more difficult to ensure that you get what you have been looking for as you are practically competing with potentially millions of other people online for limited goods. Moreover, when shopping online or in another state, it is worth looking into how forex can affect prices and the applicable shipping costs of what you are looking to purchase. With physical stores, on the other hand, if you are amongst the first in store on Black Friday, you are almost guaranteed to get what you have been looking for.

2021 gaming deals

This year, Black Friday has been scheduled for 26 November. Some of the popular categories that shoppers target on the day are household and technology goods, as there are often very good deals on these. Other than television sets, kitchen appliances and smart devices, gaming is also a category of interest. As such, there are several notable deals that gamers can look forward to this year.

While discounts on the PS5 and Xbox Series X games and accessories are to be expected this year, unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the actual consoles themselves. Industry insiders believe that because the consoles are so popular and selling really well, retailers are highly unlikely to reduce those prices and risk losing money on goods that are selling really well at their normal price. Moreover, some Nintendo Switch bundles can be expected. Although they don’t necessarily include the latest games, they are said to be a very good starting set. Moving away from hardware, subscription discounts for services such as PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass can also be anticipated. This makes it a good time to either start a new subscription or renew your existing one at the reduced subscription price. These are just some of the many gaming deals that you can start preparing yourself for if you are a gaming enthusiast.
